  • Being that KW is out in the ocean a ways and not mainland FL, does it still get the crazy harsh heat extremes(past 95 to 100ish).

  • I dont want to be a downer but in truth the whole place is a tourist trap, since 1997 it lost any "real laid back mannor" to its location, but some of the other keys still have a little escape but its dwendling... I cant go anywere down there without the feeling of people with "hooks" trying to snag me! in the 70's it was a real charm there were even chickens and roosters still running the streets just like old times now you rarely see them! only the wealthy or young kin of wealthy enjoy it now.

  • Key West is laid back by day and full of energy at night, what an escape !

  • Nothing like Key West. It's the best.

  • 0:33 sheraton hotel ;)

  • KEY WEST was gr8!

thumbs up for Glassbottom Boat Daytrip!!

  • Key West WAS great. I coulddnt see myself living there for the fact that it is a small island, and for someone with an eager determination to keep busy, it may get boring fast.

  • i love key west, i'm in florida so i visit the keys every year. My favorite spot in key west is captain Tony's. If you've been there.... thumbs up for an awsome bar!! :) (and no i don't drink)

  • I was disappointed that there are no stretches of beach! It's FAB except for that - I love to walk a long strech of beach!

  • man i wish i was living there : (

  • Im moving there. growing up, i spent half of each year there having a house there. the way to do it if your going is to stay for a month if you can and rent a house thats what my family does now that we sold our house we had there. My favorite place in the world.

  • I can't wait till we move there!!

  • You are so right, it is the American Carribean and I can't wait to go back. Thanks for a great review!

  • Say it aint so actutus. I love this place..so expensive though. Jaime..if you get to move here, your're lucky as heck. What a place.

  • You assholes. It's Conch Republic! Not that dumb state Florida! Jesus don't refer the great nation of the Conch Republic to that tan state of melanoma and bronzed unattractiveness. YUCK

  • key west -beautiful place , i was there in february but in 5 days i will be there again!

  • thanks, this video was very helpful ;-)

  • thanks for your nice information

  • 50.000th view!

  • Good bye Margaritaville. The oil sludge and tar are heading for you. They don't tell you that the gulf coast currents will take that crap along the coast into Key West and eventually up the East coast as well.Thank you BP,may you rot in hell you greedy CEO's and shareholders.

  • @justcallmeassinine you know accidents happen. How would you feel if you had a giant hut but the wind blows it down and people die from the sticks.. NOW ALL OF A SUDDEN PEOPLE ARE SAYING YOU'RE A GREEDY ASSHOLE!

  • @SniperViper1000 I hope you still feel the same when the sludge moves through the beautiful coral reefs East of the keys and blackens it.Maybe not tomorrow but give it a few more months, its drifting your way.

  • @justcallmeassinine It's gonna make it's way to Ontario? damn that's some serious sludge.

I hope you know I was only kidding. I love Florida.

  • @SniperViper1000 ..Ok I was punked... I do hope Fla. is spared but it is in the path of the Gulf Stream....

  • I saw so much this guy reviewed :3

  • Best Beach in Key West ..go to Ft Zachary Taylor beach. Most people that go to Key West don't even realize it because you have to pass by a guard to the Navy officers housing. It's okay , the guard will wave you through.

  • People need to understand. We are NOT a beach destination. The coral reef protects us from the waves, Therfore, the sand doesn't wash up on shore.

  • @TropiKelley ya for real if you want a good beach in the keys go to Bahia Honda or off shore (Boca Grande, Women Key, Snipe Point, Marven key, ect)

  • I love Key West.. Goin' back soon!!

  • Im going to florida in a week with my mom and dad, My mom says if she thinks its to cold in Tampa then will just go straight to Key West, i think ill be pretty sweet!

  • You are soooooo stupid u think u are going 2 get HIV from the beaches.ALL poaple should have THE some rights white, black or gay stright whay ever.but assholes like u should not b alond to leave your house

  • LOL, ROFL, you are very classy and probably very fat, ugly or gay yourself...

but you did make me laugh...Thanx

  • For every action there is a reaction ....life is short, play nice .

