  • Anyone know where I can get a copy of this version of the song?

  • seriously!

  • elton the great

  • Not as good as Wembley 1984...

  • he nailed this one alright!

  • that hair happened, and we let it happen

  • A remixed chorus of im still standing.

  • Does anyone know what he`s playing at the start

  • Should be called im still singing cough cough splutter. Well done for carrying on

  • @supermanhotmale ..... hahahahahahaha

  • Loosing his youthful voice there I see. That's what you get if you stuff cocaine up your nose; drink too much; and sing songs which in reality are too high out of your vocal range.

  • ...And add to that doing 10 shows in a row, oversing, overtour, record an album WHILE touring--then you get result of Elton hitting multiple notes at once!

  • Those horns are disgusting! Definitely not needed.

  • thanks ...many thanks for sharing...

  • Long live sir elton !

  • LOVE the hair! :DD

  • He could make that intro a 20 second record and sell it.

  • Yup. He's my inspiration for playing piano :)

  • 00000000000hh, that intro just feels soooo good, lol. Too short, tho'. still, Love those 20 seconds.

  • In total agreement. My favorite song just got the best intro of all time!!!

  • i listen to the intro again and again :P damn it's good

  • Some intro!!!

  • One of the greatest all-time versions of this song.

  • I love the look at 0:23 its just the way Elton looks at the crowd... He's good and he knows it! I Love this man so much... seen him 9 times... Always always in my heart!

  • One of the best concerts ever even though this happened before I was born.

  • Sheer brilliance.

  • amazing:)))))))) love that intro...dammm i love so mutch:)))

  • very nice Elton

  • Again, best version of this song; love the horn arrangement and the piano intro! Super!

  • I wish this was on dvd

  • is this the same concert when he collapsed on stage?

  • i think he turned into a baritone before surgery

  • I think youre right. His tenor range lost its power in the very early 80's by this time the drugs and over stretching of his vocal chords had taken their toll

  • Nah, he still had his range in the early 80s, it was around 1986 when his range started getting messed up.

  • @Gregsynth that's more or less what I ment I just may have phrased it wrong.

  • @Gregsynth Still though, this is a very good performance of this song! The piano intro is epic and Tina is wonderful here .. wait a second :P

  • Yep! :D

  • @Gregsynth He had the operation on his throat the week after this concert at St Vincent's Hospital in Darlinghurst

  • Damn! He pulled like half a dozen shows in a row (with his voice like this), then gets an operation right after! He's got balls singing for 3 hours every concert like that!

  • @Gregsynth He did two whole legs with his voice in this shape! What a guy!

  • His "medicine" helped him! :D

  • @Gregsynth I'd like some of that medicine!

  • I NEED it!

  • @Gregsynth Hahahaha! Mumble or Skype now? :)

  • Mumble!

  • @formulaonemad Change that, this leg and some of the previous leg! :P

  • i bet he was so blown here.

  • I love Elton John! To think, artist now think they need to have 50 background singers to put on a show when all they need is some musical talent and a great voice. A little flamboyance doesnt hurt either

  • amazing costume, i want the saame =)

i really love it, that's elton john!

and no one can beat him!

  • The intro is simply spectacular!

  • I definately agree! That whole interlude at the end is freaking great too!

  • @bobdole9696 you are spot on - what a legend he is....

  • @bobdole9696 and the rest is amazing!!!!

  • in the 70's /80's he used pull some right faces he doesnt do that now and he doesnt dress outrageously anymore

  • You have great taste!

  • ye ye ye

  • he does that intro these days when he does it solo

  • Yeeeeeeeeaaaaah You can never know what is like (8)

  • i dont get elton john he played im still standing quite fast in the 80's now fast forward to the 21st century he plays the song very slow

  • getting older.. :-D

  • My favourite Elton John song!

  • what a cool wig. it sounds like his voice was getting deeper and it sounds like post throat surgery as well

  • This was actually before his surgery

  • he lost his voice during the live in australia tour didn't he? he had his surgery in jan 87 i think so this would could of been late 86. you can definetly tell it got deeper due to his drug use

  • It wasn't the drugs that screwed his voice up; it was the complete abuse of his voice when he was ON drugs that gave him the nodules.

  • you're right!

Usually a singer uses specific techniques which enables him to sing for a long time. Without techniques you get signals from your body to stop singing or make slow in order to avoid destroying your voice. But when you're high, your so pushed that you don't notice any Stop Signs

  • thank you for this post

  • Elton John Fantastic poor.

    Great posting.
