Perhaps experiment in using electrical tape. It is a little more expensive than than masking tape, but it works better at sustaining strength and containing the expanding gases.

I made one with 19 normal, uncoloured sparklers. It works really well, you just have to put a few more layers of masking tape around it and make sure you stand well away from it when it launches because it goes in all directions XD. =]

Suggestions...use two packs sometimes it works better, at least there is more fire! Try taping a a firecracker on the top with the fuse pushed down into the top...sometime is works with a bang at the end. Be ready to move and run when the rocket starts its lift off, it could fly right at you! Hey by the way, yes I am friends with my Dad, he is super cool and does all kinds of stuff with me. Watch for my video on making stink bombs! Very cool

Suggestions...Make sure the tape is tight top to bottom and you rap it tight at least with 3 times (top to bottom) Make sure you put at least 3 or 4 pieces over the top and then tape it round the top to hold them on. The rockets are unpredictable they can fly in any direction, blow up, etc. "Be Careful" Try cutting off the legs and taping or glue on fins made out of poster board. Also we have found that if the rockets are put into a tube (the smallest possible size) it works best

yea i just made three then and only one worked, i guess its trial and error, i use gold ones aswell but they go fairly good and i only use 11 with electrical tape. good luck everyone

i used gold ones to make a sparkler rocket coz i culdn't get coloured ones and it worked but i used in bigger ammount about 50 sparklers so 1 normal pack

i wouldnt use a paper based masking tape because it catches fire easily, i would use plastic based or electrical tape.
