Maharishi had a thought ,it is not necessary for man to suffer . His goal was to remove sufferiing from the world for all time to come . He created the Tm movement to do this .Before he left he said he had fullfilled his duty to his master. This is very good for the world .Maharishi was always thinking right and always doing good.
I can certainly understand why people would criticize Maharishi looking at his movement, the TMO. But Maharishi's darshan was overwhelming and his body of techniques (TM, TM-siddhi progam) are very, very powerful. This man impacted my life more than anyone. He will always be a paradox to me, but always deeply appreciated too.
Maharishi's vast world-wide organization was a non-profit organization. The course fees allowed him to spread a technique for bliss and inner peace to the entire world, a task no one else in history could accomplish. Anyone who has sat in his presence knew that he was the embodiment of all that he taught. Deepak Chopra took over nothing and started his own FOR-profit business. Sadly, he thought he was wiser than Maharishi, and takes credit for knowledge he got from Maharishi. How pathetic.
@GovernorSid I disagree completely. As a Governor you are completely aware of where the course fee goes. I am a 20 year Sidha and no doubt so are you or more. Once one has been around some of the inner sides of TM for a good while, alot is learned about the money flow eh.
Maharishi's non-profit organization allowed him to bring in enough funding to distribute a technique to the entire world which gave peace to millions. Anyone who has been in his presence knows he radiates that peace. All of his knowledge is verified in my own experience with the technique every day. It's highly unfortunate that a simple and egocentric M.D. like Chopra couldn't understand Maharishi's humility and the ancient wisdom Maharishi revived and gave to everyone on earth.
I think the emperor has no clothes. This man created "Corporate Meditation" and he has turned it into a very profitable business. "Faux wisdom", don't spend time to learn, to discipline yourself, search for the truth, rather become a sychopant, pretend he is something that he is not, pretend to understand his 'wisdom & 'goodness'. The bullshit runs hot & heavy in this comment forum. Deepa Chopa, has taken over his 'business' & is now the 'official wiseman". Genius?, for money.
@fntime - Mother teresa felt emptiness in her last years and I know scores of Corporate people trapped in high stress unhappy lives.Suicides and Depression are on the rise in our world. Thankyou for being so honest. I think we were all conned. The good news is that some of us managed to quit and take back control of our lives. I feel so embarrassed when I see the pale faces of the remaining devotees wearing robes and funny hats having paid fortunes for the privilage. I started TM in 1972, and went on to become a teacher.
Attractive, but alas, not the path to salvation, or even A path to salvation.
Maharishi was deceptive. TM mantras are "puja mantras" which are the names of Hindu deities and the practice is to infuse the meditator with the powers and qualities inherent in that deity. To become "posessed" by that deity, if you will. It's a pity TM is not what Maharishi said it was.
The Master is the silence between the beats of your heart Has your heart ever skipped a beat and you felt the power of the Master? Even at the sight of his picture... Thus the Guru passes devotion to the student in pure Love, In the silent moments between the beats of your heart by Robert M. Reidy - Teacher of TM Vittel France 1974

