I have to say that having bought 2 MTH locomotives myself, I am not fond of them: the "toy train" aspects of cab chatter and smoke -as well as an inability to program for DCC like other manufacturers- has made me vow to never purchase another one.

Having said that, I think they hit the ball out of the park with these passenger cars. The lighting is hands down the best I have seen, and the cars are finely detailed. I have the 5 car Pennsy set and I love it..

@BenAliGtor I'm more fond of the Broadway Limited Locomotives myself, But I'm a die hard N&W fan so I had to get a MTH J and I agree MTH hit it out of the park on the passenger cars. I just wish they had added people inside.

@LionelKid18 Being a N&W fan, can you tell me this: are these cars true to prototype? The Pennsy set is NOT- but I think it's "close enough" for trains other than the Broadway Limited and such.

@BenAliGtor Yes I've looked at my N&W passenger car books and they are very close to the prototype of the Powhatan Arrow...The only flaw I've found is the steam pipes and the marker lights on the obs car....the tail obs car has silver markers and the N&W used yellow markers, and the steam pipes are also silver, the N&W were black

@PereMarquette1223 Yes I just ordered the 3 car add on, which will bring the train up to 8 cars. and I'm in the process now of adding people inside to make it a more realistic passenger train.

I didn't realize that a HO scale product had such a good sound. Both the 611 and the 4501 you posted earlier sound great and seem to run smoothly. Even at slow speed. This is encouraging me to go back into HO scale.
