  • This is better drama than anything on daytime today!

  • Nancy....when in doubt, make coffee!

  • Wow. Wish there were more of these eps out there. Thanks for sharing these. My mother was such a huge fan of this show throughout the 1960s. She was pregnant with me at time Lisa was pregnant with Tom, although Tom was a full grown adult by the time I was 8 or 9. Can't wait to see more.

  • This shows just how old the show was! Lisa was pregnant with Tom here and he was middle-aged when the show ended!

  • I recall this storyline between penny and lisa very well. lisa was a brat back then. she would play miss innocent to chris and nancy and be mean as a snake out of their sight. penny had her number.

  • The show went for soap opera to cunt opera. Thats why all the shows are being cancelled.

  • So this was between 9/60 and 6/61...

Now I can see why Ellen always hated Lisa! And Lisa is so sickly sweet with "Mother" and "Father." Lots of fun. ATWT had such strong female characters even early on.

  • wow..did that bring back memories.....I loved dPenny and Jeff..and Lisa and Bob....and always love Nancy and Chris...Please send me any thing with Penny and the others.....cblake1023 to aol

  • I love to watch the old soap episodes would love to see Judge Lowell Episodes, Pa Hughes, Claire Lowell, and Henry & Alma Miller!!

  • Interesting that Lisa's father is named Henry Miller.

  • The young Eileen Fulton reminds me of Chloe Abbott on Y&R

  • Hmmmm...seems to me that with all the shouting between the two women, they would have *had* to have heard by the others in the house!

  • Lisa - What a b..tch! Now she's the sage on ATWT. Helen Wagner is 90, God bless her for at least doing a few scenes every few months. Give Lisa a story. She's older, yes, but not dead.

  • WOW i thought that was pretty sick! its really family dynamic

  • Wow! I've only been watching As The World Turns since the year 2000. It's great to see some of these really old clips with Nancy, Lisa, Bob and characters I've never seen such as Penny and Chris Hughes. ATWT is truly one of the best soap operas on TV (even though it has been bad for a few years - I think it's really picked up over the last month though! I have high hopes for the future!!)

  • This is from 1960-"The Tom Ewell Show" premired on the 1960-1961 season!

  • No, Lisa didn't like Pa. Pa was all too quick to tell Lisa what she was about and how she behaved, and she resented Pa because she had such high ambitions and he reminded her of her own family.

  • what's with the organ in the background??

  • That's how they did soap opera music in the olden days. It was a holdover from radio. It continued until the early 1970s.

  • Lisa paved the way for the great vixens of later years---ANOTHER WORLD's Rachel, ALL MY CHILDREN's Erica, EDGE OF NIGHT's Raven, YOUNG AND RESTLESS' Phyllis and BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL's Brooke.

  • @Soapking1965 Yes, very true.

  • Daniel is Tom Hughes' son via Emily. Susan is Em's mother/Daniel's maternal grandmother. Bob and Lisa are his paternal grandparents. Daniel is named after his maternal grandfather, Dan Stewart. Dan and Susan divorced in the early 1970s.

  • Isn't Emily & Betsy sisters?

  • Half-sisters. Dan Stewart was their father.

  • I have been watching ATWT since these days. Without a doubt the greatest soap of them all. The Hughes family and the Stewarts, wow such great memories.

  • January 1966 for Susan

  • Patc2000: please post any episodes you have from the 70's and thanks for the memories of when the world really turned. Shame on Chris Goutman and Jean Passanante for the awful mess they're putting out now!

  • OK Give me a couple of days

  • I think Oakdalian posted a 1978 episode--

I have the wedding of Ellen and David--

I guess it would be their second wedding after

    David got his memory back-

The video is not that great but I will post-- if you want

  • This is a Wednesday episode, as Quaker Oats did indeed sponsor "THE TOM EWELL SHOW" on CBS during its sole season on Wednesday nights (1960-'61)...

  • What year in the 1960s did this ATWT episode come out?

  • It was March 1961.

  • Thanks SoapCritic-- have uploaded more clips

Check out the new video responces(not the best

    video though)

I do have some of Radio episodes from GL too

    I'll keep on posting

  • I got more of this and much more of the 80's

    If you want it

    let me know

And let me know where I can find other

    Penny and Jeff stuff

    Pat

  • I was told that soaps back then aired 15, 30 minutes before the 1970s. Is this true? Lisa was so cute.

