I'd forgotten about another great Canadian band from the 80's.especially this song. I remember April Fool. For die hard fans, they're coming to Toronto on October 1 at the Phoenix.
saw them live back in 1987, they were great and miss seeing them play, wish they'd tour again, so Ima see them and sing my lungs out with them..one of my Favorites is Big White Cloud..
Being from the heartland (chi-town), I thank the gods for the ridiculously LARGE satellite dishes that we had in the 80's... How else would I have known: awesome music, canada, and mulletts... Seriously, no offense....
It's 11 o'clock and they talk of him About the eve of destruction And a new ray gun For my defense A mended fence When my head hits the pillow Am I looking up at ground zero? For heaven's sake I am wide awake The morning comes soon This mourning makes me blue The morning comes soon This mourning makes me blue If a man in the street can get to sleep The city is busy digging graves for counting sheep Then you'd blow him away He won't see the day
@patbirder CFNY......What happened to CFNY?? That place used to be the only radio station I ever listened to. Now they are beset by idiots and the usual top 50 crapola… Too bad….
@NorthofYou1 more like what happened to bands and music like this....try Vancouver's The Peak 100.5 live-streaming....not much from the 80's but very decent alternative stuff :)
Saw them at Barrymores in Ottawa several times many years ago. Friends of mine were cousins to Chris (singer) and we always got in free and backstage. Nice kids all of them.
great tune!,. loved it back in the 80's when the song came out. these guys reminded me of a Simpleminds/InXs fusion of sorts. and yes to agree with other posters, it is too bad that they never lasted too long.
This song is pretty good too. I like the echo. the harmonies are great. the drummer keeps the beat pounding, the guitar jangles my brain. All great stuff, the words are great too. Great group!
i just heard it on the radio....i forgot how freakin good that was. listening to both tapes in my yellow sony walkman in the yellow bus going to sbhool. those were the good days. miss you Annissa !!
whoahhhh I completly forgot this song... it never seems to pop up in usually 80's retro radio segments... they kinda are the missing link of studio rock of the 80's and the grunge of the nineties...
I saw these guys open for Rush in Montreal in...88 I think. Great band live too, and the fnas really enjoyed it, which lets you know. If you open and you're getting a standing O from people who weren't there to see you, you're rocking it.
Man this song brings back memories. There were so many good Canadian bands in the 1980s-- Chalk Circle was one of them. Unfortunately, they didn't last too long.
Chalk Circle was my favorite band in the 80's. I was one of their favorite groupies. I used to have the Mending Wall cassette (no CD's at that time) with all their autographs on it. Now, I can't even find the album anywhere. I would love to aquire it again. There are a few other Canadian bands from that time that I miss but found on You Tube to my suprise. Like, Harlequin, and Northern Pikes. Any other Saskatchewan people out there who remember any of these bands?
One of the most underrated Canadian bands ever. I was at the ontario place show when a buddy asked Chris Tait if they were breaking up. He sadly confirmed the rumors. Long live CC.
Yes, it's on CD...I have all three of Chalk Circle's albums on CD (don't need the 'best of' album...and when I went to Red Deer College in the late 80s/early 90's they played there; great show, even if my girlfried has a serious crush on the bass player...
Is that Arnold Lani from Frozen Ghost on keyboards?