  • @saharra22469 homophobia is a disease ..hate kills other people..you must be a very unhappy person..

  • The seaweed was probably from recent hurricanes

  • key west is the best!

  • Sitty Beaches is true, You see that in the brochuere

  • Thank you very much for your very insightful and invitining overview of Key West..have always wanted to go and this is a great way to get a real feel for the island, mon..;-) thanks and Merry ChrisTMas♥

  • heyyy, i stayed there last year on spring break. one of the most beautiful places <3

  • Please don't take this the wrong way I mean it in the nicest way possible.

The beaches are seaweedy or rocky because they are NATURAL!! deal with it.

  • actually most of the beaches in the Keys are fake - sand is brought over from the Bahamas! Our few natural beaches are very narrow and the mangrove shoreline is what is "real."

  • @quietguy33 oh please, a bunch are fake

  • Good review, sums up the place nicely.

  • Funny comment. Where do you live?

  • how's the weather on December..it looks boring 4 young people.

  • It isn't boring actually. On my trip there I saw a ton of little kids having a blast to be honest.

  • @vitto i hope it isnt i might go there

  • Can anybody tell me what the weather is like???? Are there lots of Hurricanes???? Are they a problem, could they be a problem in the future???? How many Hurricanes have hit the island if any??? I am thinking of moving there to live, but I'm not about to put myself in a Katrina like situation.

  • Hurricanes frequent key west area often, especialy in Huricane season, They do not usualy hit key west but sometimes do. I am not sure what you mean by the Katrina comment, i think that had more to do with the levy systmes, local live in keywest for years and years, so i would say its just a part of where they live and they deal with it. Maybe you should not move there, try Navada.

  • The Keys are very flat, and virtually at sea level. When a tropical storm hits, you will undoubtedly get get to share it with everyone else in Monroe County. Expect to ride out tropical storms - it's not a matter of 'if', but rather 'when' a storm hits.

  • @xpolisciguyx05 rains a lot in summer and it's very humid... and that's about it.

  • lived in key west for five years - my daughter is a Conch - ("konk") ie one born in the florida keys, though she will never remember living there.

If you are driving down, I recommend flying into Ft Lauderdale as opposed to Miami, cheaper and MUCH easier. read these words carefully: WATCH YOUR SPEED. Death toll is appalling. Tickets are expensive. Take your time & enjoy the view.

  • haha i was born here lol

  • Youre not kidding it's hot in August!! Putrid hot with NO BREEZE!! ugggh! Loved it there, but waaaay too hot this time of year. Just got back last week. Interesting place to visit though.

  • We're planning to go to Key West on December. Is there possibility that the traffic is mess on Sundays? Plan is to drive from Key West to Miami Intl Apt and then travel to Port Everglades where our Caribbean cruise departs at 5.00 pm. Is there a risk that we wont make it? Any information is valuable, thank you.

  • u should be fine its a 3hr dive if there isnt any accidents so plan ahead

  • Traffic in the Keys can be tricky. Double your drive time and you will probably make it to wherever you are going.

  • im 13 and i went here with 3 friends and my mom. i miss it. great time ! 5/5

  • I was there a couple years ago and it was great, this is not a place for kids and it was awesome!

  • why isn't it for kids???

  • @awsomeking5 because there's nothing to really do their besides going to a bar. I mean, the beaches, museums, and just trolling around town are fine for kids but, the thing is that their'er a lot of crazy people and or drunk people but honestly you see people like that any were so it's really not even a problem for kids.

  • testing

  • I went to Key West last December and it was pretty fun. I liked Smathers beach even though like you said it's not the best looking beach but I had fun there! I was there for New Years and was disgusted at all the fags downtown. I don't mind gay people, but when they try and rub your face in their lifestyle it gets to me.

  • my grandma just got back from key west. im going next year!

  • To all the praise everyone has heaped on Key West, I would add its extensive and atmospheric old town -- unlike any other in the USA, and better than St. Augustine for Old FL. The BIG drawback to KW has nothing to do with what it is, but what it is becoming. Sadly, the rich from all over the world are pricing out the laid back bohemian types that have always made KW so special. In a few years, KW will be just another posh resort, and the KW vibe just another layer of the island's rich past.

