As a Hapkido instructor myself, Josh has a very good understanding of Hapkido. Muscle power is NOT the way of coordinated power. Strength and power is very different.
I wish there was a Hapkido school where i live. i'v been in Soryu Karate for 8yrs (2st degree blackbelt) and TKD for 2yrs (2nd degree blackbelt). I think Hapkido would be a good one to try next.
Nice drill and comments regarding the tactical mindset needed to make these type of responses work (also like the demonstration of using a simple strike to re-engage flow).
i would like to say ive been watching your videos for a while. im a sophomore in high school, and some senior kid tried to pick a fight with me today and when he tried to push me he ended up falling right on his ass and looking stupid, so thank you very much for your lessons.
Awesome. That makes doing these techniques all worth while if someone can learn something from them. What happened after he fell? Did he give up on trying to pick a fight?
Excellent! You demonstrate and explain the principle very clearly. They only thinki extra I would like to see is more camera angles showing the techniques from different vantage points. Admittedly, this is harder to do without using multiple cameras or chooting the same thing several times, moving the camera each time. But that's video technique, your Hapkido and your instruction is terrific.
Thank you very much for you comment. I feel that I'm getting more and more comfortable in front of the camera. I probably should try some different things to make my videos better. Do you practice Hapkido as well?
hey josh i study hapkido too. i love your videos. i just got my yellow belt and am working on my orange. your videos have helped me tweek my techniques for hte better thank you!!!!!!
Hey Josh, great video. so many people show techniques. and TALK about principles but never seem to explain them or show them. this is exactly what you've done here with a key principle of hapkido and jujutsu arts. non resistance. great vid!
Nice drill.

Nice job on structuring the drill. It makes a great learning tool for the students. I might have to steal it. ;)

These are similar to some ninjutsu techniques I am familiar with. Pretty cool and effective stuff.

Hapkido means the way of coordinated power. I wish it was more popular as well as there aren't many more schools around here other than mine.
