  • Shut up you sad, socially inept wankers. Some people just don't like Radiohead or overtly and consistently depressing music, get the fuck over it you pricks. I love the song, and have a great respect for the band. If others don't it's up to them. Yes, it a very melancholy song, undoubtedly. What's wrong with people having their views?

  • not even gone comment,,,this is a joke!

  • if i could dislike this i would a 100 times, you are an idiot this is beautiful!

  • Who is she?

  • Fuck me its kay burley from sky news, needless to say she's still clueless and should never have had a broadcasting job

  • she obviously can't handle the beauty

  • I actually feel insulted

  • the ultra fast no surprises is so comical. i laugh every time i hear it

  • stupid bitch

  • Seeing the title of this youtube clip I thought I was going to hear "Friday" by Rebecca Black...that is actually the worst song, and I mean the WORST song, I ever heard.

  • This woman should go on a diet if she is not already dead. Some people just don't understand what Radiohead are all about. They use to put out some not so happy tunes. That has kind of changed over the years.

  • assholes

  • "It's the most miserable sounding tune i've ever heard"

"Shut Up i didn't ask your shitty opinion!"

  • "No surprise"

"He actually drowns at the end"

Shows how much they actually looked into the song and the video

  • What a moronic cunt.

  • radiohead the best band...

  • I don't think this song is depressing, it's very bittersweet feeling.

  • you know you are stupid when you dont like the best band ever. congratulations, donks

  • @OCIRELCNU Best band ever? Yeah, right lol.

  • Wow, these poor people

  • "can we fastforward it a bit" sickening anticipation

  • Comment removed

  • It's not depressing ...it's uplifting

  • Depressing? such an over used word isn't it.. I feel uplifted when I hear brilliant rhetoric and irony that Radiohead use in their music. Depressing to me is a half naked "diva" singing her latest hit to thousands of impressionable 13 year old girls or a testosterone driven male artist whose biggest fear in the world is to be call gay.. HA!

  • @JoeyfromPhilly One of the best comments I've read here.

  • IDK why but i never found this song depressing I think how to disappear completely is way more depressing or motion picture soundtrack

  • this song is pretty depressing tho

  • The things a man will do for his art :)

  • trolllololololololol.............

  • When I saw the movie I was like the song...I hope I die before I get old.........well only if getting old means become a robot cunt like her.

  • narrow-minded fools...

  • i don't like these people

  • Sit there and stuff yourself with cake in your happy land with the monotonous drone you call music. Fuck pop, the black eyed peas and the charts and who the fuck is Plan B, i will never know. I'm happy with my music, Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Placebo, Nirvana and The Beatles. I and don't make you listen to it all the time, so why do i have to suffer through the shit that's played on the Radio all the time. Sorry for the rant.

  • Two words for her. Fuck You.

  • I've been hearing a lot of people say that Radiohead is overrated lately. Fuck that, I say they're underrated if anything. This lady is a dumbass, and Jeremy3711 is right, she just rejects it due to the fact that it describes her shit life.

  • i love radiohead and "no surpsises" is probably my favorite song. and i would definetly call it "miserable" but in a good way.

  • @koalajones88

    fuck you

    try to fit in harder

  • This is why the news should be completely impartial. Having a cunt like Kay Burley criticise a band as authenic and soulful as radiohead is a disgrace, she has no clue (just like the majority of skys viewers) what real music is, AND SHE STILL SPOUTS OUT THIS BILE FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC TO HEAR! It genuinely makes my blood curdle when i hear opinions based on pure ignorance.

  • Idiots.

  • Can't say I'm surprised. Kay Burley is an ignorant, whining, vicious harridan with an established history of professional cuntery. If she's not strangling a fellow hack or labelling students protesting tuition fees 'insurgents', she's asking the most facile questions/SIMPLY NOT GETTING the story (search 'Chris Bryant Kay Burley' on here) or reducing Peter Andre (yeah, he's an attention-hungry tit, but still) to tears.

What I'm saying is: she's an insensitive dolt who's perfect for Murdoch.