  • @actutus YES! I lived there on KW 30 years ago and most of the Island's

rich historical charm has been LOST because of developing and GREED.

It was once a magical place, but generations of criminal politicians have

nearly turned the place into a ridiculous Disney-World. Ask any local you

find who is still there. You will get an earful of how KW is RUINED.

  • I were there, beautiful memory

  • I was here in 2008 and all I have to say is that CRUISE SHIPS BLOCKED THE ENTIRE SUNSET EVERY NIGHT! I went out to see it for the 7 days I was on vacation. Was very disappointed on the decision to tie up the cruise ships on the west side of the island. :( No sunset to be seen!

  • i miss it so much

  • i cant wait to move here

  • Key West is awesome. The beaches are very nice. I loved how relaxed it was. I love the periodic lightning all the time. Parasailing was really no fun

  • I love Key West but the beaches really do suck.

  • ive been there before

  • lol-he's right in saying there are lots of bars. for a moment, it reminded me of new orleans bourbon street. l love the keys!!!

  • Am driving there for the weekend and i love it there!!

  • haha! I have been going to the keys since i was born for christmas im now 15 and every year it seems like more fun. We have always rented out a house but I remember walking through this very hotels parking lot i think we even went inside for a meal because it was close to the beach we were just leaving! We know some locals pretty well and we got to go snorkeling and see some beautiful fish as well as some trolling sharks:) the nightlife is amazing especially the sunset.

  • i was living in KW for 6 years.i left it 3 months ago.miss it soooo much!!! i love it like my own town.can't wait to go see it again.

  • i carnt wait to go there i go to florida every year not been that far south before

  • I grew up in South Florida and frequently visited the keys. I disagree on things to do for kids. Parasailing, jet skiing, boat rides, and fishing can all be done by elementary school kids and up. DOnt recommend for smaller children 7 and under though and found that infants and toddlers do not have a place in Key West

  • Snorkeling too...

  • Visited Key West (from Scotland) in November....really enjoyed Key West and agree with this video 100%...really enjoyed our time there and it won't be long before we return....enjoy!!!

  • it is full of crack heads tho

    you missed that out!

  • in life in general is what your looking for is what you are going to get,i love my island and we have plenty of what ever you looking 4 if u look in the right direction and all you will see is the beautiful things look for ugly and thats what you will get this island is so special you need to spend a life time here 2 figure it out not a weekend, peace HENRY

  • Not to ruin your fun by getting back to reviewing the actual video, but this may have been the least helpful travelogue I've ever seen.

  • To IamMishey - really didn't mean anything negative w/ my statement about KW being for adults. And I'm just basing my opinion on all of the partying and stuff available (and going on)down there. I'm sure there's stuff for kids, especially those who live there, ya know, who are more aware of stuff other than "tourist-y" stuff. No offense intended.

  • Kooli, I posted my email for you but maybe they don't allow that because I replied with a list of thins to do and was over the limit so I left my email address and I don't see it I will have to read the rules and get back to you.IamMishey

  • It's a great place to be gay because you can have lots of gay mouth sex and ass fucking with random dudes. I got herpes there. Key West Rules!!!

  • sounds like you got the street names down and know where the gay/lesbian's all hang out...

haha just come out the closet bro, only someone as insecure as yourself would go out of his way to write that comment

  • I agree with all of your positive commentary. I just returned from a weekend in Key West a couple days ago. We absolutely LOVED it. And yes, it is more for adults.

  • One thing I have always said about Key West, you can be sitting at a bar and have a bum on one side of you and a millionaire on the other side and you don't know whose who and nobody cares. You can talk to anyone like they are your best friend. If you stick around long enough they will be. It is definitely NOT an adult place, it is a fantastic place to raise a child. Our 19 year old son had more culture, diversity, sports, adventures on the open seas and graduated with a full scholarship. Lovin it

  • true. I loved being raised in K.w. Now wherever I go and I say I graduated from KWHS. Everyones like WOW!! did you have to take a boat to get to school? LOVE the keys

  • All beaches on Key west are man made because the island isn't supposed to have one. It's hard to maintain. Other than that it's awesome.

