  • There's one of these 60 ft. in back of a house in my neighborhood

  • this sounds beautiful :3

  • I would want it near me.All it would take is for you to experience a tornado first hand and you would welcome being able to hear a warning loud and clear and MAYBE saving your life. Its worth a few seconds of testing Weekly. And Thank God they do test them. Some states do not bother to test.

  • @LibbyD1958 Some states won't even bother installing these damn things. I live in south-east Louisiana, and the closest siren to me is outside of New Orleans, a good hour away. I'd love to have some where i live.

  • WHERE'S MY LEAF BLOWER!??

  • looks like a side ways toilet =3-

  • its a combination between a mailbox, a turbo and a funnel

  • still didn't wake my grandpa up

  • alright who stole my supercharger??

  • @AstonMartin427 oops that was me. I wanted it for my extremely loud leaf/snow blower. :3

  • If the siren goes missing off the stand its not because I wanted to give the residents their hearing back I just want it for my very underpowered Jetta TDI.

  • How do allertors work?

  • @doverpoint1 This is an neat siren because the intake is the on on the bottom and sound output is top (watch Allertor 125 ... Bloomington

  • @doverpoint1 The bottom circle is the intake opening. The choppers are inside there spinning, drawing in air through the intake. the sound from the choppers comes out the top opening. There are 2 choppers, each producing a part of the tone, so it is a dual-toned siren. Each chopper has a certain amount of ports, or openings. The more ports, the higher the pitch. Allertors usually are 8 and 12 port choppers i believe.

  • @Stretch54449 8/12 Allertors are rare, the more common ones are 9/12 and 10/12. I believe that this one is 9/12.

  • Jailbreak! Lol.

  • If you say this is close to some house, in Shakoppe, they have Whelen's in peoples front yard!

  • @CrazyLilBiscwit it's the one on the bottom, the one on top is where the sound comes from

  • RamFett block me for NO REASON! tell him this: RAM FETT U NOOB! YOU BLOCKED sirenlover100 FOR NO REASON

  • It would scare coyotes off your propertry as well.

  • I would be like oh shut up siren it's 3 am I'm not stupid I could hear the tornado if ud shut up get the shotgun shoot it of the post

  • why does it make that sound when it starts

  • @sunshine19967 what sound?

  • @form109 that tornado siren, why does it do that when it starts

  • @sunshine19967 im not sure what you mean....some electromechanical sirens make a small AC noise when they start up,more than likely caused by the motor's start up current.

  • @form109 thank you

  • @CrazyLilBiscwit the bottom :)

  • Here in the NW burbs of Chicago, there is one here in Cary and another in Hoffman Estates. I can not hear well as it is but these, I always can hear. It would be shame that these get replaced with something that isn't as "punchy" and to the point. That sound is scary alone but for sure gets your attention.

  • @fordwagonnut There are at least three that I know of in Hoffman Estates.

  • they should run the siren for only 15 sec during siren test bc ppl get annoyed by that siren living next to it

  • that was epic :D

  • westy.... you're an imbecile, allertors and thunderbolt 1000's and thunderbeams penetrate far better, so they are more audible.... which is the whole point

  • is this by a dog park ?

  • Live in Becker

  • There was one of these over by Round Lake Park (not far from the fire station and a little convenient store once called Lil Red). That one I think was replaced with the new version FS Thunderbolt 2001. These ACA's are pretty neat because you get two tone pitches.

  • @dritb4 Ah, thank you for clarifying for me.

  • The brittish are comming the brittish are comming!

  • @BRAVOADD *British.

  • @04smallmj no the nukes are falling

  • which one is the intake and the outtake? lol

  • @jarhead565 i think top is out and bottom is in

  • @WindowsFan1 Correct.

  • Question about how it works...Is one of the horn parts for air intake and the other for the siren, or are they both for the siren? Very cool.

  • How many decibles?

