  • Burt Bacharach

  • this music was composed by But Bacharach or Sergio Mendes?

  • @weliberato2006 Was composed by genius Burt Bacharach

  • I can hardly wait to hold you feel my arms around yoooou...

  • I LOVE them--and this song is perfect for them--BIG HIT. Not feeling like Dusty S.--but that Brazilan rhythym thing. that cool elegant 60's chic then went down the toilet in the 70's!

  • cutest video description on youtube.

  • The most unique harmonies and sound of the 1960's. Adults loved this. We kids loved it. Our parents had good taste. Between this, Burt Bacharach/Hal David and the artists who recorded their music and Doris Day/James Gardner movies, we learned what real adult romance was and looked forward to growing up.

  • The drummer, Alan Diaz is my father. It's so amazing to see him in his prime! Thank you for posting this.

  • I was 12. :)

  • Hey, this version was not recorded in '67. Must have been in the mid '70s.

  • Thanks for this video of good music

  • same here i was 10 years old also, my first crush on the girl next door !

  • It's good for that seven-year-old boy back in Idaho too. Thanks for posting it. Such memories.

  • My Mom played this great band when I was 10.. I loved them! The blonde was my favorite! The girl @ 2:00 was so spunky...To me, way back Ii '66, they were so classy and "different."

    I still love them!

  • @angeloamericano No, she isn't.

  • Lt Dish...you are beautiful.

  • I've always loved this song from the time I was a little boy. Beautiful song!

  • Recording is a bit pushed but this is a great song ( esp. the original with Brazil

'66). These gals do a nice job!

    Makes ya wanna dance!

  • Hermoso!!!!!

  • awesome

  • This is one of the best songs ever.....And what my heart has heard, it just takes my breath away.......

  • Burt Bacharach wrote this and lot of other fantastic songs:) covered by many ppl ;)

  • i love sergio mendes!

  • The original recording of this song by Brazil 66 is the best ever. Dusty Springfield did a great job and so did Vicki Percussion but the Brazil 66 arrangement was just great

  • I love it!

  • Classic tune from the 60's.. The bass line's groove at around 2:47 was their 70's arrangment I suppose.. not to mention the disco garb of the musicians. So glad to be able to discover these vids of the good ol' days. Thanks for posting!

  • In fact all of this videos are highly rec

    ommended.

  • we got this vid back!! thank you so much!!

  • Beautiful version. I believe this is Brazil 77. The original artist was Dusty Springfield from the film Casino Royale. Sergio and Brasil 66 performed it on the 1968 Oscar show right after the assasination of Dr. King and made the song their own.

  • I think Sergio introduces the band as Brasil '88

  • Who is Brasil 66? 77? 88? Who among them r the original bandmates of Sergio? And y did it change from 66 to 77 etc......Can someone orient me please? Thanks!

  • lani hall janis hansen original singers ,,,they left band got new members as time passed it was just sergios thing to put a year on the end of his band ,,,lani hall is herb alberts wife still today

  • that's Alpert btw...

  • @mozdickson yea Alpert ,,,thanks GFYS

  • @mozdickson ok Alpert ,,,thanks gfys

  • as i listen through the whole song i do not think they are the original singers of this song could be dusty springfield

  • I hope and pray, luckysmusic, that that 10 year old girl from Ohio in 1967 learns of your dedication. Very romantic! If I knew her I'd tell her! God bless.

  • its a Bacharach song, often covered. check out Sergio' greatest hits for similar. awesome

  • do they originally sing this song? if not, who does?

  • Are these gals the original vocalists of Brasil '66?? Or is it that they are frozen in time and only Sergio gets older!?

  • The original lead singers in Sergio Mendes' Brasil '66 ensemble were Lani Hall & Janice Hansen, with the latter performing lead on "The Look of Love" (recorded in 1968). However, the first singer of "The Look of Love" was the great Dusty Springfield (1939-1999), and Messrs. Bacharach and David wrote the song for her, including it on the soundtrack of Casino Royale (1967). Bacharach's melody was inspired by Ursula Andress' acting in an early cut of that film. Mendes' version stood on its own.

  • Regarding Sergio's version standing on its own, absolutely. Nelson Riddle once wrote that when you arrange you're composing; and Bob Dylan said that whenever he played his All Along The Watchtower he felt as if he was covering Hendrix, Jimi having so much made the song his own.

This performance, given he's playing a Yamaha CP80 electric grand, must be from the late 70's or later.

I saw Sergio a few years ago - wonderful - his vocalist Dawn Bishop absolutely sublime - highly recommended.

  • Thanks so much, this is one of my favorite groups ever -

  • those singers are all so beautiful

  • @jahwell1 Well you got one for three anyway - Karen Philipp!

  • The third singer gives me goosebumps what a lovely tone.

  • I think that's Gracinha Leporace

  • Ah you win the door prize! that is indeed Gracinha. Met her back in the 70's after a Sergio M concert. Nice lady. I have pics taken with her. She is now Sergio's wife. Cheers.

  • She also gives me the goosebumps

  • The 10 yr old girl here in Ohio says thank you very much......

  • 11 year old girl here in Scotland says the same. My Mum put it on for me after it was played at Jazzercise and I love it and the other version:) Aria x
