  • and then we went back to this, cuz it doesnt fuck up ur eyes and its actually made to be an ereader, not to mention weeks of battery life

  • Reading a book/ reading e-ink OR staring at a computer screen, I mean an iPad, for 10 hours?

  • fail

  • Even though these to objects are completely different things, I'm glad the comparison exists! I think having a lot of apple devices that the iPad is not superior in reading book long periods of time to the e-book, but since the ebook is designed be ONLY for reading and the iPad by all means is not...either way, thanks :)

  • if you value your eyes, don't read on screens lit, read books with eBooks with e-ink

  • @albert5555 Exactly.

  • reading on the iPad causes "iPain"

  • to be honoust, when i go to hiliday or something and i want to take something i can read with me i never go: oh no!!! now i have to take 2 books with me oh my god it takes so much space in and there are no batteries in it! why?! I HAVE to buy an e-reader!

  • These e-readers suck out part of the joy of reading a physical book. There's something special about nesting a book in your hands, especially if it's a really good one. It's part of the fun!

  • see my<<<< .youtube.com/watch?v=nPYYkHOyfEQ

  • why is this almost a nine minute video?

  • What's next? How the ipad 2 igun app is better than real guns?

  • the best e-reader is one which isn't: a book.

  • i didn't follow this video, i was distracted by the fake surroundings, buy a real window plz

  • Umm

    IPAD = TABLET

    KINDLE = EREADER

TWO DIFFERENT DEVICES THAT DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH EACH OTHER

  • Why are you comparing a toaster to a microwave? I don't see the point. The Ipad is not made for reading but for playing Apps, surfing and just overall feeling snobby.

  • Its Not an e-reader its a tablet pc

  • hahaha your funny you said AM 102 TIMES HEHEHEEHEHE

  • @StephanieLisaTara I am 12 and I recently (with my OWN money) purchased a kindle e-ink ereader and my intention for this device was everyone elses, get most of the paperback experience, without the hassle of wasting time and effort lugging it around, every where, going to the bookstore to get it, and paying additional money to BUY the book alone, I would not reccomend giving us kids an Ipad if you want them to read your book thatbyou have written, I would get them a $79 kindle, no distraction =)

  • If you dim down the lights on the iPad when reading, and change the background of your e-books (say, sepia on iBooks, or parchment on Stanza) it's actually pretty comfortable to read on it. Can't say the same for PDF documents, though. But with the apps available for PDF reading (I'm thinking iAnnotate), a short amount of time spent reading an academic document will be time well spent. Productive academic reading, and comfy beach reads as well :)

  • You look like an librarian bro :) Cheers

  • That was a pretty obvious conclusion to the video.

  • uhm I dont want to be a dick dick but why would you read on een iapad its made for much more other things then stupid reading

  • @TommieJWZ See how far you get in life without 'stupid reading' you child

  • iPad i Objet for robot people

  • if youre a fag buy apple

  • For me I only have to hear that the Ipad is an LCD screen and then I'll write it off as an ereader.

I'm looking at getting an ereader but if I'm honest its hard to trump a book. I'm researching all the other benefits of an ereader such as cheaper books, ebooks, access to books. Dam I just sold it to myself.

  • Bought a Kindle...loved it

Still have my book Books. But Kindle is AMAZING still. Plus i save a shit load on books.

  • in answer to brandonX93 ... because some people like myself who travels a lot and reads a lot needs something to primarily read with but can't live without a laptops basic requirements like google being close by. That doesn't sound stupid to me.

  • Reading: Original Book vs Apple iPad

    Winner: Original Book

    iPad Price: Fucking Expensive

    Original Book Price: Fucking Cheap

    Who The FUCK Reads e-books

  • @AkizellaProduction Well, I actually live in Belgium and ordering real books online costs a ton of money, and I have to wait for them for about 6 weeks... I wanted to buy an e-reader to be able to read english books, but now I found out that the Nook-app for ipad doesn't work outside the US... so I guess I'm back to the start :P I agree, though, nothing beats real books

  • Typically, people who enjoy reading enough to get an eReader have enough patience to wait the extra 0.5 seconds for the screen to load. So it's not really a con, just my opinion though, I'm sure there are plenty of people who disagree.

  • 10 hours on iPad, 10 days on Nook, "You get ten times more battery power"

Thumbs up for basic mathematics fail...

  • @grujcyk 3 months on the Nook 2nd edition.

  • @grujcyk He said that he counts 10 hours of reading as one day... I don't think that '10 days' counts as 240 hours in this case, lol, no one leaves his Nook on for 10 whole days... so, not a fail, actually :P

  • @grujcyk

yes mathematics is a fancy word, but its pointless to write it when you say "math"

  • @grujcyk Thought i'd be a buzzkill and let you know he's saying if you do roughly 10 hours of reading every day for 10 days, you will have to charge the ipad every day and with the Nook you don't have to charge it over the entire 10 days. Basically you're getting 'ten times as much from the Nook' because you don't have to charge it over 10 days.

  • Is this a real man ? he looks like an e-man

  • Can anyone help? I'm looking for an e-reader and I dont have a f clue on which to buy.

I need at least 9.7" screen and the ability to install a dictionary that I have in windows.

Can I install a dictionary in any e-reader or I must buy a tablet?

  • Kindle is very, and I mean very limited don't buy it

  • I have sony reader to read!!!!and ipad 2 just to fuckin around....