  • it still astonishes me how you can get three people in the same room and their iq's combined are lower than the iq of a tree trunk. they must have broken some kind of a record there.

  • also this reminds me of a bad trip

  • beavis and butthead could have made a more intelligent conversation about this video.

  • KAY BURLEY IS A FUCKING STUPID BITCH, I HATE HER

  • lol what did I just watch?

  • What the fuck... that woman's brains were leaking! Please!

  • wow ive lost all faith in the human race

  • why does thom moves so frenetically when the water comes out, i mean he hold hisd breath for like what 20 seconds? thats not so much really.... but he looks like he was suffering a seizure when the waters get cleared

  • @IamTheScorchedEarth because he actually holds his breath longer than 20 seconds dipshit

  • @artgeek707 they speed up the footage he wasnt in there so long and besides i think he has claustrophobia or something i dunno... and why do you have to insult me? i was just asking something dammit

  • @IamTheScorchedEarth That was one of the outtakes. If you get a chance, watch the rest of the documentary. He did that because he was frustrated, and under a massive amount of stress.

  • Complete twaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaats.

  • @koalajones88 I hear what you're saying, and there is truth there, they aren't crazy celebrity fame mongers on the pop circuit. But then they never wanted to be, as evidenced by the direction they took after OK Computer. I think they committed themselves to something more than that, and that's why they are respected by both critics AND fans, of whom there are many.

  • @koalajones88 Perhaps not to the standards of today's pop stars, I'll give you that. However, those acts are here today and gone tomorrow. As for the charts, Kid A debuted at number 1 in the US upon its release. Creep is still played on network radio. And they have concert footage of venues like the Tokyo Dome and Glastonbury with over 100,000 people in attendance.

  • @koalajones88 If nobody likes Radiohead, and their sound only appeals to a tiny minority, how do they have millions of fans across the world, a career that spans almost 20 years, some of music's most prestigious awards (including Grammy's and a Mercury Prize), and pretty universal recognition FROM PEOPLE JUST LIKE THIS that they are the most important band in modern rock?

  • I bet that bitch voted Tory!

  • I think what the lady meant by using the word, "miserable" was to describe the mood of the song, which is in fact pretty melancholy and heavy.

The focus of their comments where to accentuate how emotionally heavy the sound of the 'tune' was.

man: "Y'know, critics love Radiohead, I think they're alright, but it (the song) is a bit...y'know?"

woman: "It's the most miserable sounding tune I've ever heard!"

Keep in mind, OKC had such a defined, apocalyptic message when compared to older work.

  • @koalajones88 waa

  • If by miserable you mean beautiful, than yes, it's miserable.

  • All theese fuckin arseholls want to here is fuckin shit pop. Without emotion.

  • jesus, this video just sums it all up: a relentless juggernaut of lego-build "Dream Houses", commuters like gerbils on a wheel and moronic "celeb" presenters who don't realise they're part of the "joke". It's a symbolic statement honey: he's drowning in the same shit that you're happy to wallow in..

  • philistine

  • when they're both dush bags....fat chow - mow & mamma's boy. this band is just in another world all together.

  • stupid cunt

  • In case anyone is interested, the woman is Kay Burley and she's a massive cunt. And she's been a massive cunt for her entire career so I wouldn't take her opinion seriously.

  • I can hear him but I can't see the lips move hahhahahahaha oh wow

  • holy shit do I want to kick that woman in the ovaries.

  • Jeremy, that's actually a hilariously good point. The whole album is about lack of agency (ostensibly at least), and they're just showing us how much music occupies a staid and static, pretty fucking utilitarian position in their lives. They're not even aware of the idiotic normativity of what they're saying. Miserable? Just because its not a cheap thrill? Yeah...

  • that is fucking hardcore what thom did

  • .___.

  • if anyone can find the adress' for these shit-for-brains, narrow minded dick heads, i will glady brick their houses and shit on their car bonnets.

thom yorke is a genius, without a doubt

  • @rhcpfunkster Wow. Just because they have the opposite opinion of Radiohead that you have? Close-minded much?

  • @rhcpfunkster congratulations man!you are both a radiohead and red hot chili peppers fan.