  • @ThatHoodieGuy 125 Decibels @ 100 Feet

  • Just the name Allertor sounds scary but the sound is awsome . I would love to have one here and scare the fuk out of the whole neighbor hood.

  • What is the point of that???

  • I live in Savage MN and I might have heard this.

  • leaf blower know wunder my nabors is pisst

  • alarm clock

  • hey, this is my siren. :) except i hate this noise. scares the shit out of me.

  • FUCK YEAH IT SCARES ME

  • red allert.... red allert

  • @sxdutt lol

  • They use to have one up the strreet like this in Sudbury Ontario Canada, painted green. No idea why. As far as i know all the rest in town were gray. Then the goverment decided to take em all doew in the 90's..( FOOLS!)

  • Wouldn't people mistake this for power tools during the day?

  • why would they record this??????????

  • hey i have one of those in my garage...

  • @MusicGaming1 HEY, me too! difference is, mine is yellow instead of red AND I have videos of mine on my youtube channel!! LOL

  • I understand that one of the main reasons the 125 was discontinued was because of the high cost of fabricating the cones from fiberglass. Earliest ones were metal, I believe.

  • This & the T-bolt 1000 are probably the best sound around.

  • that siren still scares me today.

  • WARNING justin bieber is gonna sing on a festival just celebrate our lives

  • Translation of the siren: Justin Beiber just died!!! Its time to celebrate!

  • @ScremoSkullz hahahahaha

  • that is the sound i make when Burger king is closed

  • Comment removed

  • the other big red siren lmao

  • Why are ACA sirens painted red or blue or brown?

  • @dockwellian45 actually ive only seen them in CD yellow? this is the first time ive seen red or any other color for that matter

  • ACA sucks

  • Good to see that some municipalities take good care of their old sirens. Sounds amazing!

  • Pretty red paint & sounds nice!

  • OH FUCK THE PSYCHO VACCUM CLEANER IS LOOSE AGAIN HIDE!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Good God that Thing Is Hugely Loud Great Video

  • omg i didnt no allerrtors spun that dfast 0_o!!!!

  • I'd rather be swept up in a tornado than listen to this fucking thing every wednesday.

  • COOL RED!

  • Why are all the sirens red in this city?

  • Comment removed

  • Its a leaf blower that works great and makes you look cool.

  • Where I live (In St. Cloud MN) they mostly have FS2001s, but I have seen two Thunderbolts. I don't know if they are functional, though)

  • sit ontop go for a tour?

  • I like the attack mode better than the alert.

  • what does this siren warn?

  • @Pandal0ver11 Tornadoes

  • Hell of a siren. We have them here in case of an accident at the Beaver Valley nuclear power plant. These actually have three signals; three-minute steady alert, the fast warbling attack, and a fire signal on for 16 seconds, off for 8 seconds, repeating for 1.5 minutes. A few departments around here use these, but we couldn't afford the electric bill!

  • @Lvfd416 Well how would the new 2001's consume any less electrical power than these?

  • ACA Allertors look stupid, good thing in 1980 they finally got axed from the choices.

  • Looks alone do not a good siren make. I'd take this thing (refurbed of course) any day over an ATI. :P

  • That could be a turbocharger. =)

  • Looks very, very well-maintained. Not a blemish on it, and sounds quite healthy.

  • it would be Nice to see one of these being made at an ACA Factory...also..the Red is a very Nice Color on this Siren..looks real unique.

  • This is a VERY healthy Allertor, both in sound and appearance. Kudos to the maintenance people!

  • Nicely, Take a Shit in it!

  • why are they so ungly

  • OH!! i almost forgot and

    a 3016 and 4008

  • yeah.... about that i have NEVER seen an alerator EVER in my life! i have seen 2 thunderbolt 100Ts,wps-2810s are EVERYWHERE I GO!!!!!! 16 2001s 3 EOWS*-612s 2 T-128s an ACA P-50 a Modulater a Whelen vortex r and a4004

  • @hammoody12345 The reason you never saw one is you're not old enough to have seen them. The last one I knew of was taken down about 20 or so years ago.

