Being escorted is usually not a good thing.. it means that the plane probably has lost communication with the tower (military assuming worst case scenario = terrorist takeover) or something is fishy. If these pilots are instructed too, they can shot down the plane...

On the other side, if there is information that the craft will be under attack, or you have bored pilots (which shouldn't be in civil airspace anyways lol) then there will be jets escorting you.

@ blackaces100 That is not an AIM-7 on the wing tip, that is an AIM-120. How do I know this? Because I was in the Air Force for 23 years and I was the guy that loaded all the weapons on the aircraft, which included the F-16, F-15E,, A-10, and the F-111.

That is not really a good sign when u see F-16s outside your window...You only see that usually during a crisis situation and they can be given the orders to shoot the plane down if the plane is a threat to national security....
