  • 21 people were too drunk to hit the like button

  • @RedEyesWhiteStonerr , drunk and most likely thought the dislike button was a shadow of E.T's head

  • LOL

  • "Like" for the The Dead Milkmen section in the record store being right beside The Dead Kennedys

  • im 15 again in s.f., and just dropped acid for the first of many times. this didnt make sense then, and at 42, it still doesnt today. the acid was killer tho.

  • does anyone else know that Jello joined politics to change it

  • i have dave grohls biography to thank for my discovery of REAL punk. dead kennedys, bad brains and minor threat are amazing bands. im always looking for new stuff to listen to when it REALLY i should be listening to older stuff like these guys. my friends all enjoy NEW punk and NONE of that would have been able to happen if there werent bands like this. we should spread the word and prove punks not dead i wish i wAs around to see these awesome bands live.just 20 years to late i guess '99 SUCKED

  • Stop arguing men, just shut up and enjoy this masterpiece OR fuck off!!! Stop comparing bands, they have different styles in playing and it doesn't matter who's better or worse as long as they're enjoying themselves

  • when people argure back to stupid comments ur pretty much feeding all the trolls XD

  • I thank punk, why 'cause without it there'd be no thrash metal without it and it also sounds really good why the fuck would I be here if I didn't like it.

  • Been listenin to them for 20+ years rock on donkey kong lol

  • sellouts are people who bust out their freinds and family to make it to the big time.....if a punk band makes it to the big time then more thanks to em.......this day an age i hope punk bands make it to the top becuse its about time we punks had our say like we used to.....i mean hell im in a punk band and we dont see ourselves getting any more large than we already are becuse i dont care about fame i care about playin good music with good freinds

  • @darkwattie227 Stick to it. I grew up watching The Offspring play in garages or at house parties back in the day, and now they are huge. Punk lives forever!

  • @pbbeachbum09 agreed.....agreed....

  • @darkwattie227 exactly.

  • @darkwattie227

this is the greatest i ever heard an i heard it a milion times got it as i got it as my ring tone fukin good music any cunt rings me they gotta wait bless u dks

  • @darkwattie227 as Henry Rollins said (not in his exact words, but you get the idea).. selling out isn't getting rich off your own music, if you can, you earned it.. Selling out is when you play the music you're told to make by the record companies for the sake of success.

  • @HAYDS510 thats what im tryin to say as well......if you have the chance go for it.....but if it means giving up your family and freinds then just say fuck it

  • @darkwattie227 well said mate. i'm 46 and i lived, ate and shit the punk scene and always will. great times when nothing else mattered.

  • don't you listen to the message,sell-out's are the x-factor and the celebrity come danc'in not us ya divy it's the dross feeders in media. not us we're free to watch, listen and feel who we like it's the dross facter that's sold out. get real.

  • punk is not dead you fucking asshole

  • right in the ass bitch

  • PUNK is DEAD

  • @thejayoto fuck you

  • @thejayoto you dick

  • I find it humorous the word nigger is used in this song, yet no one has said anything about it. The punk community is so much more tolerant about what people say it would seem =3

  • @canuckleful point taken

  • Look at it this way, no person EVER has been perfect so you can't disregard all the achievments of a person, or a band, if they do something you don't agree with. I for one hate Green Day today, but I still think they were a great modern punk band in their prime and should be comended for it. They shouldn't be disregarded for making a bad decision, even one so bad as selling out.

  • @1rd2th3st A solid point, you're right. But I think you agree that TODAY, non-punks shouldn't be fooled into believing 21st century brakedown is punk.

  • Okay, so let me get this straight... When a band doesn't make it big time, everyone thinks that they're amazing and that they deserve to be famous, but when a band DOES get signed to a major label, they're sellouts? I hate that other bands always have to get involved in the comments of OTHER bands' videos. I love the Dead Kennedys and I love Green Day. I've seen them both in concert and they're fucking amazing musicians.

  • @lastoftheAZNGIRLS I agree with you, man.

