It doesn't surprise me that it makes that much noise. My grandparents had one of those big old Fasco all metal fans made in the late '40s or early '50s and it really moved air like crazy.
I have an arctic aire model 200, but mine has a all metal cage and 3 metal blades with the same motor and frame as yours, except mine is light blue with(can't spell I know) "white" grills and blades. It was thrown out a window and spent a few months in a junk pile until I found it. It is very quiet and runs like new despite what it has been through. It just needs the frame straightened and a new coat of paint but I love it. It is great.

dayton i have an older dayton box fan it is really just a relabled P-23 lakewood it is virtually identical to a P-23 motor and all. motor is badged lakewood. it is a tan color and works well
WOW dude, THAT IS THE MOST RAREST AND VERY ORIGINAL BOX FAN EVER!!, and with 4 blades, never seen one of those. i have an old and running EAGLE AIRE box fan with transparent blades, which is available until i make a new vid of the fan
I remember seeing a couple of these fans in an old school I started kindergarten at back in the 70s.

Put that Dayton Industrial fan on the tube when you get around to it. :) Would love to see that.
I just rebuilt a 20" Patton fan with Dayton parts not long ago.