both amazing and im great full with all my heart and soul to have been practicing tm for 8 years, and just completed the sidhis
Yeah TM charges thousands of dollars to take its courses. It's a lot cheaper to go to your local Hindu or Buddhist temple where they won't charge you a cent. Plus you'd probably learn a lot more while not getting sucked into a cult at the same time.
And the Holy Spirit rejects the worship of Nature as being almighty or Divine, because she is not. Nature is just Nature, created by the Hands of the Almighty. If you worship Nature as the ultimate truth, that is paganism. Also worship of monkey's, snake's, or elephants, or the Moon or the Sun, is all paganism. Rama or Krishna are not Divine incarnations. The Lord Jesus Christ is the Only Born Son of God, the second Person of the Holy Trinity. No other God exists anywhere.
Your concern is understandable but you have misunderstood what is meant by the word 'nature.' You must experience complete pure silence to understand this subtle point. The ideas you have expounded only exist on the level of thought. Best Wishes.
If this was a video of Maharishi in July 2006, it is quite shocking to see his physical state. It is hard to imagine just how much his health would have deteriorated by the reported time of his death in 2008, almost 2 years later. He does look really unwell in the video. It is difficult to rely on the information given out by the TM movement, so the truth surrounding the causes of his death could remain a mystery?
Maharishi was hospitalised in Roermond near Vlodrop. One of the reasons why i don't believe that Vedic knowledge can make a person perfectly healthy and even immortal, is the example he has given. No man is immortal, nor perfectly healthy, and if he says otherwise he's not telling the truth.
No, i'm sorry. like you said, that kind of information is kept secret by the Tm movement, since they do anything to uphold maharishi's image of perfection in life. I know he was a asthma patient, and his coughs were always neatly cut out of the sound tapes on his video lectures, but i am quit sure he was suffering from some condition far more serious, something which his ayurvedic staff was not able to cure.
Ramakrishna, one of the greatest saints of India, died at the young mature age of 56 with throat cancer. His disciple Vivekananda died at 39 with diabetes. Jnaneshwar Maharaj died at 17, etc. Enlightenment does not imply living up to old age.
How long an enlightened person lives is not in question. MMY's teachings offered 'Perfect Health' in return for extortionate and ever increasing fees. To see MMY desperately ill & to observe the pale faces of his followers, calls their claims into question. Obviously the TM movement covers up any truth that might challenge these unrealistic claims. Do any of MMY's close followers enjoy 'perfect health' and if it were possible to turn back the clock, how many would choose the same path again?
He slept for only a couple hours a day for 30 or 40 years. His body wore out and his enlightened spirit had to go. Look up Yogananda and the documented phenomenon of his body being preserved for a month. WOOOW a miracle or some conspiracy theory? Keep living your mediocre life and keep your mind closed. Jesus never walked on water or did any miracles. Everyone is lying to you..... BELEIVE NO ONE!!!! Schizophrenic.
tm is a cult. from a human standpoint, let alone a christian one, it is evil. no one should charge for meditation. meditation should be free. no one should tell people that if they practice something as simple and beautiful as meditation that they should eat, dress, and live a certain way like the transcendental meditation movement does. I was with the movement, and i figured out something was up.
I totally agree. The TM movement is intolerant of Individuals, discarding anyone who expresses their own opinion. I have seen honest and sincere people dismissed in the supposed interest of their own evolution. As with any organisation policies come from the Top, and frankly the whole Movement left much to be desired in the areas of Love and Compassion. Many senior members of the TM movement suffered uncomfortable deaths as seemed to be the case for Maharishi, more concerning than inspiring?
It may be a cult, but on the scale of cults it is not a very invasive one. I learnt the technique more than thirty years ago, practise it occasionally. No one has ever told me how to live my life. In fact the reverse is true: it was said in so many words that TM didn't prescribe anything. Meditate and find out for yourself what kind of life suits you. (Of course it may be different for those who are deeply involved in the movement as TM teachers, administrators, I don't know.)
Think about it just for one moment. Every meditator sooner or later rejects the Bible as false, rejects Christianity as an error, will look upon Christians as poor deluded souls. Will see Christianity as darkness. Not because it is darkness, but because Lucifer has darkened your minds, and put you a sleep in the delusion that you will be like Gods. And that Jesus'teachings are "misunderstood". If you only have love for yourselves where is your love for the Cross that you have to bear in life?
You can't use Lucifer to prove your point. He may have darkened your mind just as much as the mind of your opponent. Argue like a man or admit that you don't want to argue so much as preach. Meditation is not even the point here. There are Christian monastic traditions, Catholic and Eastern Orthodox, where meditation is important. There are Hindus who never meditate. The point is that for insight to be insight it has to be your own. 'Meditate' on that inescapable fact!
In Christian tradition, meditation is not done to discover one's alleged "divinity". This is a major difference with eastern meditation. Why, because that would not be a Christian thing to do. A Christian must realise God is always his Master. I have repeatedly heard from yoga masters, among them Maharishi, that Satan in their opinion does not exist, only darkness and light, and this is precisely what Hinduism teaches.
Even in Christianity Satan 'hardly' exists. He is, after all, just one of God's creatures. And all of creation is a mere bubble, the tiniest piece of fluff, in the Abyss of Godhead. Now, once more, who are YOU? Forget about meditation, so-called divinity or creatureliness, about what Hindus believe or Christians believe. Can you bear to approach this question afresh? (I'm sure you can give me a 'Christian' answer, but I know what Christianity teaches anyway, so don't bother.)
Well, i am a human being, a creature loved by God, that's all. God's purpose is to get me in Heaven where i will be united with His Godhead, though still remaining a creature, eternally happy.
Yes Hans, he who really looks into the history of the bible with an open minded will reject it. Because it is a book based on both old hebrew campfire stories, and Pagean rityuals and beliefs. Even Easter was taken from the Pagean "Day of Ister", which was a day to celebrate the beginning of Spring.
You're praying to a jewish god, Hans. There's nothing wrong with that per se, but its a hand-me-down religion, based upon fiction and fables stolen from OTHER religions. It isn't even original.
I think it is the other way around. Behind Pagean religions are evil spirits and ultimately Lucifer himself who always wants to copy the work of God and His Revelation. They in the spiritual world have more knowledge than we have. When at the End of Times the Anti-Christ will appear, he will be a Jew,look like Jesus, and try to copy all the great events in the life of Jesus so that he will be worshipped as a Redeemer.
Source of Christianity is not only the Bible, but also Apostolic tradition and the living authority of the Church, whom can speak on behalf of the Holy Spirit. How else could thousands of people learn about Christianity in the very first few hundred years when there wasn't even a Bible to begin with.
if meditation is evil why is it refrenced in the bible? ponder these questions. look up the secret life of christ. the accounts of christ's journey to india. i love Jesus Christ, i have issues with "Christians"
Jesus said He had never spoken in secret, everything He had to tell He told in public. Gnostic people think He had some secret, occult teachings to reach enlightenment, He had not. He told His apostle's to "go and make disciples of all nations, and baptize them in the Name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you" (Matthew 28,19).
Not every meditation is evil. But i don't agree with mediations who call upon spirits with the help of a mantra. It's Pagean meditation. Evil spirits will help you accomplish things, but the price is too high. The price is your precious soul, whom was created by Almighty God, and Redeemed by the Divine Blood of Jesus.
Have respect for other traditions, try to see existance in an infinitely large, or infinitely small way. All of these other people are lovers of existance. Maybe you should learn how to read sanskrit or hindi

