@looneytunes47 Hi there, actually the only notes I have the capo set on are the 7th fret - both the 1st and 3rd string. The other notes can ring open, therefore it creates opportunity for me to also play behind it. That is the beauty of the spider capo, it allows you to capo individual strings, rather than all six at once. It's great for creating cool sounding chords and unique harmonic textures.
@Coecytus Same reason alot of people aren't, there are way too many great players and only a few can be at the top. But I'm making a new album in a couple of months - keep your fingers crossed!
Holy Moley!!!!! Brilliant..composition AND technique! Usually, you get one or the other. I've been playing for 30 years or more..and my ears are newly opened. THANKS!
WOW!! I have been seeking and watching so many finger pickers on YouTube since I knew Andy Mckee and Justin King, but this piece blew me out the most significantly ever!!! I love this song, especially his play style and how the song goes!!! Patrick, you've beaten those two guys I just mentioned; I'm not kidding XD I want to know the tuning and capo setting so bad :) What are they!? Does anybody know???
@gotodsk Thank you! So nice of you to comment. first of all, I'm in DADGAD tuning to begin with. but when you put the capo on the 7th fret, you simply capo the first and third string so it changes the tuning to DADDAA. It gives the guitar more of a bright, sparkle sound - I guess you could say.
@gotodsk No tab as of yet, but that is something that I definitely want to do in the future. It's very time consuming, but my goal is to get at least a couple transcriptions done by the end of this year.
@pwoods100 That's awesome!! I can't wait to see the tab :) Keep on going!! Do you have any official webstie of yours, in which you accounce new stuff? I will check it frequently!!
I just looked at it. It says the number is actually 1037. I got mine in 2000, so I've had it for about ten years now. But I won't be using the Wechter too much anymore, because I just got a new custom guitar built by another luthier. I contacted Abe several months ago about doing a custom job, but he's strictly a factory builder now, so I had to go to someone else. But it's still a great instrument, and it's held up beautifully the last decade.
I think I may have helped build that guitar. I was working for Wechter back in 1999. Mine is #838, so I was around for the construction of that run of #'s. Since many of his guitars are now built in China (last I knew) he may be using a different numbering system, though. what is the # on yours and when did you acquire the instrument?
AWESOME MAN!!!!
