  • i hope i never have my herat broken rapt0r150 lol

  • paparry nows your chance fella!

  • We will never mention girls aloud version.............

  • Ex Style Council - Paul Weller's ex wife ?

  • paul weller was the love of her life

  • i`d like to give her one.

  • Where did it all go so wrong?

  • Dee in her finest hour

  • she was also married to Paul Weller?

  • @lujas10 yep, and they had lil babies

  • I have been trying to find anything on Dee C. Lee. She actually sounds pretty good.

  • she was originally one of whams backing singers along with shirlie holliman who married martin kemp of spandau ballet/eastenders fame. she was replaced by pepsi who had a couple of records with shirlie holliman as pepsi and shirlie

  • Thats one of the Wham girls, actually the song is not that bad,she sounds a little bit like melanie fiona.

  • she's gorgeous

  • It's not good.

  • Looking at th eother songs like Yipee Yi Yay.. it's clear that weller wrote this tune to give her a shot at some sort of success becuase she obviously dewelled on being just a backing singer.

  • When i heard the song first time i knew it that it wasn't the original from Girls aloud, and thats how i found this video:D

The song was before its time that's why it wasn't a success.

  • Her teeth looks Gorgeous

  • weller wrote it for her after they got married

  • Should have sang more when she was in The Style Council.

  • I'm quite embarrassed at admitting to my naff tastes, but I'm fairly sure that Black Box stole/sampled/were inspired by parts of the melody - it just reminds me of sth they did. Anyone know???

  • D.C Lee much more than Paul Weller's ex wife. What a beautiful song. What a great voice.

  • I personally like the girls aloud version... this ones good to though

  • Black female singer (and the "pop" singers) after the late 80s/early 90s cannot just sing regularly and naturally anymore. They have to scream and yell and do too many voice curl today. Such rubbish! LESS IS MORE and NATURAL IS ALWAYS BEST

  • what a wonderful song! I think she has composed it..

  • Her album where this is taken from, is very good also, and contains several songs of the same qualit.y Check it if youy can.

  • I hadn't realised Girls Aloud had do9ne a version of this until I read some of the comments ....so I listened to it ...... and now Girls Aloud are big "stars" and Dee C Lee has disappeared from the airwaves ..... this is a very sad, mixed-up and wrong time to be in love with music!!!

  • Lucky my mum told me about the orginal...the Girls Aloud version is awful. This is sang with feeling.

  • I felt sick when I heard the horrendous version by 'Girls Aloud'..talk about slaughtering a tune. Shame

  • @bartlemy Dee C Lee is class, this is a wicked ballad

  • One of the best heratbreaking songs of the 80's. absolutely underrated

  • @rapt0r150

    ...i couldn't agree more....

  • The Girls Aloud one isn't too bad, but this is the original and best.......this lady has such a rich voice........what the hell has happened to her???

  • Don't quote me on this, but I do remember hearing she married Paul Weller

  • good memories

  • saw her in liverpool Albert dock Goood

  • pause at 1.05 to 1.06 and you will see Elvis Presley looking at you....

  • when you look at me tell me what you see??

    :(

  • this is such a lovely vid/song

.. i searched around utube and this is by far the best of this song

    thankYOU

  • love this song. heartbreaking again.

  • love this song. heartbreaking again.

  • mooooooooi...........

  • She IS very beautiful

  • Che sogno di donna! Che bellezza! She was very beautiful

  • Lovely song, grew up hearing this beautiful record. So underrated

  • ...her death!?!

Dee C Lee is alive and well thanks!

She has a new band THE DEEP MO...

  • But no! That's just a mistake: she wasn't die!

  • yes so great to see this again. This came out when I was around 12 and I even thought she was hot then. I was a little sad to hear of her death a few years back. But then they always say. Only the good die young.

  • She's not dead...

  • Her death? She's very much alive-alive-o.

  • shes not dead

  • She is not dead, she did a gig in May

  • She's not dead, you muppet! YTou must be thinking of someone else.

  • I suppose this should lift your spirits... "On May 31st, 2009, Lee joined ex-Level 42 musicians, Mike Lindup and Phil Gould, to play a comeback gig with a collective called 'Favoured Nations'. The gig took place at Ginglik, Shepherd's Bush, London." If that's the case, then the lovely Diane Sealy is still alive and well.

  • love the guy, hes my hero, but when it comes to women and relationships hes obviosly a complete dick

  • very prophetic lyrics, obviously mr weller did not take notice

  • very prophetic lyrics...lyrics that mr weller obviously ignored

  • history never did her justice :(

  • She is stunningly beautiful and so is her voice. How did Paul Weller let her get away? He should have kept his pants zipped when away from home.

