  • Awesome lyrics

  • Hi!

    I'm Icarus, I'm falling.

  • i love her since 2004

  • Lacrimoso i a term for mournful or pathetic movement or style.

  • When was this woman NOT brilliant?

  • She is the smartest, sweetest, most genius and the .. iI don't have the words. How can there be such a person.. I know everyone says this but she is UNBELIEVABLY AMAZING

  • omg. her two greek related songs that i know (lacrimosa and oedipus) both have the same motif. you know, the one that she sings at 5:05... mother fucking brilliant.

  • @everybodypoops11 I see what you did there.

  • so two years ago i was the only one who knew about this amazing angel at school, and now word has spread and so many people know about her. im so happy. im converting them to regina-ism, that or spektography:)

  • @alicepotter777 You're really lame.

  • BEST SONG EVER:):):)

  • This song screams brilliant

  • I clicked on this song randomly and started to listen to it, and in my head I was thinking "this reminds me of Kid Icarus (the game)" and what do you know? Regina is amazing!

  • This is one of the songs that made me head over heels for Regina. Her imagery is insanely good, you can't help be moved to passionate desperation while you sing along.

  • This was the first one of Regina's older song I heard. I rememeber I could not stop listening to it. This song is so Symbolicly awesome

  • Five people are on crack

  • 5 people wouldn't know good music if it slapped them in the face!!

  • depressive song but it's orgasmic the voice's mood and piano's sound

  • Found myself Dancing to this in public...

My friend tried to exorcise the demon with control of my movements...

Eyes rolled Up into my head, Body Jerking on its own volition...

It's been a while since a song had me in so much ecstasy,

That I felt like Icarus, or Lucifer, falling out of control.

  • que hermoso, y la letra, su significado, me encanta el estilo de regina

  • IMINLOVE

  • i can so see oedipus in this near the end :)

  • me recuerda a mi ex

  • where do you find the mp3 for Regina's "songs" album? It doesn't seem to be on sale anymore...love the song btw! :)

  • @INF3darkgreen It's on thepiratebay

  • @teverde579 you're idiotic. This song came out before begin to hope. and there has only been one CD after it, and it may not be as odd and quirky, but the musician ship is still fantastic.

  • @MoniqueMakesMusic I know it came out before. That's what I meant. She was way more imaginative and artistic back then. Now pretty much all she does is silly love songs.

  • @teverde579 nah you obviously DON'T know her just get the fuck out.

  • @teverde579 She doesn't do silly love songs! Only Fidelity, that's really it. And it wasn't silly. She analyzes stories and makes songs of them (Samson, Odepis Rex). She's amazing and imaginitive.

  • I'm about to go to a party... and then i'm listening to Lacrimosa?

  • Sounds a bit like Pac Man at the beginning, lol

  • @matacoz

Ha, I never noticed that before.

  • hi im icorus im falling

  • When she says "Sit on the grass and eat all the flowers" it's like she catches herself not making any sense and tries to speak everyone else's language. ". . . and shit." it's brilliant.

  • @kendraceliseif my garden would have a fence

then the rabbits couldn't just come in

    and sit on the grass

    and eat all the flowers

    and shit.

    (i think it makes sense)

  • I'm sitting here making origami stars and listening to Regina, I really should go to bed but she is so darn addicting.

  • I just love the ending so much.

  • @alwayspoppies no it's not. Lacrimosa is a part of the Requiem Mass, and lots of composers made versions of it. Mozart is just one of them, and his version has nothing to do with this musically.

  • buenizima cancion y pensar que la escuche por casualidad

  • Words cannot describe how much or why I love Regina Spektor.

  • very.. odd song :o

  • @Beingmizzundastood

    good odd, yes? ;D

  • When she says "shit" it makes me sad. She could make me laugh at a funeral...

  • It's mainly based off of Motzart's Requium and the story of Icarus, who flew too close to the sun with wax wings, and fell to the ground. {Or broadly about how mourning is a silly custom}

Loovee this song!So darn catchy! :D

  • @singninjasing huh? what the hell does Mozart have to do with this?

  • @pete275 This song was inspired by Mozarts Lacrimosa and/or Requiem. The words she sings in Latin are from that.

  • @singninjasing icarus actually fell into the ocean. Him and his father were stranded on an island because his father had been condemned by the gods for trying to be better than them; his father was a great inventor. He created the wings so they could escape but Icarus was a foolish boy who just wanted to enjoy the sensation.

I love that she references Ovid. <3

  • @singninjasing How is mourning silly?

  • @TheGreenerItGets I don't think it's about the silliness of mourning in general, but burying the dead specifically -- take for example, "We keep on burying our dead. We keep on planting their bones in the ground, but they won't grow. The sun doesn't help and all we've got is a giant crop of names and dates."

I think there's more to it than just the burying bit, though, anyway.

  • @singninjasing if something's 'lacrymose' its intended to induce tears

  • @singninjasing he actually fell to the sea.

  • @singninjasing I don't see the relation with Mozart's requiem. 'Lacrymosa' is just a religious text.. Is this on D minor? I don't know.. Cool song, but I don't get the reference.

  • @hipocloritodecalcio the lyrics at the end in Latin are the same as the lyrics in Mozart's requiem. Search youtube for: 8.Mozart's Requiem-Lacrimosa (lyrics+translation)

  • @singninjasing It's unfortunate that Mozart passed away before he could finish that piece. :(

  • @singninjasing Nope. A requiem is just a requiem. She just used Latin text from a Latin hymn. This song does not resemble Mozart's Requiem in any way other than the text.

  • wow

    piano diminished 5ths are epic

  • disturbing its its oddity...

    Hi, I'm Icarus.

    I'm falling.

  • I very love this song, and I listen it every day... :) Really weird, but therefore great :)

  • This reminded me of her other song, Oedipus somehow and then at the end there was an Oedipus allusion. WEIRD.

  • Then the rabbits couldn't just come in, and sit on the grass, and eat all the flowers, and shit. XD

  • XD that always got me too, no matter how much this song touches me I can't help but want to laugh then, it's like, shit? wtf?

  • so true! I love that part! lol

  • hi, I'm icarus

    I'm falling...

  • Me recuerda a una chava que me gusta pero yo no le gusto :D

  • Que genial!

    ella es la onda!

    y canta bien genial

  • I LOVE THIS MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i love this song too!

  • I just noticed that you spelled her name Regina Spketor... :-P

  • this song is the shizz. x3