  • a leaf blower on steroids...

  • @TaliumBoys

    That would be a 2001.

  • @TaliumBoys hahahaha nice comment dude :D:D

  • @TaliumBoys lol

  • First time I've ever seen a red Allertor.

  • The one in Trevor Wisconsin is painted red too.

  • @vigilante11485 I don't remember ever seeing any red ones either. I DO know there were LOTS of yellow ones with the Civil Defense logo on them when I was a kid.

  • @vigilante11485 i no right!!!

  • leaf blower

  • sounds like a evil lawnmower

  • I like this type of model, it can sure give the willies with its loud scary electric shaver sound,, lol !!!

  • this is a 9/12 port version now the 10/12 port version will make you shit your pants.

  • Yes, you're damn right dude!! Hahahaha!!!!!!

  • Whats up with the big tube thingy sticking out of the top of it?

  • Well Tabby26, that big tube thingy or tuba on top(lol) is considered to be a air intake just like the air scoop on top of muiscle car or hot rod to keep the motor cool. At first when I saw one like this here in California back when I was a kid I thought it was a double stacked air raid siren but later to learn that it isn't. I hope I helped!!

  • Actualy, I think your wrong.Great attempt, but air is actualy drawn in through the big bottom cone and the sound is directed out the top horn.I learned that by the time your reply was posted, but it is just a big oversized tuba, like you said.

  • Well I guess I can be wrong because I realy don'nt know much about these things but I have seen this same model form another these siren videos and I can see the rotor form the bottom cone or horn spinning and I assumed that thats where the sound is coming form like you said you it can intake the air and push the sound out on the big tube on top and the way its designed and surely matchse well for the sound that produces and I like it, get it? Very scary sounding,, lol !!!!

  • Actually tabby266 YOU are wrong. Air is drawn into both top and bottom openings, creating a black hole inside the siren. The sound is produced by the residents of billions of universes trapped inside and screaming as they die. Not very ethical of us to use their deaths to warn us about danger, but, it serves the purpose. Hope this helps :)

  • Um...thats nice,But these are old(?) and I dont think tht would work to well.Lemme google it.

  • do they still make these allerter's?? these sound the best along with the siratone 1212 and federal signal 2001. sorry , im a siren freak :-)

  • nope. All discontinued. :-(

  • I have always thought the Allertor sounds like the THX theme at startup.

  • @shann: I used to live a few miles from Eden Prarie... and no.. there isn't anything out there that would possibly have a nuclear silo. Mostly sleepy town with alot of old houses.

  • here in cincinnati we cant use allertors without transformers because we have 120 volts and the allertors need 240 volts.

  • so this would work in the UK without alteration

  • what do you think your oven runs off of?240 volts, same with your dryer.

240 volt outlets are everywere in the U.S.

  • They have it wired up backwards

  • how is it wired backwards?

  • ACA sirens use directional rotors, meaning they put out the most sound spinnig in a counterclockwise direction. Since the rotator is drive off the siren motor itself the siren spinning clockwise is a clear indication that the outer two legs of the three phase need to be swapped around.

It isn't a problem with the single phase ACA's, since they use center tap motors and will only run in one direction.

  • cool...

  • Yeah, I pass by this siren a lot. Not that that's interesting, but...

  • I've seen blue.

    I'e seen grey.

    I've seen yellow.

    I've seen lime fucking green

But Now I've seen a red one

  • I think I live near there.

  • Are there any Nuclear Silos around, I would assume, you maybe able to find suspicous locations of where Nuclear ICBMs are located, because of these, likely targets.

  • i haven't seen a red allertor before

  • Keep up the good work I love waching

  • Nice sounding alertor. I like the style of the fire engine color in this city.

  • i like the nice red coat of paint

  • dude that thing look like its gonna fall

    it all shaking

  • why is one for attack?!?!? it's like like irac is gonna nuke us...right??

