There are recordings out there! Oleg Malov has recorded every work with piano and there are recordings on megadisc and melodiya (try amazon). There is a concert in Zurich on 9/12. Some works she left out of her catalogue in 1998, but its still about. I saw her CDs in shops in london. Her work was played at Royal festival hall in london last year as part of shostakovich centenary. I think interest in her is hotting up after her death. Can you tell i am fan?!
It's Galina Ustvolskaya's '2nd Composition (Dies Irae) for piano, wooden box and eight double basses. It is the middle of three ambiguously titled 'Compositions' which were written between 1971-75.
Shostakovich was never this explicit. U can see her music!!!

I suppose this piece conveys the terrors of Stalin's regime....and her strange romance with Shostakovich...

I watched this as I've never heard Ustvolskaya's music before. I got more than I bargained for; very provicative.