  • @lastoftheAZNGIRLS /agrees completely!

  • @lastoftheAZNGIRLS GreenDay claim to be Punks. That's what we mean. They aren't, they're rich, and life is good.

  • @canuckleful No one ever said that the definition of a punk is being rich and having a nice life... That has absolutely nothing to do with it, actually. Also, when somebody says that they're punk, you can't automatically label them as a poser/sellout/etc. I'm pretty sure Green Day used to be just like that when they were younger, but they learned. I've met East Bay Ray and I've met Billie Joe. They're both awesome and they're both punk rock.

  • @lastoftheAZNGIRLS I have not met either. I do unfortunately still disagree however, I'm sorry. I just can't call a rich man a punk, because he can't be in my eyes.

  • @canuckleful Yeah, I understand

  • @lastoftheAZNGIRLS I agree with one of your other posts that they evolved and changed. Green Day burned a lot of Bridges in the Punk Rock Community when they signed with the label they did. I can't Blame them for getting paid for what they love but in the eyes of a lot of people they went from saying one thing and doing another. They always felt more groomed than previous punk bands.

To me Greenday never sounded Punk they were always more alternative riding the coat tails of grunge

  • @halzar agreed. I don't really think their music is punk now. I think them as people are still punk, but not everyone will be happy with what they've become today.

  • @lastoftheAZNGIRLS someone who gets it! Fuck genres. It's about music. Green Day got me into the Dead Kennedys 10 years ago and my music taste has changed greatly. Also I still enjoy both groups (though I went through a lame 3 year period where I was saying Green Day sold out...which they did whore out a bit but so did the Dead Kennedys. We're all evil so fuck it.

  • @lastoftheAZNGIRLS Bands arnt sell outs for signing onto major lables. Its when these pop punk bands like green day and blink 182 wana claim punk roots but abandon there sound to play what the record company wants them to. Green day is the biggest sell out from there first album to there latest theres such a dramatic change in sound, Irgaurdless of how good you may think they sound. They changed for the record company to make a buck.

  • @lastoftheAZNGIRLS It's not that there selling out, it's that they compromise their music to get the major labels.

  • @lastoftheAZNGIRLS here here.

  • @lastoftheAZNGIRLS You saw Dead Kennedys without Jello. It's like drinking a glass of milk without milk. You think, all the hate famous bands get is because of their fame but it's not true. The Offspring are a famous band. I haven't seen their advertisements in Time Square though - but I saw fuckin' huge GD's American Idiot banner. I don't like when music becomes a product. Famous bands have their fans who buy records. Who needs commercials with a "BUY IT" message?

  • @MrSelfHater I know you're trying to say something intelligent, but I really don't understand it. My bottom line is that punk is about doing whatever the fuck you want. Green Day's genre may not be labeled as punk anymore, but their decision to grow up and start writing more intelligent and thought-provoking material is definitely punk.

  • @lastoftheAZNGIRLS There are many paths you can go with your intelligence. DK had intelligent, but agressive and kinda straight-forward lyrics. Bad Religion have really great philosophical lyrics about problems with society's mentality which are very inteligent too. Black Flag had awesome, intelligent lyrics about our own mentality and they were also intelligent. Writing intelligent lyrics has nothing to do with commerce, changing music genre or whatever.

  • @lastoftheAZNGIRLS You're right - they're (GD) not labeled punk. They shouldn't be. And yeah, cool that you know my intentions, that I'm "trying" to type something intelligent here. It's useless without being understood though. I see you're defending band you like as much as you can. Good job, but it won't make them more punk, less sellouts or better musicans.

  • @MrSelfHater You're right. I do think they're a great band, hence my comments defending them. I have begun to feel that it's useless defending bands. Like Green Day, my music taste/understanding has matured. I used to be exactly like a lot of these people; I hated Green Day, Blink-182, Linkin Park(still sorta do), etc. But I decided to stop and grow up. I'll always think they're punk for what they did and there's no changing your opinion on that.