  • I have "Meeting People Is Easy" on my profile, in full, plus a lot of other stuff, come and take a look ;).

  • You know whats really miserable? Justin Bieber.

  • gotta listen to something while i slit my wrists, and it sure isnt gonna be coldplay

  • God, poor guy he looks absolutely terrified.

  • That is suffering for your art right there! It's amazing because the more I find out about people the more I realise that no one wants to think of the bad things in life. Everyone ignores and denies that sometimes the are not happy! It's a new Georgian era where everyone wears a mask before they leave their homes!

  • douche bags

  • well her "analysis" is very simplistic, but you can't deny that it's a sad song. radiohead has a lot of very sad songs, and calling them sad isnt nescessarily a criticism...

  • Its the fact that she said 'music to cut your wrist too'. Plenty of people say radiohead are a sad band, but most fans have heard it all before, and it just makes her looks fucking ignorant

  • You're absolutely right!

    Music is about emotions...

And to deny sadness the state of an emotion is beyond stupidness!

Radiohead is melancholic! Yes it is! Not only, but mostly

But that's the great thing, that's what they do, and thei're doing it frickin' great!

    Yes sir!

  • Why so sad?

  • Yeah this is just mass media downing on something that isn't trendy like they want. The fact that it's real and has purpose and Ok Computer as well as Kid A both talk about things against consumerism and biotechnology, along with other things that may crumble or control society further. These people can't seem to understand truth but then again sheep have difficulty doing so...

  • the most ignorant conversation i've ever heard..plus who eats cake on a talk show while listening to Radiohead...

  • bloody idiots

  • "the most most miserable music ever heard" - translation = im a retard and i do not take time to fully appreciate good music. now excuse me im busy trying to become obese.

i guess she didn't understand at the time that radiohead are the most evolutionary and influencial bands that have ever lived.

oh and i really dont get why people say that they are overrated. -.- it took 2 weeks for them to become my fav band of all time LOL.

  • unfortunately that woman still works on sky news

  • when i became a radiohead fan back in 1997 i didn't know english very well. i could understand some of it, but because of thom's unclear enunciation i couldn't really understand most of the lyrics. i thought it was the happiest sounding tune i'd ever heard in my life. really, if you listen to just the music, it's actually a very upbeat happy tune. same goes for most of radiohead music. they have some truly dark sounding songs, but not that many really

  • cake woman you are a retard

  • the expression he has in the end is the one which says "enough is enough"... (i'm mad as hell and i'm not going to take this anymore).....

  • this is no surprises

  • just realise hes a complete liar, thom yorke doesnt drown

  • "Hmmph!, what an excellent time for cake and radiohead!"

  • Those presenters have probably since become obese from that cake and have retired. They must be depressed now.

  • Please shoot me, I'm depressed.

  • Most likely the reason why she hates the song so much is because it describes her life. Full of monotony and lack of surprises.

  • @Jeremy3711 her life = predictable

  • @Jeremy3711 absolutly right man ! shes a dumbass bitch who cant see the point of her own life so she makes fun of other successeful people who sing from the heart thumbs up to this

  • You clearly haven't lived.

  • people call reality miserable.

  • Haha stuffing her face full of cake! Good one!

  • I love this song. Harrowingly beautiful. Like a song someone could commit suicide to

  • If "No Surprises" is miserable, then what's Akon, Britney Spears Or Lady Gaga!?

I guess they haven't found a fitting word for those yet.

  • Ah, but this would have been around 97-98.

Lady Gaga was still in High school at that time. Besides, they only had a faint idea of the travesty that was about to befall the music industry like it has today.

  • I think she didn't mean the song is bad...and the context of the song is miserable... it's an compliment, no?

  • @Yorkehead

    shit

  • @Yorkehead

The word is shit. That's the word fitting for commercial cum guzzlers.

  • Those morning show people are too dumb fucking stupid to understand that the song (indeed, the entire album) is critiquing modern English society.

Ah well, they're paid to talk, not think.

  • Although it does kind of explains why they're such idiots, SKY always has been rhubbish.

