Common problem with the 6.4's. 7.3's were great but its been almost a decade since one came out of the factory. I've owned them all and the Chevrolet Duramax really seems To have the edge on ford and dodge these days.
@The1997fordf150 Alright ill think again about Ford's, "wow you really take good care of them, Secondly you got lucky" Congratulations sounds like you got a good truck im happy for you
@DetroitDieselBob Yeah try searching for Ford Credit Bailout on google and then get back to me since your so delusional you don't believe anyone but yourself.
NO. Neither are valid and BTW Ford's financial arm received a bailout, so nobody can buy a brand new Ford while saying moronic things like Government Motors. Go join a Tea Party club and waste time protesting things you don't understand instead of working.

@DetroitDieselBob LMAO You will be pushing your Ford smart guy glad my family dont depend on your Ford truck. Typical Ford owner right there FINALLY you ppl have something bad to say about Chevy and Dodge LOL Congrats
Some would call that a problem. I call it a blessing. C'mon, who didn't want that to happen when they were a kid? Makes for the best S'mores ever. Or at least the best story of how you made them.
If you buy a new ford, fuck the law, fuck warranty, just take all the emissions shit off, put stacks on, and tune it. Change to synthetic oil in everything, marine fuel filter, and oil centrifuge. It will go a million miles, get 30mpg, and have more power then stock.
And get a 500gal tank and fill it with red diesel/agro/heating oil for $3/gal. Fuck the scum commie government.
@bmays002 I don't want to even THINK about gas prices right now....I got 87 octane (regular gas) and it was 3.79 a gallon, I almost shit myself when I saw that
Ford is doing a recall of a "man step" they installed it on the wrong end of the truck, for free of charge, your local dealer will reinstall/install your man step to the front of the truck to make it easier to work of your truck!
@MrACABOY74 Read up on your diesel engines. Cummins engines are hands down the best diesel engines made. There are plenty of unbiased websites that do support this. The information is out there all you have to do is look it up. I'm not flaming you but you really need to educate yourself on these engines instead of basing your opinion based on the fact that you are a fan of the blue oval.
@raz3rburnify- Cummins is a great motor from the 12 valve to the 24 valve. But I would have to say the International T444E (Powerstroke) are the best diesel engines out there. There are 2 million 7.3l Powerstrokes with over 250,000 miles on the road today making it the most reliable diesel engine out there. Thats more then GM/Chev,Dodge on the road combined! You will always have haters twards Ford but Ford is the best selling truck in the U.S.A. & in other countries.;)
@DeftonesFan867 - As I tell everybody look it up in fact google it. After they look it up they tend to shut up about it. And never get a reply back. ;)
@DeftonesFan867 -In 2000, Isuzu and GM started joint production of the first 6.6-liter Duramax V-8 diesel engines for GM's 2001 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra HD pickups. GM teamed with Isuzu to tap Isuzu's diesel engineering strengths to help GM become a major player in HD pickups. GM's earlier 6.2-liter and 6.5-liter diesel engines were widely considered to be noncompetitive versus Ford's Navistar-sourced Power Stroke and Chrysler's Cummins-built diesel engines.
@DeftonesFan867 -In 1994, the 7.3L was reborn. This groundbreaking new powerplant revolutionized the diesel truck industry, with not just the addition of an all-new turbocharger, Direct Injection (DI), and incredible new power, but the birth of the Power Stroke® name
@1219548tom Yeah....except the fact that the 7.3 posted in this video isn't the same motor AND the fact that Ford no longer uses the Navistar built powerplant.
@DeftonesFan867 I've been a Ford service tech for 15 years. The 7.3 powerstroke was used from 94.5 to 2003. The reason Ford stopped using them was because Navistar could not meet emission standards(by federal law)so they went on there own. And it is the same engine as the 94.5. But enough of your bullshit. I gotta work on Duramax with a no start problem. When it comes to chevy I got job security. ;)
@MrACABOY74 you are right. its funny how people support car brands when the went into bankruptcey back in 07 and 08 and ford was the only one that didnt file. FORD FUCKING ROCKS!
@TheStevieboy1128 Ford was in just as bad of shape as GM and Dodge. The only thing they did differently was mortgage everything they had minus the blue oval. That venture is very risky and can easily backfire and put you in more dire financial straits. Dodge and GM took a less risky way out of the shitter than ford and asked for a bailout. Each maker dealt with the recession differently.
Its kinda funny that even International outsources their engines to Cummins now, Ford should make a deal with Catterpillar for all their supperdutys not just the 650's now thatd be a sick truck. For those who dont know International Made the PowerStroke and then made it shitty after the 7.3
Crap! That means some of the fuel isn't being sparked in the engine; it enters in the exhaust and is somehow reigniting directly into the manifolds or converter. Unless, the hot-roded it out for you.
@batchnerd This is there own engine its fords second attempt at making a medium duty diesel the 6.0 failed then they decided to redesign and go to the 6.4 and you see the results from the vid how that went back to the drawing board.
@batchnerd Navistar had alot to do with those and they have navistar badges but tear one down and see all the ford stamped parts on them also. Freakin sucks when you gotta go to the ford place to buy parts everytime it comes time to replace crap that failed on those motors ive worked on a hand full in the past and hated every minute the 6.0s and there stupid internal oil leaking problems, egr, oilcooler, turbos, injectors, headgaskets, blahblahblah
@kmrjeep if you know anything about how ford operated then you should know that the engine was indeed designed and built by navistar. Ford simply had their name stamped into the parts(it's a ford thing). and btw The 6L in 06 was actually the most reliable diesel, and the most bang for the buck. The main problem was the fact that the engine was designed to be efficient at a highway rpm. Navistar tested the engine fully, but when ford got it they were forced to put emissions crap on it.
@kmrjeep That caused more carbon to be created at idle. this clogged up the EGR, then the turbo veins, this lead to over and under boosting situations, witch in time would cause a blown head gasket. solution simple don't baby it. This is actually one engine that will last longer if you drive it hard. about 2500-3500 rpm should do.
@lowwgan123 Cummins is a independent company but your part right, This engine was built by Navistar International Corporation. They not own any part of Cummins
@kmrjeep pick-ups are considered light duty. The only engine from the top 3 that can actually be put in a med. duty truck is the ISB Cummins (5.9/6.7)
@matthewwangel i call them medium duty because they put them in medium duty trucks but a slight correction on the top 3 goin in medium to light heavy duty trucks powerstrokes and duramax along with cummins have been used in medium duty chassis for years most popular was the t444e that international used (also known as the 7.3 powerstroke) They put those in everything from tow trucks to school busses

