We actually need to pull out of the EU to really protect our borders. The UK was one of only 3 countries that gave all new EU citizens (Poland) work rights. Look what happened. Watching this for the first time, like many of the other responses, I was rather disgusted. Too watch how all these people were being put through torture just because they want a better life. The NHS budget would collapse, government benefit would dry up and unemployment would sky rocket. Sharia law would envelope the legal system and dishonesty, corruption and terrorism has been shown to be higher in asylum seekers. Nevertheless, preference is given to Afgans because of our involvement in war.

The current benifit system doesn't help people rise out of poverty, it just gives money to people who are not in work for whatever reason-the Conservatives will make people work for their benifits which will "help people rise out of poverty" by getting them back into working. As for sorting out the asylum-seekers from the economic migrants, these people have traveled across hundreds of miles of safe countries to get here.

We actually need to pull out of the EU to really protect our borders. The UK was one of only 3 countries that gave all new EU citizens (Poland) work rights. Look what happened. Now Bulgaria and Romania are members too and only restrictions are stopping more migration. We need to protect our borders and deal with people that call us racists for doing so.

I though perhaps that the hot weather had something to do with the trouble in the Middle East, but what happens when English people colonise a hot country...i.e Australia? You get paradise. Africa would be the same too, if it was full of English people.

@cookdave So one of the highest rate of teenage mothers in the world, one of the worst primary education systems, worst in Europe childcare are simply indicators of that glory. Unfortunately it is not ethnic minority illegal migrants who constitute those glorious figures. Not to mention that Muslim are not au fait with alcohol. @huskiPL Well I don't claim that immigrants are causing all the the problems. But flooding our country with them while simultaneously grinding the population into poverty just creates a powder keg waiting to go off.
Its testament to the British sense of open mindedness and fair play that we've assimilated as much as we have done. If 1 million British people turned up on Poland's doorstep I can assure you that we wouldn't have experienced such a warm welcome.

@huskiPL The UK isn't part of the Schengen zone, and those that were part of it negotiated opt outs in 2005 so that they weren't flooded with citizens from the new member states. The UK didn't do this of course because our forward thinking diversity loving liberal gov't and thought a few thousand would come over.

The migrants speak of their desire to enter the UK and what is wrong with that? What this film shows is the squalid conditions under which the migrants live in the Jungle of Calais. The 2000 plus migrants live in fear of being arrested by police of whom there is a heavy presence around the camp, numbering about 3000 strong.
The films message is unorthodox but clear: everyone should have the freedom to go where-ever they want and for what ever reason.

I think that the history will repeat itself: the Calais jungle camp has been cleared today and new camp soon is going to be built. The Red Cross camp in Sangatte was closed and new one was formed. The shout of those who dream freedom and a better future is going to land somewhere again.
At the moment just sorrow but the problem is still there!

This is a powerful video that highlights exactly what is wrong witht the whole discussion around immigration. The biggest problem is that we have come to see immigration laws as normal and they are not. They dehumanise people. Perhaps we can envisage living in a better world which is not divided by such disgusting laws as immigration laws that promote global apartheid and leave those without money out of luck.

Watching this for the first time, like many of the other responses, I was rather disgusted. Too watch how all these people were being put through torture just because they want a better life. Being put to a centre after all that horrific travelling..getting no where. Is it so wrong to seek a better life? But now they are "clearing" it. What will happen to these people? I hope they will be able to seek a better life.
