  • still completely relevant, even though we live in a totally war culture. yeah, that's what the United Snakes is... a war culture

  • Please dont be dumb! We have a Constitution freedom of speech if you have heard. Who banned it? It would have been the radio stations they are not only independently owned by different companies but individuals. So this ban would have to come through the Federal Govt and them going to court to get an injunction. There is no case law! It would have been a lawsuit in a minute filed by every record label , producer , artists even the news media would have joined in. Look for a court case.

  • @christowned There is no arguments before the Supreme Court or any lower Court and thats where the ban would have to come from. Stop spreading lies and rumors and get your facts straight LOl Jspive u cant b that dumb the State Department has no authority to shut in record company or anything else down. Other than other countries that the Federal Gov placed travel restrictions on and that s as far as their authority goes. It would have had to come through a lawsuit ie and injunction

  • christowned - Check out Freda Payne comments, plus Vietnams Veteran told me they heard the song but then it stopped airing. Freda Payne comments should be on YouTube that's what I'm referring to. Many songs were banned in the 70's especially Motown song like "dancing in the street" to name a few. Bring the Boys Home was thought to be a political song against the was and the State Department shut it down. It's all history -- check it out.

  • @jspive011 u call the State Department tomorrow and ask them spivey please record it so everyone can get a laugh. This band would have to come from to place the FCC or the Courts. Either or u would be able to find a docket number and there are none because once and for all . There were no ban on this record. The protester did more damage than any one record could that wasnt even a cross over hit mainly played on your black radio stations. There was no ban we heard it over and over again.

  • @we heard this over over again on the radio stations. Call any of your DJ ask them could the STate Department issue a ban on any records being played and they would tell u the same thing. The FCC or the Court. Someone quote case law and the challenges that were made? There is none this would have been the biggest Supreme Court Case since Brown vs The Board of Education every artist , record level , media outlet , both written , print , news etc would have been part of it Freedom of Speech.

  • please post

  • This song is timeless. It was banned in 1971 but it still holds true today. This is not our war. Our children are being lost for no reason.

  • @eojyhtak this song was not band that was a rumor and a lie.

  • Wow! I lost family in Nam and friends! And, you know what they said about Freda Payne's song "Bring the boys home" it made them cry each time they heard that song! They wanted that song more than any song at that time but it was taken off the air. This song is long gone but never forgotten. Thank you Freda Payne!

  • @jspive011 Just like the rumor about the girl being shot during the ohio players recording of fire and donna summer being a man. This song was played over and over on the radio it never was banned. I heard this song all over the U.S.

  • Just like it was yesterday....wow !!!

  • She's still hot and the song so true

  • Thank you for posting this. After the news today, it is more relevant than ever. Bring the boys home. NOW!!!

  • In the early 1970's there several songs that were always present when thinking of my Uncle Gabe who served in Vietnam, "The Supremes - (post Diane Ross) Bill When Are You Coming Back" & "Freda Payne - Bring The Boys Home" are two that together with "Edwin Star - War" always played in our home!

  • My Only Problem With This Song, Is That When Freda Pops On The Screen Singing,

I Can't Think About Anything Except How Beautiful She Looks!

What A "Woman" Then & Now!

  • God Freda is beautiful singing this amazing song!

  • This song saved my life, and shaped it to be the person I am today! After hearing this song in May 1971, I joined the Army as a Medic!

  • @Thecaring1

    Right ON! <3<3<3

  • though by nature i'm a pacifist (i was in the USAF) it doesn't mean that i denigrate our men/women/gays/str8 who fight for what they believe in...i was in high school when this came out and it was dinner conversation as to whether my brother who was graduating was going to have to go...thankfully it didn't happen...but i think this is one of the greats of antiwar lyrics out there...just the opening sequence makes me a bit weepy thinking how alone and forgotten some might feel under fire...
