I loved meeting her too! She is super sweet. I met her back in December and gave her a necklack I got while I was working in Africa over the summer. We talked for a while and she kept asking me all about Africa and what I did and then insisted on reading the card I wrote her with me standing there. Then she went over and told her mom about me before coming back to meet the other fans. Haha I am such a huge fan of hers I was impressed I could form words myself!
Yea I'm with you. I bow at Emmylou's name and got on her bus for an autograph and all I could say was bra blob baa da sa gog wah. She signed the pickguard on my guitar and it took all the strength and energy I could muster to say (in english) thank you so much . This coming from a man that has never been speechless. Two feet away from greatness. It was about all I could handle. If I had gotten any closer I would have melted like the wicked witch of the north. I'm melting, I'm melting ...
Hahaha. That's funny. I had the exact same experience meeting another artist. I won't mention her name because, while I have been a life long fan and love her, she just doesn't have the same stature as Emmylou Harris. I'm sure I'd manage to say even less if I ever had the good grace to meet Emmylou face to face.
The "bow at Emmylou's name" phrase being tossed around here is a theme to which I can definitely relate.
Oh yes and also I couldn't be in the same room with these two womwen because I could not act responcibly. I also am not sure if my heart could take it either.
Fuck that Kelly Clarkson/ Reba McIntire ruination of Patty's "Up To The Mountain". This is the best. Patty is Emmy's best sining partner since Gram Parsons, and Neil Young. Or Dolly, Linda and Lucinda.
Anyone doing Patty's songs is good because it let's others know about Patty who may never have otherwise. I hope those 2 record it so Patty will get some good publishing bux.
EXACTLY!! I had never heard of her or her music before, and nor had any of my friends. So if it hadn't been for Kelly covering her songs, I would have missed out... and I think Kelly does an amazing job!! Obviously Patty does them better, cause they're HER songs. she couldn't do "Because Of You" as well as Kelly, because that is KELLY'S song. =) Kelly and Patty are both my FAVOURITE artists!!! no one can top them! (in my opinion, hehe)
There is NO way these two lovely ladies can NOT sing beautifully together.
Example: N.Maines sings harmony on 'Mary,' at a Tsunami Relief Concert in 06. She does most of it well, but in the La-la-la ending, the best she can do is reprise ONE small bit of the harmonies that Miss Harris graced the same song with on Patty's live record, "A Kiss In Time." No discredit to Miss Maines; Emmylou sings harmony the same way that the rest of us breathe.
That was awesome!

I had the same experience meeting Emmylou. Never been star struck before, but I couldn't form words. I could only smile and nod my head like a dummy.

If you didn't know already- in Patty's album "Children Running Through", on "Trapeze" Emmylou provides the gorgeous harmony.
Just in case you'd like to hear a really high quality recording of this song. (No offense intended to limitations of Flash a-v.)
