Bill mentioned in a routine that it shouldn`t matter how many were killed in 9/11 because it happens everywhere else in the world every day. That may be true but it`s the first time in over 50 years it happened in the US. Obviously it`s going to have an effect on people...and the brutality involved may happen elsewhere but people come to the US and Canada to escape this sort of thing.

He does have the right to his own opinion however-so do the people who pay his salary. In a time where our service men are dying overseas to prevent Bill Maher's own opinion from being threatened, he said whatever he wanted, and it was really stupid, and very hypocritcial-I don't see very many service men in his audience, nor as guests on his show.

I think his defense clarifications later were very admirable, but sadly too little too late. The damage had already been done.
If you want to know the real reason Bill lost his job, it probably had more to do with the fact that the same conglomerates own the TV stations/shows that own the companies that make the bombs we are dropping overseas.
Had this happened in WW2 Maher would have probably been arrested. (I don't agree with that.)
But face it, anti-war people don't last long on tv.

How do our troops "attack with cruise missiles"? Does a soldier fly a missile all the way to its intended target? Pressing a button on a computer is not the same as being on the ground and having to look at your leg blown off and hope help will get there in time.

No, support the troops means the men sacrificing their lives to fight in the war. I served in Afghanistan, and I was against the war from the beginning, we took out bad guys. Its even noted in history, you can be against the war but support the troops. Protest the ones sending them, just as Vietnam, because if you do not support them, and honor them then they have died for nothing.
