Your shiba was clueless to the rain until water landed its ear. Mine is like that too. I have to call him in so he doesn't soak to much water.
Your thunder sound fierce as ours here in Orlando, Florida. But when it sounds like that its more darker and windier(it sounded like the main part was close, so i am just guessing by the roll of the thunder). I do the same thing you do. Just sit and watch it will eventually pass. And it also provides some nice cool breeze. :)
