IMO, if there is a great central universal entity (that you could call "God") who is truly omnipresent, all-knowing and the creator of everything else, it's probably different from anything that we humans can comprehend, or any of our books can describe. We just have countless different views of what "God" is and whether we can trust him/her/it, hence all these religions.
Of course, I'm an agnostic (and a moralist). Some people will think differently.
@MegaFafnir I completely agree. If there was truly a "perfect and limitless" god, our limited human minds would not be able to comprehend it, let alone try to define it. Not only is trying to define something like that futile and moronic, but also extremely egotistical to claim that one person or group is capable of that comprehension while the rest of the world are not. Real Christ-like right?
No one gave Lucifer freedom. Angels followed with no question god's will. When ruler put them in service of man -- for Lucifer this is insult. And why would stood against "god" if he is all-powerful -- form of suicide?! If Lucifer is excuse for bad things, then god is not all-knowing and merciful to torture all just to check people.
Adam and Eve have no free will, too -- have right to walk naked and brainless :) in the garden, then Lucifer allure them. /As Prometheus gave the fire to the man./ This from the "holly" books can be only technically more strong creature but not real God, as indians thought first europeans for the returning gods...
Lucifer is problematic for one, because of his hatred for God he would probably like to see all his creation be thrown into Hell. Thus, things like the blasphemy challenge are created to damn people to Hell. I pray that those who take that challenge do not truly feel that in their hearts and that the Lord has mercy on them. You could think of it this way, Lucifer waged war on God, after do you think he just gave up? Why would he? God loves you and wants you to be saved Lucifer wants you damned
More than anything I think it's their fear of death combined with an inability to imagine not existing. We didn't exist for 13.7 billion years before this life, so I imagine that not existing afterward will be equally sublime.
Here's the thing about the Satan story. If Satan and 1/3 of the "heavenly host" turned against god - even though, according to the story, they *knew* he was god - why wouldn't god make his presence absolutely and unequivocally clear to *us*? Apparently we would still be free to follow or not - just like Satan. There is no reason to "test our faith". That's just absurd!
Yah, so basically we are expected to believe that angels capable of looking Yahweh in the face chose to turn away from him. If there was any reason to support a God, it would be because you could see and directly interact with him. If angels can't even keep their faith, what the hell did they expect from mortal man that does not have the same knowledge???
Actually, according to Jewish scripture,Satan(Lucifer is a catholic made up name, means, bringer of the light)Satan refused to bow down to man,as he would only bow down to Jehovah, believing only Jehovah deserved worship.Actually Satan was the highest ranking angel of heaven, and supposedly helped in creation. According to Jewish myth.
The power of God is a noble star to be gazed upon.

None of the god story makes any real sense.
Why do they just accept it without question?
Is it ignorance?
Is it stupidity?
Is it profound childhood indoctrination?
Is it home-schooling?

Funny how god can't even get his more powerful beings to even do good. Man god must be the fucking uwe boll of making existence, he? lol
mykindom666 2 years ago
But at least we have real verifiable proof that Uwe Boll exists O.o

But if God was all powerful, then why did he need Satan's help with creation? Jewish myth fails too :)

Where in Genesis does it mention Satan helping God create the universe?