  • I agree with you that she has an amazing voice and she is absolutely beautiful, natural full lips; I used to stay watching MTV until I saw the clip again.

This song belongs to my favourite top 10

  • Sums up how i feel about a certain lady.

  • for my special lady, the words say how i feelabout her.(ps love dee's cheeky smile at 2.01)

  • spent years looking for this song and still great till this day

  • my best song

  • Always loved this track...was really annoyed with Girls Aloud's rip off!

  • great - nice to hear from her after all this time... shoulda been no 1 this song!

  • Wow! This brings back memories. My best mate and I used to play this continually on a record player as we played snooker. Did she do anything else after this apart from marry Paul Weller? Great song though!

  • i recently saw DC LEE at shepherds bush ginglik 31/05/09,what a voice and a truely beautiful woman, fingers crossed i hope to hear more from her!!!!!!

  • I remember her from "Style Council" days - she got talent! - nice song.

  • I remember her from the 'Style Council' days - she got talent!

  • Great to see this again and re-live old times. Thanks

  • Love the song. Forgot about the bad teeth.

  • great song - great singer - and most of all good looker. love her always have

  • Hmmmmmmmmm...........

  • I have spent many years in Australia and am here at the moment. It is a fine continent however hardly any radio stations play the song more than once every six months or so (if that).

Like the rest of the commentators here, I love it. You can tell that both Paul Weller and Dee C. Lee are genuine artists. They let the music speak for itself. I do have a preference but I'll save that for another time.

Thanks for the upload. First time I've seen the clip. Misty and classical.

  • Beauty, elegance, and the voice of an angel!

  • Beauty, elegance and the voice of an angel!

  • Saw her recently in a weller documentary and she is oh so cute, sexy eyes.....and talented.

  • I love this song - I've been looking for it for years and years. Thank you for posting this.

  • She went on to Marry Paul Weller and had a little girl with him....

  • And a boy, Nat's about two years older than his little sister Leah. (And they both look exactly like Dee.)

  • Beautiful and talented. Lovely voice. She should have been a big star around the world.

  • This should have been number 1 all around the world. Unbelivable song.

  • I may have my dates wrong but I was under the impression that she and Paul were not an item at the time of this song and that this was written to woo him(no wonder it worked!)

I love Paul Weller and would have gladly changed places with her but I've met them both and she is a beautiful person inside and out

  • a beautiful song, and d c lee sings it with real feeling, you can believe in what she is singing

  • Love this song. Dee should have been a BIG star.

  • great! :D :D :D

  • WOW!!! This is a beautiful Song!

  • she has a perfect face

  • I remember the original. The Girls Aloud cover version just does not to it any service.

  • Yeah, I def think GA's version is better.

  • I love this song, my mum used to play it loads when i was a child and then she stopped, and ive been looking for it for a while.

    thanks for the upload ^_^

  • girls aloud's version is good aswell

  • Thanks for this.Ahh, Countdown!!I knew I recognised the voice at the start.Bikiniatoll, are you watching the Countdowns they play over the January holidays on Rage? What a feast. Does Dee still write and sing? She should!

  • Oh yeah! Thanks for the reminder, that January is Countdown (etc) re-run season on Rage!

  • very nice thanks

  • What a voice ! love this song!

  • bit of an alicia keys

    very good

  • I saw this on VH1 Classic for the first time in like 20 years this morning, and just had to get on here and check out if anyone had uploaded it.

Thanks so much, a classy tune from a classy lady, the sort of of writing that simply doesn't age.

  • Anyone know where i could download this song?

Dee C Lee is One Voice! Girls Aloud are a Voice of Five! AND YET DEE C LEE'S VOICE IS MORE POWERFUL AND PURE THAN ALL FIVE OF THEM PUT TOGETHER!!! THAT IS WANT YOU CALL WORLD CLASS...BEST OF THE BEST... PURE QUALITY OF THE HIGHEST STANDARD...BEST THAT MONEY CAN BUY!!!

  • 2 words that describe DEE C/this song

    ORIGINAL , BEST

  • Mariah - THIS is how you sing with feeling.

  • Great comment! Straight to the point!

  • Now that is a sexy song. With real yearning in her voice.

  • Love this song, really love it, over 20 years now, but not from Girl Aloud, only from Dee C. Lee. Great voice, great song.

