  • Ice skating on skiis (:

  • Ballet skiing goes back to the mid-seventies. Actually started with Wayne Wong and "Hotdog" skiing early seventies.

  • @dspin720

I know. I discover Hotdog skiing with Wayne Wong in a Pepsi TV commercial in the early 70'.

But accroski did die as a World Cup discipline in 1999.

  • type in "ski crashes" in the youtube search and click the video with stars in the title to be shocked!

  • Whats a general ski length for a ballet ski? looks 150-160?

  • @phil656565 80% of your height. Average guy like me (5,8") were on 140cm. Tall guy were on 150cm. Women were mostly on 130cm.

  • @raycyr alright thank you, bout 145 for me then, is there a cold chance in hell i could find any accroski poles?

  • @phil656565

Mmmmm, this is not gona be easy. Look for Leki ballet ski pole on Google, you might fond something. I still have mine, but i know a lot of ballet skier from the 90' that have trashed their ballet ski and poles.

    Good luck!

  • @raycyr thats what i figured, thanks

  • this is more creative than most of today's ski videos!

  • any1 know song name?

  • @WaRnEr1080

    "White lines" from Duran Duran

Originaly from Grand Master and Mele Mel

  • HAHAHAHAHAHA! Not to mention the Barney onesie!

  • HAHAHAHAHAHA! Not to mention the Barney onesie!

  • St-sauveur, QC ?

  • @ImJAHpeople

    YES, in 1992.

  • what an incredible lost art

  • fucking badass.

  • Does anyone know the song?

  • White Lines from Duran Duran

  • hahaha epic ^^

  • looks like an awesome way to tear an acl

  • Some one should do this at a ski aea today and see what reaction they get xD

  • the skiing plus this song is unbeatable.

  • OMG this is immense! That bad boy has some skills!

  • skills...

  • wow..

  • Wow, this dude has mad skills! Im off to learn some of this shit, although you must need immense upper body strength and flexibility!!

  • ray, how can i teach my self these skills!?

  • Well there is no magic ways. You got to try, try and re-try. If you have some friends that are up to learn it with you, that help a lot... but remember, it take time and determination.

  • AFTERBANG!

  • hahaha

  • mad steeze right there

  • up there with tannner easily this is so steeeze, you dont even need to pul them pants down, this is the defenition of steeze

  • you know as gay as people say this sport is. It's still pretty hard to do and you know if people saw Tanner Hall or CR Johnson doing some of this stuff they would hail it as pretty sick.

  • During the winter Olympic on 1988 and 1992, the ballet was a demonstration event. Unfortunatly, ballet did not became an Olympic event because it was not represented by a least 25 country. Ballet slowly lost exposure and participant on the WorldCup. In 1999, the FIS remove it from the freestyle.

    Shame on you, FIS.

  • why did the FIS remove this sport?

  • talent

  • i wish i could do that

  • I'm a snowboarder, and I don't just flip out because you went upside down, but you have absolutely crazy steeze. Your style was flawless, I can't believe I don't see more of this.

  • I agree.

  • I found you.

  • skiing has turned into a non-ballet thing, if you know what I mean, it's pretty hard to miss. Less artsy and more "hardcore".. Not to say that this isn't, but it's another "type" of "hardcore".. Particularly the spins, but the flips (vertical) were :o inducing.

  • Hey Ray...

    Great thing... go on .

I Think that somehtime it will be a revival of that

    great sport...

    I'm still practiceing it...

The new frestyle doesn't have any elegance...

  • Thanks, I'm still practicing too once in a while. But at 45 year old, my head remember how to do the tricks, but the body has some problem to follow.

  • Flatland 720's not bad... not bad

  • 1:30 is crazy

  • In 92 this guy was king. Now...not so much.

  • any1 know the song?

  • "White Lines" from Duran Duran.

Original version from Grand Master Flash

  • awesome!!!!!!!!

  • Yeah, its a bit gay, but pretty skillful - I'd never heard of Acroski until looking at the list of discontinued Winter Olympic Sports on Wiki.

I actually do a bit of this kind of thing when on the little paths that connect the proper runs - they are so flat you'd be just skiing along in a straight line otherwise - so for fun I'll put some spins in, nollie 360s that kind of thing just to keep it interesting. Never seen a 360 using the poles like that - I always nollie - will with try poles now

  • What song is playing in the background?

