Tornadoes are NOT bothered by a person's language or dialect! They are NOT bothered by tall skyscrapers either. The NYC Twisters of July and September 2010 proves that rubbish belief to be deadly wrong. Fools like the person that said "Tornadoes are attracted only to southern rednecks and midwestern speakers" need to think!
I hered from some fool that Tornadoes are only attracted to southern rednecks and midwestern speaking people because they strike them more often than people with a New York accent for example. BULL! Seriously, if all the Midwestern and southern redneck speaking people from Wichita migrated toward NYC and all the New yorker speaking people moved to Wichita, Kansas IT WILL NOT CHANGE THE CLIMATE! Tornadoes will still strike there.
@ghostman3331 Where r u from dude? Apparently u don't about tornado's or how quick they can turn on u.
Manager was doing his job which was to get those ppl to a safe place. Being manager made him responsible for those people. There's always the stragglers piss assing around tryin to record or watch putting themselves an others at risk by not listening. Those will get u killed if u wanna hang around watchin it. It was not even close to dissapating. It went on for another 10 miles.
@lovinbosco the manager was playing hard ass boss even during a tornado if i was Alexander id fire his ass yes the tornado was close but if people like dude who took this video was listening to the boss he wouldnt have been able to get the footage i would give dude who shot the video the bosses job and fire the manager then things might get done instead of someone thinking they can boss people around and get a kick out of it its borderline sadism
@ghostman3331 Like I said. Where are you from? That thing as close as it was, had it turned they would've had seconds not min.s to get to safety. I live here. I saw all devastation it did. I still stand by my original post. Yeah, it's great footage, but not worth risking lives over. There was enough grief that day.
@ghostman3331 Sry, the same message posted like 4 times. Anyway, you live through a few of these... Oh wait, you'd still be out there getting blown away just to try to show you weren't afraid. What a waste. But that's what ignorance does.
Tennessee has a bad history with tornados. Nashville was hit head on in 1998, this F4 hit earlier in the year, and almost 50 people died in TN during the Super Tuesday Outbreak last year. TN holds the record for most deaths by tornado in the USA each year, even though we dont get the most. I guess the humidy in TN really helps fuel these storms.
I remember almost driving into April 2, 2006 tornado that hit Bradford, TN. It nearly leveled the whole town. Came right across US 45 just north of Milan
Actually i think that record belongs to Kansas.. dont know just thinking.. sorry if i got that wrong
Because Kansas had The Greensburg and Udall (E)F-5 Tornadoes and its majority of F-4 and 3's. Thats what they are usually classified as.. Rarely in kansas are they F-1's and somewhat F-2's
In 1978 a tornado touched down in Visalia California. Also, If you look on Wikipedia, there was a weak tornado go through downtown Los Angeles in 1983. Tornados can happen ANYWHERE.
@Hitman1128 I live on Halls Hill Pike. They're always n our area and n Lascassas. Bet u see a lot our ur way. Seems it got as close to u as it did us. Missed us by 3 mi.s. Close one last Sat. too. May 1st. during all that flooding.
This is where I got my car. I probably would've been mesmerized into standing there and watching it too. As long as it wasn't coming at us that is. ; )
I still can't believe one that big came through our town. Blows my mind. I think we've always had them like this from time to time. Our town and country sub-divisions are just so much more wide spread. There's so many ppl that have come here. I just hate that Mother and infant were killed.
You would be surprised at how hypnotic a tornado is-you think you would run for cover right away-but a few years ago-we had one tornado coming towards the front of our house, one coming up in the field behind our house (both were approx. 2 miles away, and we all looked up and there was one slowly forming over our heads-and we all stood there like idiots, staring at it with our mouths open, when it started to come down we all "woke up" and got in the tornado shelter.
yeah man i know....one was about to come down and we just like looked at it hahah we were like....DAMN....hahah then we realized....oh shit we better take cover and we did
I left MTSU & was headed to my friends house, which is in regency park off of haynes drive, when i saw the tornado and realized i was driving towards it. I told him i was gonna turn around and our phones cut out. I pulled into Rite Aid on the corner of Haynes and Memorial. Their power went out as i ran in and we all got in the bathroom. It happened so fast. It was an indescribable scary feeling driving towards it. I'm thankful God led me to a safe place. i'd rather not see one that close again
Wow, this is crazy.. I don't see how anyone could live in a state where they knew that Tornados could rip apart their houses and destroy everything they own. I feel so bad for victims of tornados when I watch it on the news.
Tornados can happen anywhere. It's like someone choosing to live where hurricanes happen often, or snow storms, earthquakes, volcanos, even tsunami threats.
No, tornados cannot happen anywhere. There has never been a tornado in Las Vegas or California. Earthquakes yes, hurricanes no. There are a lot of people that have moved out of California because of the earthquakes.
Actually there have been tornadoes in California...Google it...it may not happen often but i do believe they can happen anywhere with the right conditions
There was an EF-2 tornado just last year in the Inland Empire area of California. Yes, they are rare, usually weak, and have never killed anybody here, but they are by no means impossible. Tornado damage has been recorded in places such as Irvine and Los Angeles. And, if you search YouTube, you can find several clips of some that went through San Francisco. California also recorded the highest elevation for a known tornado at approximately 12,000 feet above sea level.
I have never experienced one in Las Vegas, NV. But nothing ever happens here. I mean we get rain every once in a blue moon. But we are in a severe drought and have been for years.