  • i live in key west. it fuckin sucks. its over rated and over priced. the rich people buiuld too many hotels and condos for other rich people and charge about $300 a night for a hotel and thats a low class hotel.

  • YEA GO FLRIDA! california doesnt have this stuff!

  • Your'e better off to stay in another Key, preferably Marathon. Remember, the Florida Keys are not full of beaches. They are mainly a haven for fisherman and culture seeking people.

Key West is a little pricey to stay in on a vacation. In fact, the keys aren't cheap all around. With the prices of gas going up, a normally 24 dollar meal went up to 40 bucks at one restaurant I go to.

Key West is an attractive town to stay in if your younger and like the party/tourist lifestyle.

  • wrong again, where do you people get this stuff? You come down to the most beautiful friendly, laidback, caring place on the face of the EARTH, Stay a couple days and all of the sudden you are an authority on Key West? Key West is not only a beautiful island,it's a state of mind, and you are only as old as you feel. Open your eyes, prices are up all over america not just here, and we all know why. So vote Democrat, by all means stay in Marathon. I was an RN there and their judgemental too~

  • i found pics from somebody on vac in key west from danz50 was that you?

  • Key West is the best place on earth! I went ther once, and I will definately be going back! I recommend the "Inn at Key West" You can check out "a tribute to key west" here on you tube for pictures from my trip and pictures of the hotel!

  • very helpfull wish was there permanently I want to just go and leave every thing else behind!!!!!!!

  • I went there on feb and loved it!

the houses are amazing, so cute! and the key lime pie I ate was yummy!

the weather perfect, the bars were nice and the people was nice too.

  • I loved this review, but i have to somewhat disagree with the not much for kids. I do agree with you if your around the age of up to 10, but for teenagers like me there a lot of stuff, like ripleys, looking in the shops, the museums, the tours all that stuff is for kids but just the bars and clubs are for adults pretty much. But this video was really good, i enjoyed it.

  • im 17 year old in key west. theres nothing to do. u cant go to ripleys every week for fun. the museums ive seen about 100 times minimum. the tours are corny and boring. im not trying to be a negative ned but key west sucks for kids. its for rich people in a few years.

  • Kooly, you obviously were not born here. If you can't find fantastic adventures every day in Key West, you just are not opening your eyes. It can't just be for rich people even though I hear that all the time, because who is going to wait on their spoiled butts? I too am disgruntled about what our city commisioners and big wigs have done to our little island, but it's my home and frankly, I couldn't live anywhere else because I don't like the keepin up with the jones mentality. This is my home!

  • give me some ideas of what too do. ill go try them...maybe ill got to Dave and Busters...oh damn we dont have one...lol just give me ideas of what u do for fun. maybe youll prove me wrong and i hope u do cuz then ill have smuthing to do.

  • I posted in the wrong place scroll on down. anyway, continuing, My son is 19 and he was hardly ever home, always out doing something. He never complained of having nothing to do, just the opposite. Readmy other comment to you, I'll await your reply and we can continue this. I have gazillions of ideas. Don't forget, life has many dimensions. You can actually have fun just by helping others. I bet you think that sounds dumb. My son was very popular in school no geek and he voluntered.emailme ok

  • I was the same way. Go get your spear gun out and start hunting. Also start growing weed. I hated living there I've been gone for 5 years now and man i'm home sick all the time

  • I'm considering a job offer in Key West and your vid is very helpful. BTW, I have the same Samsung monitor.

  • Thank you for this guide...My fiance and I are planning a trip in November for our honeymoon and had decided Key West was our place. Thanks for all the great info, pictures and "tour". :-)

  • one of the nicest places in the world...so much fun and so much calm in the same time...

  • hey, nice editing

  • i live in Key west

  • It doesn't look that exciting... it seems like it would be more ideal for older people.

  • Thanks for the comments so far!

  • WOW great review!

  • Key West is a place everyone should go, especially the Hemingway house