From Christian point of view this is wrong. Invocation of spirits (demons), to "enrich" life in every aspect= asking Satan to help gain what we desire from our fallen state of Grace. The Lord Jesus Christ condems these practises and will cast out the evil spirits. Then there will be Heaven on Earth, only then.
Hans, let the lord condemn who he will and keep yourself out of it. You may mean well but it's not of your concern what others do with their own faith.
Maharishi did change the world. From a Christian point of view, knowing who you are, why you are here, be a good Cristian certainly you would know in time the father of Jesus. This is the yagna mantras, this is not invocation of satan. Satan or the evil resides in everybody. Yagna or puja is oblation to the super soul.Fire is energy and if you burn everything the result will be energy or fire. Everybody is the parcel of that energy.Jai Guru Dev
But did not satan try to seduce Adam and Eve to become God alike? to eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge? Lucifer was not a monster, he was the most beautiful angel God had ever created. he appears as an angel of light. evil resides in man since original sin was committed. original sin is something else than ignorance. "ignorance of one's true nature" is the argument used by satan to seduce innocent man. Man is not God and never will he be God.
moreover, im reading a memoir about Maharishi, and it has nothing to do with Satan, Charles Lutes asked the question " Will god see me doing this", and the Maharishi replied=- Even better, you will experience god.
It is contradictory to Christian theology, when you say, you can experience the holy spirit even without believing or being baptised. That would mean Christ's offer was in vain. I'm sure you will experience some power when you meditate, only question is; is this power coming from God?
You will never rise above theological polemics if you don't find a firm basis of knowledge, Hans. There is no substitute for insight! Don't confuse a staunch conviction that the Bible is true, stories about Satan, a few doctrinal buzz-words, with authentic insight. I am not saying that you will have to meditate but you will have to dive deep into yourself in some way. Find out who you are before you start telling other people who God is. Don't be a pious fool.
The Saints and Teachers of the Holy Church always let the authority of the Apostle's and their successors the Bishops, prevail OVER personal experience. Because the Holy Spirit is guiding the Church according to the promise of Jesus Christ,it's founder. That is why you should always suspect something wrong when people tell you to listen only to yourself. You are not God, and you'll never be God. Only in Heaven will you be united with God. You can enter there only through Jesus' Blood.
Think before you respond please, Hans. Don't worry who I am or am not. Be aware of the loop in your argument - inauthentic humility: "the authority of the church prevails over personal experience". Who says? You are telling ME. (No, it's not me, it's the Bible, the Apostles etc. saying so; cp. Muslims telling us Islam is not the religion of Muhammad but God's) That's not thinking, Hans, it's confusion worse confounded. THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR INSIGHT and 'insight' is by definition 'personal'
Thank you, i would like to give you some hope too, and that is resurrection and glorification of your body together with Jesus Christ. You will not take another body, God will glorify this one at the End of Time. It's written in the Bible.
All I see in this pooja are beautiful delicious fruits. But it is well known that the invocation of evil spirits (demons) must involve sacrifice of satient beings. In short, it must involves the shading of blood and flesh, attracting a congregation of demons. Maybe you should revisit the slaughter houses and see how and where you get your "food"!
"I like your Christ. But I don't like your Christians. They are so unlike your Christ". = Mahatma Gandhi =

