WOW great special effects! I can't believe what video game makers can do these days or special effects studios whichever mastermind thought up this great shot of video! As I'm typing I'm noticing that there is actually a debate if it is real or not!?! it's an obvious wonder to the eyes at how fake and yet real looking this clip is! 5 stars!!
That is totally real. Notice the whine of the engines as the pilot pushes to full throttle just before touching down. That is done in case the cable doesn't catch and he has to abort and get back in the air. As a student pilot with over 1 hour of training in a Cessna 172, I can tell you that this is not fake at all.
Why would you call it a fake? That is exactly how a landing plane on a carrier would look. You touchdown on deck, and the hook catches the cable and you stop.
Its a s-3 Viking. Those are ge turbofans same as a a10 warthog. It was nick-named the Hoover since the pitch of the engines sounded like a vacuum.
