  • I want this feature all the time.

  • I am not that important, or I do not believe that anyone cares what my medical records say, I can get 10 doctors to say something else. It is nice when you know people at Makati Medical Center (owned by MPIC) whom hate drunks.

  • This is fantastic!

  • What next? Google Bedroom? So you can have access to information on what I get up to in the bedroom at night? Gimme a break!

  • isnt human comunication more updated.

  • google already know enough about me. i'll pass.

  • Making all of this information this open and this transparent is kind of scary...

  • @79898325 To open? Instead of going to the lab>lab database>fax machine/mail/lab computer own by the lab company>doctor>nurse>who ever is around listening>secretary>file cabinet>you. It goes from your lab database>google>you and lab database>google>doctor. Just don't give your password. Companies aren't allow to give out health information to other entities except for health reasons or billing reasons. <.<; They need an authorization from the patient. It's HIPPA law, is it not?

  • I think some hospitals have systems like this. If a computer programmer takes a good look at this one, screw google.

  • @wheelieblind The records are all split up and take forever to send to each other. Doctor A wants labs from Doctor B or the Facility. Doctor A calls office B talks to secretary B about the records. Secretary B sends it to doctor A in Office or Facility A through the fax. Which can lag due to incoming fax and being broken. Or if it's a facility Doctor A has to talk to Medical Records who then pull the file and sends it. Both sides wait for phone call or fax. Recheck & call back. Lot of middlemen!

  • @bittertea This is why we need a standardized, electronic way of dealing with medical records. Think about it. In the digital world, we have all kinds of standards: PDF, HTML, email, etc. Why isn't there a standardized way of dealing with medical records? If it existed then all that time spend sending records all over God's creation would practically not exist. It's a waste of time and money. Build the infrastructure to allow more standardized ways of doing things and you'll see costs go down.

  • no thanx I can just c this 1 getting hacked & being reported on local news etc. LOL

  • YA DAMN RIGHT its gonna get hacked!!!!

people are gonna hack in and find out what STD's and STI's Paris Hilton/ Britney ,etc, have got . . . . . . . Privacy???

    no, who wants that!!!

  • Your name is Stephanie Taylor, not Dr. Stephanie Taylor.

  • really,,,,who give a fuck either way .

  • Looks like this is a simple, easy to use, well designed, highly accessible system. Good start and one that will definitely bring about competition. As for the comments about security, nothing is 100% secure. There is a bit of a trade-off with having information in the cloud. Personally, I wouldn't be too terribly concerned. If your information is protected and Google provides a good privacy policy then that's good enough in my opinion. Just don't use a simple password. (steamd(.)net)

  • So you compare a simple thing like YouTube with my medical records?

You just killed this discussion with that comment.

  • You already put your medical records in the hands of people who have a worse track record than Google. What do you suggest? maybe an encrypted system where you only have access? What if you lose the password? In the end you have to trust someone. If you've got a better suggestion then suggest it. Be constructive.

  • People who can´t understand ironi is adorable.

    Espesially Google fanboys and fangirls.

They think Google is gods gift to mankind.

  • I still don´t trust a "search engine" to handle my medical records.

So no, I don´t have my answer.

  • The64BitGeek:

If you think Google is just a "Search Engine"? Then you're right. You don't have a LOT of answers. Ignorant people are adorable.

  • You trusted your personal information to google already. Youtube is owned by Google. You also trust a government of lying, cheating , dysfunctional individuals to handle most of your information. So how much worse could Google possibly be? But on the other hand you should be careful with who you put your trust in. That's why you can only go by their past reputation. Has Google proven to be worse than any government?

  • And yet you trust a "computer company" like Microsoft or Apple with all your other personal information. You also trust a simple thing like a "bank" with all your finances too. None of these are 100% secure. Security is just an illusion. Why? Because people are not perfect. People make mistakes. It happens every day. It's what drives people to be paranoid and yet when you think about it how many people really care about your medical records? Where's the gain? It's not money. It's just info.

  • Well said bravado214.

  • @bravado214 Hospitals aren't companies? Kaiser is not a company? Doctor clinic is not a business? Not to mention all the other Hospitals/Clinic/Out-Patient facilities who rely on outside tech/data companies to make their lives easier with technology/databases and crap. Your insurance can request for your records and so can billing. Other doctors can. Transportation (if you use ambulatory care). The paramedics get your health info.

The information goes through more hands than you think already.

  • @bittertea Indeed. But, again, ask yourself what the profit motive is from having your medical information. If anything, any access, anonymous or not, can be beneficial. For instance, a medical research company could use the information to see patterns with certain illnesses and whether certain treatments are more effective. That's one of the main benefits in systems like Google Health. That's the goal. Again, privacy is an illusion. It doesn't exist unless you're 100% off the grid.

  • @bravado214 Google isn't allowed to use your health information without your permission. Sure they can behind your back but if they do it's against the LAW at the moment.

    The law it called HIPAA.

The goal isn't medical research. The goal is to get information from your doctor/laboratory/pharmacy hands to your hands as seamless as possible.

  • @bittertea Right. I'm just saying that similar technology could be used to allow medical researchers access to data that would otherwise take them a ton of time to collect. Question is: Would you allow Google to share your data anonymously to researchers if it meant that researchers could potentially find valuable info that could lead to curing some diseases?

