chords are nothing but a group of notes put together and a scale is just the correct order of notes to correlate with the starting note and the scale type. you dont need to know your basic chords and scales to play. chords and scales existed before the guitar. people didnt figure them out, they just played it on the guitar once the guitar was designed the right way. but knowing your basic chords and scales doesnt mean shit. play and be creative. and learning music lets you figure out patterns

I'm not a massive Slash fan, so I don't know much about him. But Syn knows quite a bit of theory, there are a lot of interesting things goin on in A7X songs theory wise, as the only kinda interesting thing i've heard from Slash is the occasional use of the Harmonic minor scale. And technique wise, they are both different kinds of players.

@Wrinkely233 Actually Zacky and Syn are pretty equal at guitar skill. Soloing and writing awesome solos doesn't mean you have more skill than somebody who plays back up. Syn is good at soloing, Zacky is good at laying down some fucking awesome fills, licks, and back ups. Zacky said it himself that he is proud to be the backup for Syn, so there shouldn't even be a problem. I bet you don't play guitar either, I've been playing for 7 years so I know what the fuck I'm talking about. Shut the fuck up

kthx? the last person I saw do that was a total and complete faggot. Zacky is the rythm guitarist. He writes the harmonies,ect. The Rev And Syn, write most of the guitar parts. And if knew this, they are all really good friends, and if youhave listened to side winder or M.I.A, the solos are by Syn's father, Brian Haner Senior.

I'm not a massive Slash fan, so I don't know much about him. But Syn knows quite a bit of theory, there are a lot of interesting things goin on in A7X songs theory wise, as the only kinda interesting thing i've heard from Slash is the occasional use of the Harmonic minor scale. And technique wise, they are both different kinds of players.
It's all preference anyways! :)

@takumanishiya23 u think that only because a lot of slashes playing is down to basics of the blues and syns is more exstensive u dont hear it only because not a lot of players do that a lot just stick with basic blues techniqes cause its easeir u can just stick with basic 5 note penetonic scales

@a7xbfmv23 slash does a lot more than pentatonic. and blues scales are not a part of pentatonic. hes uses phrygian, the more flamenco or spanish style if you will. Dorian and harminic minor are apart of his playing too

I really like this solo because its a break from all that fast fast and faster crap and goes into a more melodic side of the metal realm, which it seems like less and less people are taking the time to do anymore. Its just got feeling behind all of the notes. Pretty talented guitarist!