@astarplt350 The Duramax is a General Motors diesel engine family for light- and medium duty trucks, designed by General Motors. The 6.6-liter Duramax is produced by DMAX, a joint venture between GM and Isuzu in Moraine, Ohio. This engine was initially installed in 2001 model year Chevy and GMC trucks and has been an option since then in pickups, vans, and medium-duty trucks. In 2006, production at Moraine was reportedly limited to approximately 200,000 engines per year. What were you saying?
@TheMrwally66 Not to mention Gm's Cracked dash, A/C controls wearing off, Drive Shaft snapping at 20,000 miles, They are made cheaply. On the 07 models and up you can just snap off the side bumpers where the fog lights are. Built just like a rock that sits in my drive way. Now which one would you go for? Found On Road Dead where at least it made it on the road. Or Built like a rock that doesn't move?
@kugosFords You right... even thought the duramax holds the record for the most recalls in one year ... And lets not forget about the warping head issues when they first came out... or the 100 hr transmission failures... Or the bad injector cups..... I have both trucks... My ford has 250K miles and still runs awesome and the chevy is also an awesome truck.... The make of the truck doesn't matter... The driver who thinks its a good idea to use his truck as a flame thrower is the idiot here...
@MrDieseltwitch haha yeah well it least we stick with the sae dam engine and dont put 20 different engines in our trucks in the the last 12 years stick with one and build on it to make it better o wait ford couldnt make a good engine if they tried to i guess you have to build a new design every year.
@dohc1974 ok well tell me why ur name is dohc huh cuz chevy it to stupid to make a dohc at least ford can do it oh and tell me why the us ownes 61% of gm i think some people would agree that ford is better and gm blows
@thetechhousereveiw I tell you why my name is dohc, because my car is an import and has dual over head cams. a big % also voted for Obama, does that make them smart? No.
All of you idiots that think this is the result of a stuck open injector, its not. Its the DPF going into Regeneration, which means on the two rear cylinders, fuel is injected during the exhaust stroke, burning off the carbon built up in the DPF. Yes, the flame shooting out was not supposed to happen, but it was recalled and fixed.
we had a truck at work with this type of engine (i believe). it fried when it was a few months old. something along the lines of this engine with the burning off of the filter etc etc...not sure the techy reason as to why the engine cacked..Ford said it was excessive idling.
This is due to the diesel particulate filters on the newer 07 and up vehicles. Ford had an issue with theirs. The filter on these has to be 'burned' off every so often as to not clogg it up. It can be done during regular operation but if the computer determines it needs to be done at idle the computer intentionally adds additional fuel down the exhaust to heat up the dpf. This in turn burns off the existing particulate in the dpf. Ford obviously had some programming issues with this initial
Ford is doing all kinds of stupid things like motors that blow the spark plugs out of the head because theres on 3 threads holding them. Or spark plugs with long metal collars that break off in the head when you try to tune up the engine. My buddy owns an auto repair service. He says if it wasn't for Fords he would starve to death. That says it all!
@johnnyrocksable well you and ur friend are both idiots because diesels dont have spark plugs u fucking morons. glow plugs. make sure u know what ur talkin about before u go and try and shit on ford.........fucking prius owner

