Rubber Shirt: vinyl cover comment indicates that the bass lines were recorded while listening to some earlier recorded drums track(s) playing at much slower speed. Listen again and you will take notice. Buyed that album with 16 and played it for years (!). All thumbs up.
Just in case anybody doesn't know, the bass and drums in Rubber Shirt were from performances recorded separately and synchronized later, which is amazing because of all the cool moments that happen with the bass and drums. From the album liner notes.
This is really an ingenious instrumental tune he made.
That's how it was done in the old days, playing with and cutting magnetic tape, now there's too much crap being made with just a mouse and an index finger.
Wasn't that mentioned on the vinyl album's cover or sleeve?
I bought this album when I was 16 and looooved it instantly and will always remain my all time favorite ZAppa album.
The master at his best. Rip frank. We love you.