  • It's only miserable to those who are miserable. Radiohead's music is like pesticide for vermin that walk this earth. It doesn't quite kill em, but it makes them squirm.

  • i would say Radiohead are beautiful, not depressing, there's a thing line between them, but a defining line at that

  • is miserable supposed to mean bad in british? kuz the mood of most of their songs is a tad miserable. But I do say that these guys are twats, also I don't see how radiohead could possibly be overrated even if everyone in the world constantly proclaimed their greatness they would still be underrated.

  • not really but the way THEY said it sounded like they took a dislike to it.

    Arsehole critics but great band

  • Comment removed

  • "The most miserable sounding tune ever" sounds like a compliment to me.

  • She can go fuck herself :)

  • Shes just afraid of being truly honest to herself and everyone else around her so she wont appear vulnerable just like the majority of people in general. When people won't cover themselves up with these petty false pretences, people will realise theres a lot more to life and just how special this song really is, long live radiohead!

  • so shes saying this is emo music? thats hilarious. because i've always seen Radiohead as the modern Beatles of our generation. stupid bitch.

  • i think its just AMAZING and i think you couldent do better so what if is a bit down but its still amazing

  • fuck that women like "music to cut your rist to" fucking dyke like i am a massive radiohead fan like and i admit that some of the music is depressing and i love that like just becasue she isnt inteligent enough to uderstand the lyrics and what the song is truley about. LOVE RADIOHEAD

  • No Surprises speeded up sounds AWESOME!

  • Well no surprises is easily the most depressing song ever. Its great, but I admit its miserable.

  • lol i can think of a dozen radiohead songs more depressive than no suprises just off the top of my head. but anyway depressing music can still be joyful and moving if its done right. only morons like that stupis woman dismiss music just because its depressing. radiohead are magnificent.

  • it aint really miserable. it reminds me of christmas for some reason. the same with morning bell/ amnesiac

  • She described it as "more music to cut your wrists to", so I'm thinking when she used the word miserable, she actually meant it. Y'know, sad, in despair, that kind of thing. I don't think she meant to use miserable in the context of shitty. That being said, she's still an uncultured twit who can't handle emotions that aren't bright yellow and coated with puppies. Music to slit your wrists to, fuck that. Nick drake offed himself listening to Bach's Brandenburg concerto, for christ's sake.

  • im thinking if thats music to cut her wrist to then someone should give her a razor blade pronto.

  • I'm sure her plastic surgery and condescension have backfired on her by now to the point she looks like an old raising with some peach paint on it, and a fake smile.

  • Hey, everyone should lay off this lady. Just because she doesn't have the IQ points necessary to enjoy Radiohead doesn't make her a bad person... Oh, wait, on second thought, it does. Carry on.

  • the only miserable music ive heard is the manufactured shit you hear on most radio.that makes me miserable.

  • A-FUCKING-MEN

  • I want to kill the woman and the stupid twat

  • stupid bitch, she knows fuck all

  • It's funny that No Surprises is one of the most upbeat sounding tracks on the album. It has a xylophone in it!

  • this is studid. radiohead rocks.

  • u should feel bad for breathing. why not do a thom yorke but for all eternity instead.

  • "Most miserable"..pff..It's the most beautiful sounding tune I've ever heard.

  • They are sooooo ignorant, her voice by itself sounds like a dying goat, but no, Radiohead comes out with the "most miserable sounding tune" how full of shit can you be? this is a total mockery of a great band, and these people are just some goddamn assholes.

  • I think these people have actually managed to raise the bar of ignorance. "Oh, we get to sit in our comfy chairs and eat fucking cake and say how much we dislike a sheerly brilliant song for being 'depressing' because everything always goes to plan in the world and we can't have a bloody song that connotes the opposite of that now, can we?". Radiohead captured the hearts and feelings of millions of people with one song. That cow managed to get her own hate club in under four fucking minutes.

  • this song means more and more to me as the older i get. that woman is just a media whore. and why are they eating.

  • fucking slat

    how she can say that

    she so ignorant

    bout music

  • "The most miserable sounding tune I've ever heard"

XD, this whore stupidity is hilarious

  • 1:13 oh my god! what an insensitive whore, thats absurd!!!!