Tornadoes have occured in just about all of the USA. The Midwest plains states, The entire Southeastern states or redneck Goober states, which is probably what Sick calls us. LOL I'd bank on that. They can occur in the Ohio, Indiana, Ilinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin areas as well as the Atlantic states and into the Northeast. A very wide pretty wide area where the storms occur. I'm guessing those people are not going to pack up and move anytime soon. I'n not sure what point you were making here.
To the people criticizing the manager for his tone, and for asking people to get to the parts dept:
Yes, the tornado was coming closer to them, pay attention to the rotation in the clouds and the wind blowing the flags on the light poles.
And their parts department is probably the interior-most room(s) in the building, maybe with no outside walls, or the least amount. If this is the case, they are being ushered to the right area.
Good God!!! The guy in the background yelling parts department NOW!!!!!, is such a wuss. The tornado is obviously not coming towards you. Let the guy film the tornado!!!
Tornadoes can very easily change direction. You have to think of debris that is being picked up and thrown around also. No matter how close it looks to be, it's always best to be in a safe place. If he was in management it was his job to protect employees and customers on the lot. Trust me, I've been in the same position, it's not fun!
who was the scared guy yelling parts department now thats anti car salesmanship you are not supposed to freak under pressure if you sale cars his overall job performance should be up for review and he ruined a good video shoot
that is the exact one i had to outrun but thank god i was a little more lucky than that one lady and her daughter. there were a total of 4 that day. it's still scary though to see that not only from a distance but 40 feet from your car and then behind you in the rearview mirror. i will never forgot that day nor the people who weren't so lucky.
Very good video and protection. I absolutely loved the "help me Jesus, Help me Jesus". Sounded like her goofy ass was only out for her own protection. She really sounded silly. Good job manager!
I used to live in Murfreesboro from 84-89. I lived near MTSU and went to school at Oakland. Its amazing for me to see this because I've never seen weather like this in M'boro. I'm in Memphis now, and we had a terrible tornado last Feb.
Ok, I've tried not to say anything, but now I have to-to all of u who feel the need to comment on the manager in this video-he is not a Redneck, or a prick (Do u know him? U must, to be able to make such a statement.) Nor was he scared or sh**ng his pants(as some one so eloquently said)-he was doing what he is supposed to do as a manager and a HUMAN BEING! He was trying to keep everyone there (service,sales,parts,customers...WHOEVER) safe.If u don't know him, keep your opinions to yourself.
@rmeguiarc Actually, yes he is. Everybody at the Chevy Store is. And before you say anything, I used to work at the Ford Store. Sad part is, the tornado was never even close. People need to learn how to track things like this. Kroger wasn't even in danger.
u are not supposed to outrun demons like this ur supposed to hunker down in ur safe place i think thats what killed that poor mom and daughter and put hubby in critical cond is he ok now?
The Murfreesboro, TN area wasnt the only URBAN area struck with damaging tornadoes that day. I mean this was an assault. If you go online to other areas, Shreveport, LA city of 197,000 and Augusta, Ga city of 210,000 had tornadoes come through their areas around this same time period. I mean this was very much an outbreak that Im sure many areas dont want repeated, but its still early in the spring and the East Coast in the summer so who knows
I am sad about the tornado hitting, but i am thankfully nothing touched down around me. I live in Cleveland, TN, and that line of storms hit us a couple of hours later. I was at work at Wally World, and we almost had to take cover. We had a warning out, and there was a lot of rotation in the sky, but nothing touched down.
wow, now was this tornado moving away from the car dealership because they were filming it, when im sure they emergency sirens had sounded and told them to take shelter
Dont let it catch up, turn or speed up. But if that thing was heading towards me and a lot full of cars, and all I got is a cendar block building and glass to run into to protect be from the soon to be flying cars, I am gone, see yea would not want to be yea.
not really. There was a show on the discovery called The Human Body: Pushing the Limits I think and at one point it was showing a guy who got sucked into a tornado and he was saved because a lamp hit him and he fell unconscious. When he landed no bones were broken because of the fact that his body wasn't tensed up.
good gravy. But do some research on the people who tries t outrun tornadoes then gets killed. It is safe to wither seek safe shelter inside a building, or get in a ditch or other low spot.
I was just saying that you could get sucked into a tornado and fly out but possibly survive. I do agree that trying to outrun a tornado is stupid, and that its better to get into some sort of safe shelter though.
lol this look like the same stuff we were doing at the same moment.. i work at the nissan dealership in murfreesboro. our boss got on the intercom and said everyone take cover its headed right for us
Props to the auto dealer here for refraining from the temptation to add a message like, "We're offering Tornado like deals on all 09 Chevy's and Cadillacs - hurry in now cause these deals will blow you away!!"
that took out my whole street but 6 houses but all where damaged. all of my friends on that street no longer have a house. it was a terrible day to remember. it was only 2 houses down from my house. way to crazy for a 13 year old...
Wow. I live in the Barfield Community so Im no stranger to this. We actually had the funnel cloud of that tornado come over my area, and I have a pic that my friend took from his apartment over on church street.
hey docker, good to hear from you today after this so i knew you were still ok and alive. if something like that comes near you again, you need to run! lol that sucker had to be an f3 or an f4
this was too close for comfort for me, live right off of cherry lane. Very lucky it passed over us, but am still sorry for those who were right in its path. Very scary, nice capture.
We were switching back and forth between Lelan/Charlie on Channel 5 and Tim/Lisa on Channel 4 and watched it at the same time you did from a much less terrifying perspective. Thanks for capturing and sharing it.

