I'm an atheist myself, but burning churches is wrong. The old stave churches are important historical sites, not to mention that everyone should be entitled to their own beliefs.

@AssMantis -- You're right, and extreme, forceful evangelism is wrong, but in the end, the Norse converted to Christianity voluntarily (for the most part). I agree that Old Norse culture has been scarred by Christianity, but the churches are also a part of the late Dark Age Norse culture, after many Scandinavians had converted to Christianity. Burning the churches really only shows that the neo-Paganists who did it have no other peaceful means of resistance to the Christian faith and culture.
@thychaos -- Yes, also a shame. Quite honestly, if they were to burn churches, I'd prefer it be newly built structures rather than ones with historical value. Keep in mind that the Scandinavian countries have been, by majority, Christian for centuries; the churches that they built long ago over destroyed and even older Pagan sites are STILL historical landmarks. Like the destruction of Sumerian ziggurats in Iraq during the Gulf War; it pains me to see any valuable history destroyed.

ok being 18 years old is it in many countries considered as a minor age? I think it is. And usually when a minor gets convicted in crime he/she doesn't get the full penalty as the adults. So Varg didn't deserve so much years in prison. But anyway 18 years isn't meant to be misleading or misunderstood for punishment, if ye know what I mean

@AssMantis -- You're right, and extreme, forceful evangelism is wrong, but in the end, the Norse converted to Christianity voluntarily (for the most part). I agree that Old Norse culture has been scarred by Christianity, but the churches are also a part of the late Dark Age Norse culture, after many Scandinavians had converted to Christianity. Burning the churches really only shows that the neo-Paganists who did it have no other peaceful means of resistance to the Christian faith and culture.

@thychaos -- Yes, also a shame. Quite honestly, if they were to burn churches, I'd prefer it be newly built structures rather than ones with historical value. Keep in mind that the Scandinavian countries have been, by majority, Christian for centuries; the churches that they built long ago over destroyed and even older Pagan sites are STILL historical landmarks. Like the destruction of Sumerian ziggurats in Iraq during the Gulf War; it pains me to see any valuable history destroyed.
