What Clinton did do was pay down the public debt--(the claimed surplus is relatively close to the decrease in the public debt for those years).But he paid down the public debt by borrowing far more money in the form of intergovernmental holdings.
AND Notice that while the public debt went down in each of those four years, the intergovernmental holdings went up each year by a far greater amount & in turn, the total national debt (which is public debt + intergovernmental holdings) went up. Therein lies the lie. Now dont get me wrong, I dont think Clinton did a bad job, but he did not have near the issues that Bush had to deal with, so when the libs compare apples with oranges,& do it in such a hateful way, I think its quite unfair.

Radio,I appreciate you being respectful,but there was never a surplus. Go to the US Treasury & see for yourself. When Clinton (and others) say that he paid down the national debt, that is patently false. The national debt went up every single year. What Clinton did do was pay down the public debt--(the claimed surplus is relatively close to the decrease in the public debt for those years).But he paid down the public debt by borrowing far more money in the form of intergovernmental holdings.

Therein lies the lie. If Clinton paid down this public debt you speak about then it is increased now because of the Republican revolution of the 90s and Bush in the 2000s. How come then CNN and MSNBC both talk about these figures if there is an illusion to make Clinton look like a genius compared to Bush? Bush did have a lot to deal with, but he didn't know how to handle it. During Katrina there was mismanagement and 9/11 couldn't be prevented. In addition he invaded the wrong country. How can you defend that?

I admire the hell out of Sarah Palin. Her dad was a school teacher; she had several siblings who needed to enter college in rapid succession, so Gov. Palin went to colleges that were affordable. A new survey conducted by Public Policy Polling shows 58 percent of voters would prefer to see Gov. David Paterson appoint state Attorney General Andrew Cuomo to the seat.