  • Great idea. I have no idea what's in my medical records. it's like some top secret document the doctors redact before letting you take a peak.

  • As great as this sounds. Ultimately, government will take control and it's just another step back in time to the world described in the book, "1984"

    In a term, Big Brother.

  • nice

  • I would never trust companies like Google or another "search-engine" to store my medical records.

    No way man.

  • What's wrong in it? You are always free to keep your own record on paper too. Google is just sheer convenience. By the way how many times you lost information you uploaded on google mail or picasaweb compared to that you lost from your windows computer over last 3 -4 years? You have your answer.

  • Thanks Google - please tell us about data encryption from our computers to the Goggle web servers after we enter our personal data in a Goggle video on this subject. This would be helpful for all Goggle Documents...

  • if only that doct0r had a tablet running chrome, runing google health

  • do i really want to give you, google, even more data?

It's for a good reason a private thing between the patient and the doctor(s)

  • No, you just want to die and make way for a generation using twitter & facebook 24/7, sending hundreds of sms daily while carring a gps tracked supercomputer in their pocket.

    pri-va-what?

  • not really...

i'm using twitter and facebook but i only share the things i want to.. but here?

its something complete different if you share your medical state with a company like google or just your doctor(s)

The problem with google is their service-bundles: if you share something here on youtube their other services are able to use it to show you other search results for example. Today something like this isnt used but it isn't a big thing to implement something like this with ease

  • mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... good idea. Kinda scary tho.

  • this vid is so high def I can see her mustache

  • privacy issues. ??

  • A doctor's secretary's computer is anything but secure.

Who knows, she may have installed the latest-so-cute screensaver that steals all the passwords entered (including the one to view your medical record)

Good ol' paper, a Fax machine and you've got yourself the best hacker proof filing system ever.

Computers should make our lives better by simplifying things, not making simple things more complicated for the sake of using a computer.

  • peppeddu: Let me get this straight. First a secretary puts your information into a computer to share with medicare, medicaid, your insurance company, a billing agency and their insurance provider and each one of these prints out a copy from their network connected computer and saves it for a few weeks until it's time to put it on microfiche where it sits unable to be even understood without looking at on an obsolete piece of technology and then you're over-billed but unable to dispute it?

  • I agree with you partly but do you mean that the paper with all your private info is just for an authorized person's eyes? Think twice.

Computers make our lives as difficult or easier as we want. Privacy is not just a computer-related issue.

  • I don't mean doctors and secretaries are bad, just computer-naive.

Who hasn't come across a secretary that puts pictures of her children in her PC and download "cute programs" when she's bored at the office?

Whose ladies are the ones who are most vulnerable to computer security.

They know how to keep a piece f paper safe.

They don't know how to manage a PC.

    and

In a small practice, there's no IT infrastructure to keep things safe.

Therefore I trust them with the good ol' paper.

  • @peppeddu I was driving by a hospital and I saw 2 files of medical records in the middle of the street while I was turning left and right before the freeway. Good old paper. :D Who is to say the cleaning crew and janitor doesn't have a key to the office and can't check out all your SS# if they wanted too. :O

  • @bittertea They sure can if they want to. Paper is not a 100% secure way to store information.

    But my point is another.

All it takes is one click in the wrong place and all the data stored in a computer will be transferred to a server overseas.

The computer is managed by companies that have no responsibility for data theft and operated by security-clueless people (mostly secretaries)

Would you trust your medical data into this mess?

  • @peppeddu @bravado214 So there is going to be a cute medical theme wallpaper website with a spyware that a secretary is going to click on or secretaries manage google databases?

BTW the person who drop the records I thought was probably a doctor 'cause go back and forth from their clinic to the hospital a lot if they are close by and have privileges at the hospital. Secretaries fax. So do you trust a doctor with your medical information? :P I think you should despite human error.

  • GOOGLE CANNOT MAKE MISTAKES!

  • Typo for the fucking lose. Wow dude.

  • FUCK THAT

  • Bad spelling

  • Im not being part of this.

Leave it in the folders in the file cabinet.

    acess lol

  • When I go to the hospital they ask if ive ever been there before... I was fucking born there 30 years ago those morons!

  • they have to ask you for permission first

You dont want some advertising company holding your medical records and selling it to other companies

  • why not? you might see more Viagra ads next to your gmail letters? seriously, what are they gonna do?

  • Acess lmao hahahaha

  • Online? Might as well put my SSN on there as well....

  • You know in the early eighties when I was in the Air Force, it was encouraged to have your ssn number printed on your checks as the military uses your ssn as your id number...lol. I don't think they encourage that any longer. As for this online stuff..hmm..with all the hackers and viruses...I am not sure it is the wisest decision. Although, I am not sure that paper is the best anymore either.

  • Really? I wonder if anybody ever had their SSN stolen like that :O

  • care to share some proof? I am sure the class would be very interested to see it.

  • Awesome as usual. Google FTW.

  • She probably has no clue what a computer is lol.

  • failed

  • i think the lady has no clue whats all possible with a computer

  • I think this is great. Paper is utterly pathetic in this day.

  • this is nuts.nobodys buisness

  • wouldnt want my med records online tbh ..

  • access**

  • Google fails at spelling.

    Acess

  • FOURTH

    (lol)