Tornadoes are the work of God telling you to not mess around. So be good. And remember it is all in his plan. lol

ButtMonkey83 2 years ago
wow, now was this tornado moving away from the car dealership because they were filming it, when im sure they emergency sirens had sounded and told them to take shelter

I would be in a car and GONE
putittogether 2 years ago
If you were and the tornado would catch up with you, and indeed you would be gone, and DEAD! People who try to outrun tornadoes are idiots.
danbel899 2 years ago
Dont let it catch up, turn or speed up. But if that thing was heading towards me and a lot full of cars, and all I got is a cendar block building and glass to run into to protect be from the soon to be flying cars, I am gone, see yea would not want to be yea.
putittogether 2 years ago
It can quickly change directions and even speed up.
danbel899 2 years ago
not really. There was a show on the discovery called The Human Body: Pushing the Limits I think and at one point it was showing a guy who got sucked into a tornado and he was saved because a lamp hit him and he fell unconscious. When he landed no bones were broken because of the fact that his body wasn't tensed up.
hunterhater1 2 years ago
good gravy. But do some research on the people who tries t outrun tornadoes then gets killed. It is safe to wither seek safe shelter inside a building, or get in a ditch or other low spot.
danbel899 2 years ago
I was just saying that you could get sucked into a tornado and fly out but possibly survive. I do agree that trying to outrun a tornado is stupid, and that its better to get into some sort of safe shelter though.
hunterhater1 2 years ago
im sorry. Its kinda like the times when a tornado sucks chicken eggs and lays them gently in a field somewhere else.
danbel899 2 years ago
there has to be a safe location at the car dealership, building code says so. Seek shelter in a bathroom or a utility closet.
danbel899 2 years ago
lol this look like the same stuff we were doing at the same moment.. i work at the nissan dealership in murfreesboro. our boss got on the intercom and said everyone take cover its headed right for us

Props to the auto dealer here for refraining from the temptation to add a message like, "We're offering Tornado like deals on all 09 Chevy's and Cadillacs - hurry in now cause these deals will blow you away!!"

I live in Nashville and knew it was a good size tornado, but this video shows how big the cloud was. Wow, thoughts go out to those who were affected.

Nice job on the video --
We were switching back and forth between Lelan/Charlie on Channel 5 and Tim/Lisa on Channel 4 and watched it at the same time you did from a much less terrifying perspective. Thanks for capturing and sharing it.
Shout out to all the guys in the Alexander Automotive Family!!!