  • she became a mother and she still has that voice

  • wtf?

  • What happened to this wonderful singer. What a voice!

  • Love it, one of my favourite songs, pity Girls Aloud ruined it. Her voice is amazing on Heavens Above by Style Council.

  • Love this song! The first time I heard it was in my prom night. Dee C Lee is really pretty.

  • believe she wrote it for Paul Weller

  • Wouldn't surprise me. I've had this suspicion myself, but haven't heard it confirmed with some proof.

  • A classic, haven't heard this so long. Strings, violin, melody. You just don't get pop songs like this reaching the top 5.

  • She was in Wham, before her solo material, wasn't she? Yeah - I just had a look at the Club Tropicana vid. Yummy.

  • nah mate! that was pepsi and shirley

  • To clarify:

Dee C. Lee was in Wham!, as a backing singer with "Shirley", until she left in 1983 to pursue her solo work and to join the Style Council with Paul Weller, whom she would later marry (then ultimately divorce).

    Pepsi was her replacement.

The song "Club Tropicana" was recorded during Dee C. Lee's residency, it is quite clear from the film clip that it is in fact her also.

Pepsi and Shirley of course went on to launch their own pop career in 1987.

  • Always loved this woman!!!

  • Wonderful & nostalgic, thanks ;)

  • I learnt slow walz in dancing school on this ... some century ago.

  • how old i am!!!!!

  • -love this song- remember it from childhood

  • man she is so beautiful ! i havent seen this since i was a teen but i always remembered her skating. great track

  • Sweet skating

  • Nice. Haven't heard this tune in ages. I'd love to hear "I Don't Mess" again as well. D.C Lee is helluva cool.

  • On the basis of this song, agreed. When this came on, I thought I recognised her and the name: sure enough, it was her, of Wham!, Style Council, and Paul Weller's ex. But yeah, not exactly a household name.

  • great upload

  • any idea where I can get this on MP3?

  • Sorry, no more than you might.

  • One of my absolute favourites:)

Want to go back and relive these years

  • I loved this chick. It would be so awesome to hear from her today. Music is in need of grown women. She was even grown back in the day. :)

  • Intriguing thought, especially after that cover recently.

  • I always thought Girls Aloud did this first

    Guess I was wrong

    This version is nice too

  • Yes. I vastly prefer this version.

  • Brilliant song. Always loved it. is she still in the music biz?

  • I don't think so.

  • This is a great song she is under rated Did you know she was married to Paul Weller of the Jam/Style Council? They are not together any more but they have 2 kids I am sure are beautiful and they are both brilliant. She also did back up for Wham(early stuff) Club Tropicanna, Wham Rap etc. Classy, Plain classy lady hope to hear here more

  • Yes, yes, and yes! And she penned this song herself. I'd say this is the height of her creative output.

  • Great video, used to be my favourite for a long period.

Long hours of watching MTV to see the clip again.

It's a pity that this was her only succesful song that made it up to the top 10.

  • Great to see this clip again. I was so fond of this number and the clip that I watched MTV for hours on a row.

    Thanks for posting it !

  • Great to see this clip again. I was so fond of this number and the clip that I watched MTV for hours on a row.

    Thanks for posting it !

  • Great to see this clip again, I used to watch MTV for hours to see this clip again.

  • Always loved that song, and what a voice she has!

  • i loved this when it was released after only buying it because of paul weller

  • quality!!!!!

  • class pure clas!

  • Dee C Lee is a real talent. And such a beauty.

I like her rolling. like some angel in the city ... And the way she's dressed. Simple and true.

Don't like the chair part in the cellar.

These years were so important to me.

  • She seems a real beacon in this clip, yes.

  • siamo forti nice beautifuuul girl

  • I love this song. Dee should have been a big star.

  • Thankyou for posting.

    My favourite slowy (;->)

  • My pleasure: glad you found it here.

  • Weller would give his best moccasins to write a tune as good as this. Better than Wild Wood. Dee rules.

  • Heh, moccasins.

    Better than Wild Wood! Controvertial!

  • wow a lot of talented people came from WHAM,i remember this song as a child and who knew she was a back singer from them and so talented as well,wow...thanks for posting this video:))....its a forgotten masterpiece

  • Agreed, on both accounts: a real master work of songwriting, very moving; and oddly, essentially forgotten, it seems.

  • loved this track and the council of course!

  • fantastic song from the 80's. they dont make them like they used to.....

  • you got too much time on your hands. but i can see that it is her.

  • It's important to be accurate, yes.