  • @lastoftheAZNGIRLS It's not that I hate these bands. It's just - I do not care about them. They exist, have concerts, some people listen to them and I don't really mind that. I still don't even think about calling bands like that "punk". At least this thing what they become - I do like old GD's stuff. You sing nice :)

  • @MrSelfHater Yeah I get it. I'm honestly not the biggest fan of their newer stuff; I like Kerplunk and 1039 the most. Truth is, punk is pretty much dead, but that can't stop all of us from continuing to listen to it :) And thanks :D

  • @lastoftheAZNGIRLS Nah, it's not dead. It may not have that huge impact like in the 80's but how can you say it's dead when bands like Off!, BR, NOFX, Pennywise, Social Distortion, Sick Of It All, Bouncing Souls, H2O, Social Distortion, Discharge, Tragedy and many more are around. It's damn alive and if you keep enough attention, you'll see it doesn't want anyone to forget it.

  • @lastoftheAZNGIRLS Yeah, Social Ditortion twice lol. But hey, they're awesome enough to be mentioned even five times

  • @lastoftheAZNGIRLS Thank you! Very well said.

  • @lastoftheAZNGIRLS Only reason Dead Kennedys sold out was because of Brandon Cruz. Just saying.

  • @NiggaPlease2311 I never said they sold out, but yeah okay... I agree with another comment where they say "selling out" is where you bust out your friends and family or bring others down to make it to the big time. If you make it to the big time, well kudos to you, my good sir.

  • @lastoftheAZNGIRLS Was thinking, "Hell yeah!" Then read Green Day. Putting Jello Biafra and Billy Joe or whoever the Green Day guy is on the same level is kind of heretical to me.

  • @Seraphimal First, *Billie Joe *hysterical (I assume this because the word heretical has nothing to do with what we're talking about). Second, what...? I wouldn't say they're both on the same level, but I think they're both awesome and amazingly talented on numerous levels.

  • @lastoftheAZNGIRLS

There's a few problems with what you just said. First of all, I agree with your general sentiment, being "signing with a major label doesn't necessarily make you a sell-out." The White Stripes are a great example of a band who signed to a major label and did not sell out. Green Day, on the other hand, changed their sound to get on the radio. Listen to Dookie, then listen to their most recent album. It's obvious. Musically, also, Green Day couldn't hold a candle to DK.

  • @mussman717word Now, there's a problem with what you said. There's such a thing as "growing up" or "evolving". Yes, their earlier stuff is much better, but I don't think it's cool when a band does the same thing for decades. And have you heard their most recent stuff that's gonna be on the newer album? I honestly think it sounds much better (of course, can't compare to dookie). Also, I'm not saying GD and DK are at the same level. DK has done much more for the punk community.

  • @lastoftheAZNGIRLS

I've got no problems with evolution, but expanding and conforming your sound are two entirely different things.

  • @mussman717word oh my god they didn't conform their sound. They may not have evolved to your liking, but that doesn't mean that they're conforming their sound. Their music, to them, is what they are going through/witnessing in the 21st century. Back then, they were young and wrote about girls, drugs, etc. Well, now they're writing about problems they're facing NOW.

  • @lastoftheAZNGIRLS

Lyrics aside, the production is totally geared toward mass approval, fact. I'm dropping this now. Bye.

  • @mussman717word Wow. What a cop out.

  • @lastoftheAZNGIRLS

    How so?

  • @mussman717word Oh, so you're not dropping it? Okay. Well, how do you know that their music was "totally geared toward mass approval"? You're just assuming that because they sound different now. I'm not quite sure you understand what it means to "sellout". I admit that the musical and the upcoming movie are taking things a bit far, but I don't get all butthurt about it. It's great for them that they've achieved so much, but I wouldn't say they sold out.

