@MrDrakeponder I don't know about a Neo Soul track, but it IS a well known break used by a lot of artists takinh different elements of the sample so would have seeped through regardless. I think Domino used the break but the closest to a Neo Soul track I've heard that used this was Jewell's "It's not Deep Enough" on the Above The Rim soundtrack in '92 I think. Big track. But that was an early 90s R&B/Street Soul track off the back end of the New Jack Swing era.
It's FUNNY to hear younger folks when they hear music like this and say, "Hey, they took that from so and so( whatever rapper they like). Then it becomes SAD to think they never learned about the original songs in the first place! Good stuff here, music may save the youth after all!
They have put as much effort into checkin it out, as the TAKER has in creating an original work. Music is a gift that the creative artist GIVES. What's sad is the total inversion of the process and perversion of what the TRUTH is.. True artists work hard at their craft, respect the art form enough to LEARN IT, and then they GIVE. TAKERS, suck off of someone else's sweat and effort, then attempt to pass it off as a gift. But we all know what's up with the truth, right? ;) Truth hurts..
I'm 47 years old now, how I'd love to go back in time....... just for a weekend and revisit all those clubs ( that have long since gone) and relive the atmosphere, the vibe and the music. Nardi is missing the good old days :-(
this is a good feeling song. One of my all time favorites. I use to love this group, I guess you would call this jazz fusion. I was a young child grooving to this over my older sisters house thinking that I was grown HANGING OUT!!!!
Now this was the stuff. No children NYC fine and flirting. I loved this music and Donald Byrd. Howard University really Had some bad musician and Professors of Music!
