Damn it Dimension Films! If money is all is all you understand, then how is it that you don't understand that you would get a hell of alot more money if you just let the people who can make a good film, make a good film!
Interesting how much he disliked Inferno, I found it a lot better than Deader, Bloodline and Hellworld. I don't think I could even sit through Deader again.
Doug Bradley IS the one and only Pinhead from Hellraiser. I've seen trailers for the new movie and I think it sucks. The new Pinhead looks like a wussy EMO version. Just like the new Freddie. It was all about the acting and especially the voice. Robert Englund has been and always will be the only Freddie Kreuger I'll ever like.
wtf i just watch the trailer to new Hellraiser: Revelations it looks so fucking stupid and plus doug bradley is not playing pinhead in this film so it going to be like the remake of nightmare on elm street how stupid is that.
these ppl should not Fucking make it.what a waste of time.
Wow why does everyone like Hellraiser 3 so much? It was one of the worst if not the worst. He acted more like Freddy Krueger in that one. 4 wasn't bad, he had good lines in that one and actually regained his composure. Even Doug likes 3...wtf?
@PalaceOfExile I think that was the point. His human soul was separated from the demon, causing Pinhead to act without rules and guidelines, making him more like Freddy and killing at random. He was merged back together at the end, but the effect probably didn't completely work until he got sent back to hell by Joey. It's part 4 that doesn't make sense, because he's back to killing innocent people at random. At least Hellraiser 5 takes Pinhead back to how he was in the first 2
what do you expect? Dimension is a subsidiary of Buena Vista Entertainment, which is Walt Disney. you don't let those fucks have control over something like Hellraiser!
He is so great. You could never have a "Hellraiser" without Doug Bradley. I don't think that 5-8 are bad. Another direction was taken, and it was an interesting one. If they had kept on going on the same premises as 1-4 then what would happen? Pinhead is evil, and Pinhead keeps losing....and I don't want him to lose - I want him to WIN. IMO 4 was the worst - bad plot, bad acting. But....Pinhead, the Creeper & Pumpkinhead are the 3 sexiest monsters ever!!!!!
This is the same thing that happened with Nightmare on Elm St. 'he's too old.' What does his age matter? They're in prosthetic makeup anyway. Get a stunt double for things they can't do. I didn't think remakes would be so bad with new technology and effects, but by replacing people like Doug Bradley and Robert Englund who put their whole personality into their performance, you may as well just create a new character w a different identity bc they're not the same anymore.
to meet doug bradley would be...to me,my childhood was the 3 first hellraisers(the real ones),6yo i went to the cinema(my mom with me,great mother)and i saw the third, then the other 2 in video
Dudes, if they're gonna remake another Classic, don't butcher it. Doug Bradley stills looks like he can pull off the role of Pinhead. If it's gonna be remade, he should be Pinhead! I hope Platnium Dunes doesn't do it. They've had their fair share. They've done enough. Who's with me, anybody???
I like Doug Bradley, but the guy is a serious hypocrite because in earlier interviews he says that he would do a remake if asked then he keeps on talking about how shit they are. He is right of course, but why does he keep harping on about them and then wanting to star in The Hellraiser remake. Most of his Hellraiser sequels are shit too and he knows it.
Why can't they come up with something more original? Like a hellraiser movie that entails of each cenobites creation, besides the ones we've already seen showing how stitch, bound1&2 ect became cenobites. Even throw some of the cenobites from the book into the movie. Give us some kind of FRESH ideas PLEASE! No Doug= No Pinhead, it will be complete shit w/o.
Doug is spot on. These corporate cocksuckers clearly don't give a shit about the fans, the franchise history whether it's coherent or not - and if it is be sure they'll fuck that up, and the people like Doug who MAKE the characters who/what they are, and who/what we as fans have come to love. Dimension, like other studios, just want to continue with redundant remakes and reboots of classics, even if they don't make a ton of box office income. It's all a bunch of worthless bullshit. Period.
@reboothater Well not never wanna see it again. Just scary enough to leave an impact on people. If it was scary enough to make you not watch it ever again it wouldn't make much money then would it and we all know how movie makers at least most are all about the cha ching.
I really don't get why he dislikes the fifth movie so much, I think it's arguably the best in the series. Granted, it's not so much a Hellraiser movie as a standalone psychological thriller with a few Hellraiser-references in it, but it's still really really good.