  • @lastoftheAZNGIRLS

First of all, I'm not butt-hurt. I was never even a fan or not in the first place, which gives me the clarity to speak objectively about it. It doesn't take a studio technician to see how overproduced these last few albums have been. I shouldn't even have to explain this to you. The vocal effects, the toned-down instrumental production, the melodic cliches... if you're into that shit, whatever, but don't ever compare that outright shit to DK.

  • @mussman717word I guess you didn't get it when I agreed that the past few albums have been overproduced. I just don't really listen to the newer albums, but I'll still think they're punk. I obviously don't think their music is still punk, but I think they're punk as people. And for, I don't know, the third time? I'm not comparing them to DK. They're two completely different bands. I do agree they let the producers take over too much, but I won't believe they sold out.

  • Fuck Green Day! Billy Joe is a worm!!

  • @AssassinJ2 Actually if it sold out, its wouldn't be punk anymore. That eliminates one possible downfall!

  • Kick ass song -3

  • great version. Sounds bit different from original lp version- drums great

  • Unlike jello, he is quite an old school liberal (the truest kind). Howcome modern day liberals love dictators like Pol Pot and Mao and others? I don't understand why the left idolizes them, Che is another example. Go to a left wing rally and you'll see Che shirts made in china and sold at wal mart shirts. It would be hilarious if it wasn't so sad...

  • turn the DK sign 90degrees and it looks like an illuminati sign :L:L not that i believe any of that shit, just think its funny =]

  • @Sitch27 Attention. In september last year I went to a gig here in Geneva (Switzerland) to see Jello Biafra and the guantamo school of medicine. Well guess what, the ticket price was only around 20 bucks. I don't think that Mr. Biafra is all about money...

  • @Fairyplay i know, i was being sarcastic

  • @rcbmxify WHY YA SUPPORT SOMETHING THAT COSTS LIFES? WHY YA SUPPORT A WAR THATS GOING ON ONLY FOR SOME COUNTRIES TO GRAB NATURAL RESOURCES FROM SOMEWHERE ELSE? WHY YA SUPPORT A WAR WITCH WAS STARTED BY A GOVERNMENT AND NOT FROM YOU? WHY YA SUPPORT A WAR THAT CAN DESTROY THIS POOR PLANET? WHY YA LISTENING TO DEAD KENNEDYS GOD DAMNIT?

  • @gaspJUNGLEeverywhere your an idiot i never said i was supporting war i only said i supported the men and women protecting us and as for it costing lives think of it this way if lives werent taken for this country you wouldnt be able to say what you just said to me you would have no free speech and what about 9/11 huh? was that not innocent people dieing?!?!?!?! that gives us the perfect reason to go over there and kick some ass war isnt just killing one of MY friends is over there right now...

  • @rcbmxify well compare how many dead americans there are from the war and how many dead people from the attacked countries

  • ....as i was saying my friend is over there and he hasnt ever shot at anyone he has been helping the citezens of that country by provideing medical aide rebuilding towns and giving food to people who need it the locals are glad that our men and women are there because without them they would still be getting killed by they're own leaders and if we let other countries push us around they are gunna think they can take whatever they want from us that is why i am pissed at obama for apologizing

  • @rcbmxify well helping people is always good..i'm totally against though at someone saying having troops at another country is good..cause your friend was helping people but another 3000 guys were killing people man

  • @GazEccleston Thanks For this information =)

  • @xheavymotorheadx

Seriously it's the two words in the fucking description

  • Punk can be Old-school (Sex Pistols/Ramones). Punk can be Hardcore (Dead Kennedies/Exploited). Punk can be Horror (Misfits). Punk can be Pop Punk (Buzzcocks). Punk can be many things. But there are 2 things punk is not.

    1. Dead

    2. Sellout.

PUNK'S NOT DEAD!!! And may it never sellout.

  • @AssassinJ2 But what if a band was punk in their early years, but then sold out, does that mean they were never punk in the first place?(e.g Green Day).

  • @TrueKeyBladeGamer i never will consider green day a punk band, just because the dress like US doesnt mean they are, none of the songs are even that punk
