The smoking, the sex and the alcohol are just part of the times it takes place in. Collateral damage if you were. I personally think it adds to the charm.

Umm, actually I'm not a huge fan. I watched it a few times and its a good show. But I don't watch it all the time. As for weather I can laugh at myself. You should take a look at my you tube page I laugh at myself all the time. I'm an actor. This just seems a bit obvious for lack of a better term. The funniest part of it is "Lets smoke indoors" but overall its kind of flat the actors arn't committed to the joke you can kind of tell they think they're funny while they're telling it which is rule

there is actually no need for this kind of stereotypical characters in ad agencies, however the senior people in the agency try very hard to live upto such stereotypes forcefully. Advertising is a great place to be but only if you have good people around. There are way too many assholes in advertising both men and women and it is very difficult to find a job where you will not come across them.

A lot of easily offended fans of the show here. I think it sends it up quite well. The whole "It's toasted" thing was such a ridiculous way to try and sell cigarettes, and the show really goes out of its way to add in elements of sexism and smoking. Like a doctor that smokes right before a vaginal exam. COME ON. It wasn't that bad. I think the show appeals to women with secretly submissive personalities. Or perhaps, makes them feel better about their lives.

@robotpanda77 , I think this is a very amusing parody. However, I think you don't get the show! It's a metaphor of not just how the 50's became the 60's, but how the 60's became "The Sixties". The whole thing is so carefully constructed it's remarkable. A lot of the random details in the show come from personal stories that people told the writers. BTW, "It's Toasted" WAS Lucky Strike's real advertising slogan for years, that's why they used it!

@robotpanda77 actually it's been noted how realistic the show portrays this period. Some say it was even more extreme at times. But of course it depends how you led your life. A good catholic person may not have seen what went on everywhere, and vice versa. Although the parody is funny, it doesn't sum of the show like you say. It's a blunt portrayal of america's transition to the sixties. It's a very deep show and stories are very long term, unlike traditional tv.

Of all the Mad Men parodies I've seen, this is head and shoulders above the rest. The players capture the "look" and vibe of each character brilliantly, not to mention the obsessions of the show (i.e. Don Draper's ENDLESS flashbacks). I can only imagine what kind of work went into this one minute of satire. Fantastaic stuff.
