Using your surroundings, like walls, table corners, chairs. Or other means of ending the process faster, and to your favor. Is always smart... Hand to hand training is important, but so are combat tactics, to include weapons. I'm a Soldier, and I also train.

Competition is only one very small part of martial arts, fact of the matter is most of these fighters are trained to be able to defend themselves no matter the case, them competiting out of sport is the fighters decision.

Things like Krav Maga, or other self defense and tactical combat training are not the same As Kickboxing and BJJ...please try not to sound like a moron. While some schools offer both kinds of training, a person trained in full contact MMA style fighting, or Kyokushin Karate, or Judo... may not be as inclined to utilize such tactics as somebody with more training or just the experience in doing so. You fight how you train, have you ever heard that before? You would have if you've ever trained.

The street is different to a cage! Take fingers in areshole of opponent / fish hooking / advanced scrotum twisting techniques / eye gouging / punches to throat / fingers up nose / biting / spitting, etc - all 'legal' in a street fight but all illegal in a MMA fight. Say technique against grappler - ram your thumb up there arsehole then with fingers of same hand use Dragons Claw to buttock cheek so they cannot pull away from you, nobody can take that & keep fighting!