  • The most miserable tune she's ever heard? Who is she? If she's a journalist then she shouldn't state her opinion this way. Besides, if she had turned on the radio she would have heard at least ten really miserable tunes per hour... I think this song is beautiful; ok, you can disagree, but to call it miserable... you must be an insensitive and presumptuous person. Go listen to your favourite artists (I don't even want to know who they are).

  • damn it,i just wanna fuck her brain.....CUNT

  • hey bitch you can suck my cock and choke to death.....Thome York Is a living God,you slut...so buzz off

  • CUNT.

  • omg

    people

    so ignorant

    that women in the video

    deserves to die

radiohead one of the best british bands of all times omfg

    im pissed off

  • I think that those people managed to define ignorant. Ignorant of that fact that there is pain in the world, or that everything doesn't go swimmingly one hundred percent of the time. Yeah, the song may be a little bit downbeat, but criticizing it for that is quite simply pathetic. Fucking hell, they wouldn't be able to make something even one hundredth as decent, even if they were to break free of their narrow minded, idiotic and utterly malformed view of the world. Idiots.

  • Poor quality programming from Sky? Fancy that!

  • Sad how people can't look outside their pathetic deteriorating box of a life.

  • miserable or not, its fucking brilliant and made them legends to be remembered forever

  • Choke on that cake you fucking bitch

  • lol that's why I love women, You can be doing the coolest stuff ever to impress them and they would be like, uhhh can we go to the mall??

  • Hey that's not it at all. Some women are like that, just like some guys would say "move over I want to watch sports center." Yes this woman is an ignorant bitch, but not all women are like her. Don't categorize all of us as shallow materialistic idiots.

  • make us you SKANK.

  • So eine blöde FOTZE!!!!I hope she got ill from this fuckin cake!STUPID BITCH!!

    And Thom-I love you:)

  • or shot.

  • This is, no doubt, one of the best Radiohead's refered videos I've ever seen... The last part, after the guy saying "How he does it? I've no idea", it's brilliant.

  • this woman is dumb, and ignorant.

but what pisses me off most is how the guy who says "i think they're all right." i bet that he likes radiohead but hes too fucking scared of how the other two will respond. fucking cunt.

  • I find your comment quite subjective, people have different taste in music, she was simply expressing her idea. You claimed that she is dumb and ignorant on what?

  • "drowns at the end"???

    "houdini"

    wtf is in those cakes??

  • Why are they eating cake? I could understand a breakfast food like a croissant or if it was a food special (which it doesn't look like it was) but why cake???

I find the fact that Radiohead included this video in their Meeting People is Easy a rather clever dig back at the pundits. Someone said the station where this was filmed, is the british equivalent of FOX News. Why does that not surprise me.

  • bunch of wankers

dont mind if its not their thing, but they were acting like compleate pricks if you ask me

  • fuck this woman!

    what a dumb cunt!

  • When Thom Yorke is mad....like after the zillionth shoot of this scene at the end where he gets water in his mouth....there's an intensity to his facial expression that would make flowers wilt.

Thank god he releases that ferocity through music as opposed to crime lol.

  • If these people enjoyed the same music i did, i'd have to reconsider my tastes.

  • Am I the only one that thinks having a talk show where you eat on camera is strange?

  • If Thom had drowned in that helmet, just imagine, the last thing he would have heard was his commical sped up singing!!!

  • "He drowns at the end"

    - NO he FUCKING doesn't!!!

  • Stupid bitch. She enjoys James Blunt.

  • tool

  • What the fuck is wrong with these people, I'm sure they have better news than to make fun of Radiohead, ONE OF THE BEST BANDS IN THE WORLD! Obviously these people have no good taste in music whatsoever, don't know what the fuck is wrong with these people. People who just talk shit about great music like that should be shot and pissed on. I'm sorry if I were a bit crazy there but I shouldn't have to here bull shit like that coming out of peoples mouthes!

  • This is so sad :(

  • Fucking muppets!! Talentless corporate shills.
