  • another great training, Thanx. I tried to throw an 8" cyl today and had to cut it at 5.5. It was too bulky at the top and was twisting. After the cut I "saved" it. Now I get how your bring the clay up narrow and inwards, then raise it. had been missing that part. Guess I need to make a mistake to see just how you do it. Where I am throwing they are wondering how I am doing so well already-just been on the wheel a week now- and I tell them it is because of your videos. You ROCK! Keep practicing..

  • I like the guage method...stick in the mud routine.

  • Thanks for the wiring off demo. Slick!

  • BTW: That little needle tool that comes w/ Simon's tool set & special tool is a wonderful addition. I'd be lost w/o it. It's so much better than those bulky ones that come w/other commercial kits.

Also, Simon is the towel you use placed under the back of your tush or do you have a hook or something holding it? Just curious. I tend to throw in cut-off shorts or a long-long shirt (wheel in kitchen). I'll have to wear shorts or pants in near future when studio is ready w/i the next month or two.

  • I must admit: I am still a Trekkie. But now I am a Sleachie too...

  • I wear overalls that I slip on over my clothes and a towel... I wipe my hands on both LOL

  • i have a lot of trouble geting it to come off evenly i hate it and it makes me thro the pot at a nabor or a teacher whom ever is closer lol... not nice but effective

  • I concur with everyone here! Except I still wipe my hands on my pants... and I try to always remember to put on my pottery pants first! LOL THANKS SIMON!

  • Thanks, Simon. There is real value in repetition and reinforcement. Great video, as always.

  • Simon...After watching your almost daily instructional vids all I can say is thank you !..you have the most positive outlook I have ever seen. Do you find doing this video thing gives you incentive to carry on when most potters are saying why bother trying to do this as a living?

  • I had my wife convinced it was OK to wipe my hands on my pants, now she knows Simon's been using a towel and now I have to. Oh well...

  • ROFL! I love it!

  • I wear jumpsuits I have gotten from friends and secondary stores while I throw. I have about 6 of them so I can constantly have clean ones while others are washing. I have a tendency to get covered from head to toe in clay... those jumpers work great. :)

  • Sounds like a good idea to me. Of course I won't know if it is or not, until my wife lets me know.

  • I agree w/Glassfox9; ROFL! Said from a wife's POV & all in good fun too.... That's cute. You men always try something w/o realizing us women were blessed w/eyes in the back of our heads, supersonic hearing, & telepathic ability to give us an idea of what the kids are doing & when they are doing something they shouldn't. It kinda goes off like alarm for DHs only not as accurate as w/the kids. LOL!

  • Another very useful and enjoyable video, thanks, Simon. At last it's getting warm enough here in Staffordshire to make throwing a real pleasure again!

  • Hi Simon, Great day her in New England. Yea, I getting out to my pottery shed today ;-D May try some mugs Thanks ~ Karen

  • Sometimes while watching these video's i resort back to what my basketball coach use to say. Practice the fundamentals that will make you better. This is probably one of your best teaching video's. Thank you simon for your time.