It isn't even original.
jesdome 3 years ago
I think it is the other way around. Behind Pagean religions are evil spirits and ultimately Lucifer himself who always wants to copy the work of God and His Revelation. They in the spiritual world have more knowledge than we have. When at the End of Times the Anti-Christ will appear, he will be a Jew,look like Jesus, and try to copy all the great events in the life of Jesus so that he will be worshipped as a Redeemer.

it is you who are wrong, according to your own book of plagarized fiction, the bible.
You really should know something about that which you speak, before you try to tell all of us how things are.
Doing otherwise just makes you look stupid.

You must know a lot of 'evil spirits', right? lol
What do they look like?

From Christian point of view this is wrong. Invocation of spirits (demons), to "enrich" life in every aspect= asking Satan to help gain what we desire from our fallen state of Grace. The Lord Jesus Christ condems these practises and will cast out the evil spirits. Then there will be Heaven on Earth, only then.
hans421 3 years ago

And regardless to religion, any one can meditate.
nkip9230 3 years ago
It is contradictory to Christian theology, when you say, you can experience the holy spirit even without believing or being baptised. That would mean Christ's offer was in vain. I'm sure you will experience some power when you meditate, only question is; is this power coming from God?
hans421 3 years ago

You can enter there only through Jesus' Blood.
hans421 3 years ago
Think before you respond please, Hans. Don't worry who I am or am not. Be aware of the loop in your argument - inauthentic humility: "the authority of the church prevails over personal experience". Who says? You are telling ME. (No, it's not me, it's the Bible, the Apostles etc. saying so; cp. Muslims telling us Islam is not the religion of Muhammad but God's) That's not thinking, Hans, it's confusion worse confounded. THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR INSIGHT and 'insight' is by definition 'personal'

Hans is a Christian fanatic: sees everything in "black & white" & can not transcend his limitations!
Next life it will be better for him, because he has often Maharishi in his mind. It finally will purify him!
