@MrLightmonger She doesen't need to be toned down, The volume is forte during that part that she is "too loud", It's supposed to be loud, and there's actually supposed to be two people playing the bodhran part.
I came to this song because my band is playing it... then i saw valley christian and considered leaving.... then i listened and felt pretty good... our trischool symphonic band is still better!!!
We also this at our high school here at St.Augustine and I liked it also!

@orangeraider07 Not sure, I remember playing timpanis on this and I had like a dueling solo with the snare. Twas' dope.

an attempt to keep the percussion from mudding up the ensemble is a good guess. The snare part is much more involved in the original as well.