I'd like to see a remake that is full of sadomasochism, where the cenobites are mysterious, and the only purpose of a "pinhead" character is to be a voice for them, hopefully as little as necessary. I think Frank Cotton was a good minor villain too, and the overall villain should be the power of the box (Leviathan) which is like a mysterious hand of god, like fate or karma.
I hope they remake it as a tv series. Not that old was poor, but there is much to explore in this Barker's world. My only hope is that, it's short and sweet, not like Lost, Heroes and Flash Forward which goes on and on and on. And on and on... and on and on...
It's obvious Doug has a great love for the character and for his work in Hellraiser-which is why it pisses me off so much to imagine Hellraiser being remade without him.
@sharona1981 I honestly believe that to make a horror movie you have to make it so that when people watch it they get so scared they cry or get sick to their stomachs.
I hate how everyone bitches about remakes. "OH NO THE ORIGINALS ARE WAY BETTER THEY DONT HAVE TO REMAKE ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!", I don't get it. If you're a fan of the series wouldn't you be happy to see a remake? I mean c'mon, this stuff is like 30-20 years old now, it's nice that they freshen up stuff. And for those saying "HOLLYWOOD RAN OUT OF IDEAS", bullshit. Go watch District 9, Avatar, Zombieland, and tell me they ran out.
I think the feeling behind those thoughts on remakes is that the passion for the characters and story is lost. Most of these original horror films were made by people who love the genre, who endured hardships to get it made, not a studio/corporation looking to cash in on the name. They may have "fresh" ideas and better tech but they have no heart. I completely agree that a film like District 9 was fresh and new, but that wasn't from Hollywood at all!!
Well it's not like they CAN put heart into the films, I mean, c'mon it's you're copying and pasting the shit but just adding more to it. Would you put a lot of passion into rewriting Romeo and Juliet to make it better? No, but you wanna try to. That's what they try doing, even if most of the times they fail.
@rushaholic You hit the nail right on the head or should I say the pin right on the head? Film makers nowadays only care about money not about making their film a true work of art. When you make a movie instead of getting out quickly take the time to make it as perfect as you can.
District 9 is nothing more then a retelling of apartheid in South Africa, save with aliens...
Avatar is Pocahantas and Dances with Wolves, retold with 10ft tall blue aliens taking the pace of Native Americans...
Zombieland is no more "original" then any other Romero-inspired zombie flick (and that number grows like mold in an old bathtub with every passing year)...
So yeah, if You honestly believe that those three examples are signs of Hollywood's "originality", You're a fucking idiot...
On the other side, it´s kind of exciting to see some of those 80s horror idols in a new look. As much as I like old Pinhead, I´ll definetly go watch the remake.
Hollywood is greedy and they want to recycle franchises and bank on those that will come to see the horrorshow versus invest more in new material. There are so many novels and other art forms that could inspire movies. Hell, they could go to the fanfiction website and grab inspiration from them. Hellraiser would be even better if you took it and told it from Pinhead's perspective. No, they don't think of doing this like this often.
no they're not running out. Its just that some ideas were born waaay before they're time... Just like Nightmare on elm street, and Hellraiser. These movies deserve MUCH BETTER PRESENTATION. Hence the remakes..
@fuhnnypaul016 YES MORE REMAKES.Dont watch the remake then let other people enjoy the remake. I cant wait for the the remake to bad it comes out in 2012.In the horror wiki it said its coming out in febuary 2011.I hope it comes out in febuary 2011.
@THEFRESHISHERE oh im not telling people not to watch it i just personally only like the first two hellraiser movies.... i will of course be watching the 2011 or 2012 remake to see what they come up with, although the first two will be the only ones worth watching in my eyes i will keep an open mind while watching the next one! :)
Hellraiser 5 was more of a psychological horror film, most people just want blood and guts. Blood and guts doesn't make a movie scary though, i mean look at the Saw bore-a-thon that most horror fans worship...
5 is my favorite. So it doesn't focus on Pinhead, big deal. The more you show whatever it is that's supposed to be scary, the more you get used to it. That's why none of this jason vs freddy vs godzilla bullshit is scary at all.
Just finished watching Deader and Hellworld.... They make Hell on Earth look like The Godfather. I just can't believe Bradley gave Inferno a lower rating than them.
