Don't waste your time with Skype. To make it easier, and truly multi-platform ( PC to Android to Iphone/Ipod ) use Yahoo Messenger app available for android devices with 2.2 or greater OS. It works on WiFi, 3G and 4G. Its easier and more reliable.
What i do i use camdroid to use my mobile as webcam. then i use teamviewer to see my pc screen to see my friends camera.
All u need is the same WIFI u pc is conected to, els i get disconnected of camdroid
so i can use camdroid so people are able to see me whit my phone camera. the phone camera sends it to my camdroid then i use teamviewer to see the person webcam and me in tiny.
@chieltjeuh u can do auto call to if u and ur partner have a second skype open on ur pc u have 2 skypes installed a mobile version to if u open that one u have 2 skypes and u can do 2 calls then u call person in audio call whit ur phone and u can start.
Camdroid is needed but no audio it registers that is the only bad thing.
Teamviewer is good but u cannot minimize and that's what i hate. if anyone know a better app then teamviewer please do pm me

Go with Oovoo. It works. I live in the US and I was able to video chat with people overseas. It just takes a few minutes for them to show up on my phone but they do. They were on their computer and they could see me clearly. It's awesome!

for all those who are so disappointed about fring not working...and seeing as skypes release has no video calling option...why dont you check out tango video calling...i'm not sure what phones are compatible w the app but it works great for me...

Ahhhh, doesn't work anymore I guess. Ebay ruined Skype when it was a normal program and user friendly, not to mention I called internationally for only a 1.5 cents a minute more, but with added convenience, now it's twice the price to where I call, blocked on my evo, etc.,etc.

@252TIPZ unfortunately, there's no way right now. Fring was the only way to do it and Skype has since blocked them, so we have to wait until Skype releases its own app. That could take a while since they have an exclusive with Verizon. It will probably take another 3rd party.
@treworld2 iphone 4 has many reception issues.. even the new software update failed... plus, only on wifi? that sucks.. plus att plans are a lot more expensive than sprint, plus with the htc, you get a higher res front facing camera of 1.3 meg but the iphone has only vga quality at 0.3... plus, the htc, works on 4g, 3g, and wifi.. so, bascially anywhere you are, unlike the iphone.. and you can call people on there phones, and computers with the htc.. what now??

@queststrong if you look at the date of the comment Fring was not available in the marketplace at the time. and im pretty sure "unlocking" the iphone doesn't do anything to improve it's function other than make it able to run on ther GSM networks. if you meant jailbreaking then yes I do realize that that allows the iphone to do a lot more, but compare jailbroken iphones to rooted android phones and you'll see that a android still has a lot more capability and options the user can choose from.

Video calling (Facetime) needs to be unified. That way it works for everyone. No sense in making it so difficult.
@homeflakes Go to Fring.com setup an account. Download the Fring app on your Evo. Sign in with the account you just setup. Then your good to call Skype, AIM, MSN users via Fring. This is what Androinica is doing. Once you open Fring on the Evo, hit the Menu button, select Add-Ons, then select the other apps you weant to merge with Fring. This will then add the aim,msn etc contacts to your list.

But I'm just imagining what these phones can do once they have FLASH 10.1 w/ full GPU Hardware Acceleration enabled for full Skype Flash App. Also the addition of FLASH 10.1 will mean another FLASH App coming from Google GIPS and it'll make Facetime look like trash on Apple's WiFi only AT&T iPhone! EV-DO is 3g for sprint? i thought EV standed for 2g and 1x is 3g. atleast thats what my phone doesnt it says EV all the time and sometimes it says 1x.

Hi, thank you for making this video. I see you have an HTC EVO 4G. beautiful phone, and I plan to get it as soon as it come back on market. I have one question though, I read a few articles about this phone having issues with the battery...the it depletes the battery more quicker than other phones. Is that true?
@Sadin15 It depends.. Some phones get great battery life out of the box and others don't! Im not sure why but I used to get terrible battery life but if you play around with the settings and some stuff you can last all day.
@weatherman1233 thanks for your reply! You are right, with a few adjustments and controlling the urge to play with the new phone for hours. the battery life can be increased. I am doing just that now with the EVO...reduced brightness and I close down apps which I don't need and that way the batter life is extended.

yeah.. this is kinda old tech. i live in the usa. phila metro area. i bought a n95 about 4 years ago. it had a front facing camera. i was doing video calls with it via octro to another htc touch pro on sprint. the evo does sound like a hot phone though. thanks for doing the vid now the rest of the world can get excited and i can have more people to video chat. OH! i have the nokia n900 now and it has skype integrated in to it and i just finished a very nice and clear

@atachillin05 actually you can see them. If you look at the big box, that's me on my skype laptop (work account). Then the little box on the right is me on my Skype account tied to the phone (business account). it's 2-way video calling.

it works great but the downside is that you have to be logged on to skype first from a personal computer for Fring to make it work

@bceemack3 no, there is no phone that can do that... yet... it would have to b from the phone company to allow that... which would most likely be some extra charges.

yeah.. this is kinda old tech. i live in the usa. phila metro area. i bought a n95 about 4 years ago. it had a front facing camera. i was doing video calls with it via octro to another htc touch pro on sprint. the evo does sound like a hot phone though. thanks for doing the vid now the rest of the world can get excited and i can have more people to video chat. OH! i have the nokia n900 now and it has skype integrated in to it and i just finished a very nice and clear

Since u want to be such a smart A** let me tell you why I said this is stupid. evo is the only phone that has 2 cameras but this has already been on the market. While your blabbing about the app, the app has been there just as fringe which does the same thing and more. The evo is nice but it's not the only one with a camera on the front there for this is old... Oh & your still a dumb A** next time don't jump out there, thx...

I want to get the Evo... but it seems like not enough... what ur doing can be equivalent to Ustream... and I'm pretty sure the video call drains the battery. I think a Droid Incredible with a front camera would be a superior device.

@atachillin05 actually you can see them. If you look at the big box, that's me on my skype laptop (work account). Then the little box on the right is me on my Skype account tied to the phone (business account). it's 2-way video calling.

@lilsias80 the EVO makes it easier to tell the difference between 3G and 4G. If you're on 3G, it will just say it rather than saying EV.
