I view this video as more than incredible. It's Out of this world Greatness. Pure Genius is this man Peter Gabriel. What an "ENTWINED ADRENALIN RUSH AT THE MOST HIGHEST LEVEL IN THE UNIVERSE"!!!!!!!!!!
'Tuesday Morning in September' is a two hour account of 9/11. It very well may be the only account of 9/11 that shows the day in chronological order. It has a beginning, a middle, and an end. Please "Like" our Facebook Page to keep updated about this 9/11 project:
I was there ,the first WOMAD festival at shepton mallet somerset, unfortunaley to much cider and smoking meant i saw the first two numbers and the encore, past out for the rest, lived to regret it ever since, but now i can see what i missed, oh the foolishness of youth
Wow...it's footage like this that makes Youtube an absolutely priceless sharing tool, I've loved Peter Gabriel for a long time, I have all the music and concert dvds but I'm not old enough to have experienced him like this. Thanks for posting and keeping this kind of stuff accessible for those of us who weren't actually around for it.
@bozboz777 I've experienced the Gabriel Genesis era through what's available here, it's a very distant second to living it but I missed out. I greatly appreciate Peter's artistic expression during his Genesis years and love a few of the songs, but to be perfectly honest I am much more into his solo career and Genesis with Phil Collins in the lead. Most of that 70's rock is kind of lost on me.
I was standing right in front of him - it was the first festival I ever went to & I was only 17. Wish the cameraman had just panned back a little :) Amazing gig though.
Was at the first womad PG supported by some chinese operatic singers and simple minds, unfortunatley do not remember too much of PG, too much somerset cider during the day, lived to regret it every since
I think that 82 was a real high point for Peter as the last two albums were amazing - WOMAD was a financial low point however. I am glad Peter got through this as he just grew and grew. Glad Genesis helped him out in October 82 as it was my first gig.
No one can touch Gabriel. I dare say not even Bowie BITD. Gabriel is a god - his voice, his presence, his command of the audience and the stage. His artistic vision. Every wanna be singer should have an extensive class on Gabriel's brilliance.
Pretty 'heady' stuff, for 1982... especially. More 'world music', (visuals included) than the version on the album. Leaves Paul Simon's 1885/86 attempts seem, at far as African incorporations into Western pop music, rather 2nd hand, (though Simon gets more credit/more creative cred.)
Wonder what his former Genesis 'lads' thought of THIS 'spectacle'? Can't imagine Tony Banks coming on stage with a set of musicians, or performance, such as this!
I don't agree with your comment about Paul Simon's music. Peter Gabriel, as much as I like him, does not own "primal" music. If you want to go back, Santana was really the first to bring this into rock.
Here's a man who just gets better with age. His songs are as good today as they have ever been. Haunting voice, spine tingling music and a very compassionate man. Superb, thankyou xXx
His voice just moves thru your body touching your soul, leaving ripples. His voice is amazing live... I love when he chants & "yodels" (for lack of a better word.)
..yes, I think there is a better word...but I know exactly what you mean. It's unusual to find an englishman so connected and comfortable with primal roots....not akin to his own.
eines der besten Scheiben von Peter

An early-ish version, but truly magnificent. Gabriel's music has the power to move mountains and this is a truly spell-binding performance and song.

@killprocessofficial Frank Zappa can, Gabriel is great, but as far as music, Zappa is probly the greatest composer to come out of the 20th century

my favorite part is:
Drawn across the plainland
To the place that is higher
Drawn into the circle
That dances round the fire
We spit into our hands
And breathe across the palms
Raising them up high
Help open to the sun

Still, all in all, it's Tony I prefer over Peter.

Killing Joke also did the primal thing as well. I know Santana did it before them. I was just throwin' it out there, eh?
