Interesting that the perprtrators always seem to be able to repress their memories, whereas someone like Jan Karski. who was truly traumatized by what he saw, is clearly unable to repress it.
When he says .."It's amazing that it was saved"..what he really means is I wish that bastard had died earlier so my place in history would be forgotten.
"In July 1943, Karski again personally reported to Roosevelt about the situation in Poland. During their meeting Roosevelt suddenly interrupted his report and asked about the condition of horses in occupied Poland"...
@sharky0922 what the hell.. of course it was horrible what our nation did, but i hate it, when everybody says that the germans are the evil in person. what did mao, what did all the other dictators?
@sbomwollen Today Germany is not Nazi Germany. Germans today are no more responsible for that Holocaust than Americans today in Virginia & Georgia are to blame for racist slavery. You yourself bear not to blame in the slightest,. What is almost unimaginable the CELEBRATION by Latvia, by Ukraine, & by others, of their SS members! Not Wehrmacht, mind you, but SS!
@P1B1U1H1 :) i know that germany today isn't nazi germany. i live in germany ;)
but it sucks, that most of the germans (even the ones who were born after '45) feel guilty. we have to learn, but we shouldn't feel guilty for things, our grandparents did.
and a very big problem is that so many nations (especially the USA (I often heard shitty comments of exchange students)) still blame us and so the guilt of that time is passed on to every next generation.

@sbomwollen Mao's death count is hideously higher but we have no records, thanks to Communism. Stalin also higher, and he starved entire regions to death after taking all their crops.
@benz500r ya no kidding, they werent ueber anything, ueber evil maybe.im german myself, born and raised,im glad i wasnt around in that era,and im glad none of my family has/had blood on there hands.we were raised to respect everyone, nomatter there believe, color or race.and thats how i will raise my kids..
Lanzmann just caught another one--Dr. Grassler, deputy administrator of the Warsaw Ghetto, who didn't seem to have any recollection of anything and didn't want any. He definitely didn't like being mentioned in that diary, though. I don't blame him.

Poor memory--always a good defense. Ignorance worked nicely too it appears. How this guy escape prosecution at Nuremberg is beyond comprehension.

Those Germans called others subhumans. They called themselves uber people, but their acts proved something else.