the injector isnt stuck open that is the flame that burnes in the exhaust to clean the dpf, its just set to high
MrShaunws 3 months ago

TheMrwally66 4 months ago
@TheMrwally66 Not to mention Gm's Cracked dash, A/C controls wearing off, Drive Shaft snapping at 20,000 miles, They are made cheaply. On the 07 models and up you can just snap off the side bumpers where the fog lights are. Built just like a rock that sits in my drive way. Now which one would you go for? Found On Road Dead where at least it made it on the road. Or Built like a rock that doesn't move?

@kugosFords chevys never do that because they are build right. and not piecesof shit that burn 7 gallons of gas in 10 minutes of idoling
HaRdReDnEcK7997 3 months ago
@kugosFords You right... even thought the duramax holds the record for the most recalls in one year ... And lets not forget about the warping head issues when they first came out... or the 100 hr transmission failures... Or the bad injector cups..... I have both trucks... My ford has 250K miles and still runs awesome and the chevy is also an awesome truck.... The make of the truck doesn't matter... The driver who thinks its a good idea to use his truck as a flame thrower is the idiot here...
MrDieseltwitch 3 months ago
@MrDieseltwitch haha yeah well it least we stick with the sae dam engine and dont put 20 different engines in our trucks in the the last 12 years stick with one and build on it to make it better o wait ford couldnt make a good engine if they tried to i guess you have to build a new design every year.
TheOrmanlandon 3 months ago
@kugosFords only fords are so badass they shoot out flames ;)

why would you recall something so cool
YamahaATVMudder 4 months ago
This has been flagged as spam show
All of you idiots that think this is the result of a stuck open injector, its not. Its the DPF going into Regeneration, which means on the two rear cylinders, fuel is injected during the exhaust stroke, burning off the carbon built up in the DPF. Yes, the flame shooting out was not supposed to happen, but it was recalled and fixed.

we had a truck at work with this type of engine (i believe). it fried when it was a few months old. something along the lines of this engine with the burning off of the filter etc etc...not sure the techy reason as to why the engine cacked..Ford said it was excessive idling.
bababooey7576 6 months ago

That says it all!
johnnyrocksable 7 months ago