  • White Lines from Duran Duran.

    Original song fromvGrand Master Flash

  • r u seriouse

  • sick suit!! haha

  • dude i want ot acro ski now so bad

    totally inspired

  • OMG !!

  • id way rather be able to do this then what i do now (according to what ive read the kiddies boxes and big air) this looks so much more fun, if i pulled that at an airials comp id come first for sure!

  • I can't believe you never competed. I thought this was video of Lane Spina at first.

  • Well, Lane SPina was one of my inspiration, and of course, Herman Reigtberger.

  • You brought back old memories...

    Thanks!

  • Awesome routine... Looks and sounds a lot like my lil' brother's routine..

Remember Mosley's "Dinner Roll" and 360 Grab in the bumps??? Many of the guys he competed against were doing acro as well. Try to call Mosley a fag. We ski'd better than most jibb-kiddies do today.

  • Call it gay or whatever. If it wasn't for us cranking out "ballet" routines (now known as acro) with our walkmans jamming, you little kiddies sport of rails, boxes, and big air jumps would never exist. We started it all. Show some repect!

  • Great to se some acro on you tube! Really good skiing, thought I read in a comment you never competed, that can not be right or? You should have great tricks!/ former World Cup Acroskier

  • It's right, i did never competed. I did almost 16 years of ballet ski, just for the pleasure, the passion with no stress from juges.

I miss it a lot now.

  • that guys a bamf, the editing is super annoying though. Not bad just super annoying

  • jk hes not gay, its actually pretty sick in some respects.

  • if there aren't any rails or jumps I try to do stuff along the same line on.y not as tech and buttfuckingly gay

  • i dont care how gay this guy looks, hes got skill!

  • i like it

  • Name of the song?

  • White lines, from Duran Duran.

  • I think you understood what "skiing" really is. lol...! joke

    very cool

  • I strive to one day be as good as this guy, right now I have polish donuts, tip rolls, and worm turns down, now I need to practice more.

i have some skiing vids on my channel check em out.

  • this is fuckin awesome

  • Nice !

  • genial!!

  • le mec a une combinaison qui déchier et un style tres particulier

  • Tu sais, le tout date de 1992... la combinaison, le style. Ce sont de beaux souvenirs tout de même. Signé: le gars du film (cousin du Québec)

  • im going to bring back accroskiing

  • Cette année je mis met !!!!

  • Sick he spins more then a washer machine

  • sick

  • nice

  • SO SWEET I LOVE YOU... I NEED TO LEARN THIS hahaha

  • ;]yes!

  • I remember, before we had real ballet ski pole, my friend and me were making our ballet pole using 3/4" aluminum tube on what we insert the tip of a real ski pole at one end and the grip at the other end. They were a bit heavier than a real LEKI pole but they were ok for any pole flip and axels.

  • Do you know the name of the skier?

  • Yes, its me. Raymond Cyr, from Montreal Canada.

    I have never compete.

  • Awesome job! Do you still acro ski?

  • i stop about 6 years ago. I'm 43 now. My head still know how to do the tricks but i would probably heart myself trying the most difficult one.

I miss that sports. Are you the one doing the accroski on your video clip? Those move are very well executed.

  • Yes, I am creating short demo videos incase someone out there may want to teach themselves the basics. I to am 43 and live in Minnesota. I am out of shape but i still enjoy spinning a bit. My kids 11 & 13 are trying to learn a few tricks. I will continue to add videos throughout this season.

  • I coach the Freestyle team at Hyland Hills in MN. Come out some Tuesday or Thursday night and show our kids those mad skills!!!!

  • The two videos were taken at night 3 weeks ago and two weeks ago. I am looking to rig up some long ski poles. Any suggestions? I would like to at the least add some inside and outside axles. Also what version of "White Line" is used in your video?

    That was a great choice.

  • WoW!

Respect for that guy. Noone can do that anymore ...or want to :) I could kill to get that outfit.

  • im not sure what impresses me the most, the skills or the clothes...?

  • Well, that was the trend in 1990.

    Thank's God, it's not anymore.