  • l2spell.

  • huh?

  • l2spell = learn to spell.

  • These were made during the Cold War, when the thought was that the Soviets would launch a nuclear missile attack on the US. They were put in where I live in the aftermath of Three Mile Island, in case of an accident at the Beaver Valley power plant in nearby Shippingport, Pennsylvania.

  • @Lvfd416 Beaver Valley's Allertors were removed and replaced

  • @bulldozer950 Yeah, I was at Lawrenceville fire station when they took the one there down. Damn, was it sad to see it go- we've got a P.O.S. Federal 2001 now.

  • Gotta' love the Allertor 125.

  • There seems to be a huge network of these sirens accross the states, what are they still in use for? Is it just for severe weather warnings and so on? I know some fire services have them on their buildings to alert firefighters but what about all the other ones scattered throughout citys... sorry for my ignorance, I find them pretty cool though ;)

  • The sirens still in use are mainly to alert of Severe Weather, such as tornado warnings, and incase of a nuclear meltdown at a nuclear power plant.

  • thanks

  • severe weather

  • I live in Texas- originally from the Dallas area but now living in Austin. I have never seen an Allertor in person and seems that my chances for doing so are getting slimmer, lest I travel to MI or WI! I'd like to view one from google maps or google earth. Can you give me an exact intersection or address for one of the allertors in your area- preferably one that is close to the street so I can see it using "street view"?

  • You can see one of these in Englewood, CO. Just south of Denver.

  • LOL! It looks like a freekin double-horn tuba!

  • wtf do they warn against?

  • Severe weather.

  • they also serve to alert volunteer firefighters

  • theresoooo uglyyy yoooo

  • They look really goofy!

  • Yes, most siren buffs say the Allertor is by far the strangest looking siren ever made.

  • i hope you were wearing earplugs dude...

  • great sound

  • I live in Carthage M.O. and we have 11 sirens

  • OMG I LIVE RIGHT BY THIS!!!

  • OMG YOU LIVE RIGHT BY THIS!!!???

  • yes i do.

  • What's with the primor red?

  • Good Siren Video. I find it pretty cool to see the siren slow down on the wind down in attack and when it winds back up its like jumps with force at rotations fast. Thats because the shopper motor also control the rotation too thats what is cool about allertors.

  • great quality!

  • OMG I LIVE BY THIS!!!!!

  • I think they repainted this siren.

    I think it was yellow.

  • I thought these old sirens were used for air raid attack! but are they still used for an air raid attack?

  • Duh, because America is clearly at huge risk of an air raid in semi-rural towns.

Don't quote me on this, but I'm pretty sure they're used for tornadoes/storms nowadays, or perhaps just general use. I don't really put much research in this stuff, but maybe I'm right.

  • The original purpose behind all tornado sirens was for air raid. Hence the various tones that you can hear from one. All these sirens were and are still called Civil Defense sirens. But with the threat of an actual air attack on US soil anymore, the sirens were converted to use by the National Weather Service and Office of Emergency Managment offices for use in warning the public of weather, chemical, biological or natural disaster. They can still be used in the even of an air raid though.

  • my allertor's horns ar pure blue. red is not the proper color red looks like shit. but blue is a better color. blue is my favort color ...

  • i had one one these and i replaced the motor with a chevy 350 moter. i'll tell you what this thing screams so loud it'll make you shit your pants.

  • i been in front of one before. it just rumbeld my chest it did not bother my ears at all. non if them do becuse i have strong ears. i put my head in side a allertor in the horn part ... no joke

  • if you take the motor out of an ACA Alertor

and replace it with a thunderbeam motor

thn it would be compleatly mesed up.

it would be a single tone alertor.

  • I grew up with an Allertor 125 in Coon Rapids and have seen many of these throughout the Twin Cities -- however, I've never seen a red one! Is this still down in Eden Prairie?
