  • Enchanting. Don't know if you composed yourself, but respect. Greetings from Austria.

  • Most of the pieces in this Book/CD are from the Renaissance, but this one I did write. Thank you for your note. Greetings from Arizona. Allan

  • This piece is titled "The Enchanted Hollow." and the only place to get the CD or the Book with the music is from myself or my publisher. - Allan Alexander

  • What is the name of this piece?!

  • splendid absoulutley divine

  • beautiful, timeless, and well done!

  • Thank you so much, I really appreciate that. That was a beautiful Comment. - Allan

  • Thank you so much. I am delighted you like it. By the way, we have many books for flute available at our site guitarandlute

  • ok so i went on this website and bought a diffent renaissance mandolin book, two questions: one.do all renaissnace books you have come with a cd, tabs and sheet music? two. is it only the renaissance fair book that comes with this song?

  • Hi, as far as I know, you didn't buy it from us, so I am not sure about what you bought. I can tell you that this tune is only in our book, because I wrote it. And all of our books for mandolin come with a CD, TAB and Notation. our sites are mandolinandguitar and guitarandlute and you have to add the typical com extension to them. - Allan

  • @guitarandlute It was orderd under a different name, its coming to the UK.

thanks for clearing that up for me!

  • @noahjell - Ah, yes I actually remember. You should have that any day. Thanks for letting me know. - Allan

  • Hey man this is wonderful! I am 17 years old and I will tell you this kind of music is my favorite. This stuff is so much better than the music we listen to now days.

  • Hi, Like your youtube name, very nice. I agree with you, I love both renaissance and medieval music, but I wrote this piece particular piece.. Anyway, music is the best game there is. I don't understand the attraction to computer games. If you don't play an instrument, it's the best game in town. the instrument is the hardwar, (the game machine or computer) and the music is the software (the game you play). I'm still playing tunes I learned 40 years ago, no computer games last that long. - Allan

  • @guitarandlute Totally agree with you. Music was actually there!!!! Although i do like video games so I can feel like I'm part of the history, or part of the fantasy world. I also like programming computers and games (I'm a computer programming) but I will tell you. I am a a civil war reenactor. I am a member of the line infantry. However, I am trying to learn to play the fife so I can play music from that time. Music from the past fascinates me!

  • @phantomswordsmen - I'm not saying video games aren't fun, I'm saying, at least for me, music is the best game in tow. Music from the past is wonderful, each period has great great pieces. Medieval, renaissance and baroque are my favorite, but there are plenty of pieces later which are fantastic. - Allan

  • The Renaissance period (1400-1600)

  • what is this song called? i need ta know cause i play mandolin and i want to know this!!!

  • This piece is entitled "The Enchanted Hollow" and the only place you can get this piece is in our book/cd "Mandolin Music for Renaissance Faires." - Allan

  • This is so beautiful!:) I need to learn how to play this.

  • We have this in a book for mandolin, there are many beautiful pieces in the edition, and it comes with a CD. - Allan

  • And I thought Rod Stewart invented the mandolin!

  • Mi Ladies.....See ROMANTIC movie clip A knight and his lady

  • in the middle ages they knew that the Earth is a sphere

  • This is music for Renaissance faires, not Medieval ones. Renaissance means after 1450.

  • After 1350. The Renaissance period is from 1350 to 1525.

  • The Renaissance doesn't 'start' in 1350.

The Renaissance is just the name for a period in time which had several unique traits. The beginning of such a period isn't an exact science (since not all new realisations occur simultaneously in the entire world). That's why there is no exact date. A few possible dates could be: 1492 (discovery of America) or 1453 (fall of Constantinople).

Not that it's that important on a youtube video of mandolin music, but you started :D

  • @casper1581 Wisdom on youtube is not recommended, good sir! :)

  • so is the mandolin a medieval instrument? i want to learn a medieval instrument but i dont know what one. i love the lute but i cant find a left handed one for sale. any opinions?

  • learn to play it righty. Not that big a deal.

  • This is nice.

  • You can find all of our Book/CD collections on our site.

  • You can find the music book which comes with a CD on our site, mandolinandguitar - Allan

  • I love this kind of music do you have it on mandolin?

  • How amazing the human being is. To create such music. It's lovely

  • You wouldnt happen to have sheet music for this song, or a song like it. Im looking for a duet just like this. Thanks

  • very nice Alan and Alex

I thought I had your phone number but I do not.

    Richard

  • It depends all, I discover, when one reads your comment: First there is always a nice smile on my face, which is very good! But then, because the piece is so beautifully played, I refrain from being joky and trift straight into the Renaissance with my romantic-laden mind. So beautiful to listen!

  • ummm that's like saying is a guitar the instrument the westerners play?

There are many, many instruments that 'Asians play. And some Asians may indeed play mandolin as they may play the violin or piano. But traditionally the mandolin is a western instrument descended from the lute and not played by Asians although Asian people have many instruments which are stringed and similar to the mandolin, i.e. (And here my knowledge is minimal at best) Sitar, Sarod, Ektar, Dotor etc.

  • Thanks!

  • This is beautiful!

  • Look up my video on youtube of music from the Skene Manuscript. This is renaissance Scottish lute music. I have a link in the video information where you can download the music for free and try playing it yourself. Its an interesting collection of Scottish and French pieces.

  • over the years i have listened to many types of music, disco, blues, , motown, soul , heavy metal etc - I even listen to napalm death and bolt thrower, but i ADORE renaissance and baroque music, please keep it alive! Thanks :D

  • How beautiful. That makes you really feel at ease.

  • which piece from the book is this?

  • This piece is "The Enchanted Hollow." Thanks

    Aleksandra & Allan

  • Gorgeous music! I have my ambitions high that I can create music half as soothing as that someday.