  • I think this was the first soap to air for

30 minutes --and started out that way--

Please correct me if I'm wrong

  • This was the first soap to air that didn't focus on just (1) person or (1) family, also they used multiple cameras (a first for that time)

  • I am new to soaps and have been watching ATWT since January 2007... These episodes are so amazing... P&G SHOULD RELEASE THEM ON DVD its not hard, they where only 20 minutes a piece, you can fit 8 or so on a disc! We need releases on Soaps, they are What Televsion was all about!

  • Sadly, that would be difficult because there are very few of these early episodes that are available. They were broadcast live in those days, and so other than a few that were copied on kiniscope as they were broadcast, like this one, not many episodes exist. ATWT and fellow P&G show "Edge of Night" were the last soaps to switch to tape, which they did in 1975. However, even then not many tapes were saved, and they oftentimes simply recorded new episodes over the tape, to save a bit of money.

  • clips like this one are great-this is what the soap operas are all about-the organ music background-this is what i remember-my grandmother watched these every day-she just passed away in august-a tribute to her.

  • I'll be posting some more --today--Lisa Nancy Chris and Grandpa Hughes

  • They would if they were smart lol

  • I have posted some 1966 GL's it may be the same clips---I do have more but haven't had time to post

    Pat

  • Would love to see --do you have the link

    Patc

  • Lisa Miller Hughes of the 1960's is very much like Carly Snyder is today. There is even a resemblance. Funny thing is they are not friends because they are just alike.

  • You are so right--

Remember when Lisa used to say that to Carly and to Julie--she used to love the bad girls because she was one lol

And the next clips I post from this time period

You will see even more of a Physical resemblance --Coming soon

  • I do--Just haven't uploaded yet--

You have the seen the video reponse above--

    Danny Is Mine?

I will try to post more soon

Grand kids are coming to stay this week lol

So don't look for it for about a week or two

    Pat

  • I would spend big bucks for anything with Penny and Jeff in it--

    Pat

  • The original house hasn't been seen since

and before Nancy and Chris left for Arizona(?)

I think in the early 80's--when they came back home in '85 they live in Bob and Kim's

garage---That's when Bob and Kim's house be came the always seen home for ATWT

    Patc

  • This episode is from 1961.

  • Nancy and Lisa did not always see eye to eye, but they truly loved each other and were always there for each other.

  • I would prefer to see more Nancy, Lisa, Kim, Susan, Dr. Bob, and Emma---although I do adore Will, Luke and Noah.

  • Now this is a vintage gem! Many thanks. I wonder why there's an image reading "this program was pre-recorded. Wasn't everything live then?

  • Yes, I wondered that myself; you probably know that ATWT was done live until 1975 when it expanded to an hour which is when they switched the tape. Perhaps this was done from a kinescope that could have been shown later in the day on the West Coast?

  • That's probably it!

  • You can see that Lisa was a bit of a schemer as well as a tad bit flaky as well. Penny and Lisa didn't really see eye to eye back then.

  • Lisa was rather insensitive, going on and on about her baby in front of Penny, but boy, Penny sure was a b*tch back then.

"Lisa, the trouble with you is that you just get into everyone else's affairs". As true now as it was back then, LOL

  • this was the best ive seen i was only 10 yrs old when this aired THANK YOU

  • Once on the Carol Burnett Show, it was Parodied as "As The Stomach Turns" and on the 70's Kids Show ZOOM, it was known as "As The World Zooms". with the "Organ Music".

  • Wow, thanks for putting this up. There's no way I would recognize Helen Wagner as Nancy or Eileen Fulton as Lisa, were it not for their character names being used and their voices still sounding much the same as they do today! To michaeledwardnorris, no, Rosemary Prinz and the character of Penny are not on ATWT anymore, except for guest appearances every few years.

  • This clip picks up right after the quarter-hour station break (here in LA, "ATWT" aired at 12:30 PM and took a station ID break just before 12:45 PM -- something unheard of today!). Great to hear that ethereal celesta music at the start, the classic original theme at the nd and the voice of longtime "ATWT" announcer Dan McCollough. It's even better to see a young Rosemary Prinz as Penny (she's still on the show, I believe) as well as the original "ATWT" logo that's still spoofed to this day.

  • Wow, this is such a trip to watch...Too bad we didn't get to see "Dr. Bob" in these clips, but it was good to hear his voice :-) Thanks for sharing this!

  • Boy, did this bring back memories!

  • lisa is so young! she's been on this show forever.

man, she was sure a flake back then.