Lcd`s ipad is terrible to read...............

  • I have both a Kindle and an iPad. Strictly for books and reading I buy all my books on Amazon and not iBooks. Portability was the reason. I can read my books on my phone, PC, iPad or eBook. On iBooks I'm limited. PDF files read much better on iPad. Kindle do PDF files badly. The texts are either to small or you don't see the whole sentence. Good video.

  • You'd have to be stupid to buy an iPad JUST to read virtual books, why even make a video comparing these two devices?

I mean, that's like comparing the iPad 2's camera feature with an actual camera?

  • @BrandonX93 lol good analogy.

  • @BrandonX93 the topic is Is Apple's iPad the Ultimate e-Reader? not Is ipad the best overall device. Typical isheeps

  • @mooseolly

Considering the fact I don't support any iDevices nor do I own any, I could careless of the support of the iProduct line.

I didn't post that comment in defense of any of the two devices, and the fact that you'd assume that and call me a "isheep" in the process is pretty debilitating.

My statement and the 7 likes on it stands clear enough - against the creation of this video.

Reread my comment, I didn't come to claim that the iPad is the "best overall device" or anything relating.

  • You better be reading in a room without windows. If you take it outside in the sun, you can't read shit.

  • So with the iPad your eyeballs burst out after a few hours of reading... so what? You look great while you do it and that is all that matters.

  • The Ipad isn't a replacement for a book, or an evolution of the E-Reader, it's jsut a tablet computer made by apple....

  • Using an Ipad for book reading means not loving our eyes

  • Ipad was designed as a tablet...not for e-ink...people are using it for reading....Kindle is awesome....

  • but will it blend....

  • 8:08 apples and oranges lol

  • I'm Pretty sure at 8:17: he said "very focused 'nitch' device" when I think the word he was looking for was "Niche" [nee-sh]... Auto-cue, fail!

  • @LucifersTear Both pronunciations are accceptable, and are listed in the OED.

  • OK he said that 10 hours of reading is 10 times less than 10 days. Do you fkn know a day has 24 hour? And if we consider like you said 10 hours a day, than multiply the fkn nook too. Apple is shitty. For ebook readers go for something with linux. Linux's features are always free. And you can download jome the fkn books, it's hard to immagine that you can read in a weekend at country-side (where suppose you can't access internet) more than you can download in 10 mins from your home.

  • Don't let an american give you advices. You'll end up either fat or dumb.

  • @DoiMango Lick my balls, hater.

  • @DoiMango advices....who's dumb... read a grammar book before commenting next time....lol

  • should I wear an old sweater, glasses and a mop of hair to sound credible when talking about e-books

  • If you are going to compare e-readers, the Kindle is king, the nook is ok, but I think if he had pulled out the Kindle the review would have been a lot different.

  • Kindle was made to a true lover of books. If you want provoke the envy to your friends: Buy a iPad. Don´t forget to buy tons of aspirins for headache after reading a iPad e-book.

  • @verdadeiromarcotron Too true, I like my ipad for what it does like listen to music or watch movies, but for reading its the Kindle for the win!

  • @leibnizm You lost the opportunity to provide credible feedback to consumers by making your post immature and deragatory. Critque that is precise and without emotion getting out of hand is what most of us want.

  • Hi checkout this stand. It morphs. Stop by my channel.

    Cheers

  • I prefer paper books!!

  • thnks man!

  • Very informative and a great comparison of the 2 products. Thanks :)

  • Great video. The content, review, and information is well constructed. I've been considering purchasing an eBook for some time now. I've just been using iPhone apps to read.

  • just buy a real book god dammit!

  • @timeyouexist good point:)

  • okay so there is a new nook color out.. its basically a tablet. I do admit, the nook color seems cool. But to me, it seems like the N.C. is leaning more to the tablet side of things then an eReader. It doesnt even have eInk. :(

  • i honestly dont like eink i thinks its hard to read and would like it alot better in color and really bright

  • Why not just get a book lol

  • @xkillswitchx23 because it is a book, the kindle/nook are digital libraries

  • The reason Eink displays exist is because reading on a bright LCD display is SHIT

  • This dude is obviously paid by Steve Jobs and Co. for eink bashing and Apple GLorification. What the Bulky ipad does sleeker Nook Color and Galaxy Tab can do better

  • This dude is obviously paid by Steve Jobs and Co. for eink bashing and Apple GLorification. What the Bulky ipad does sleeker Nook Color and Galaxy Tab can do better

  • @anantcandy Yes, obviously. His gear in the background alone gives him away as a total fanboy

  • answer: NO

  • 6:15 "iPad - 10 h; Nook - 10 days... u get 10 times much from the nook"... he fail so much at maths. 10 days = 240 Hours (not 100).

  • @mam16cm No one reads for 24 hours straight! Even 10 hours are too much for the average reader. His math ain't that far off...

  • laptop giveaway /watch?v=IZe_-JdbruU

  • Its not an e-book reader it's a tablet app runner ( i wont call it a computer sorry apple)

  • i would like a ebook reader like device that includes note taking with pen thingy. eink is a must sd card pllease. wifi?

  • now we have a white one! And it you can view email and play angry birds faster now!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Many people have told me that the iPad's display is not that great to sit and look at for a prolonged period of time....

  • @ZantorAmar yeah it really strains my eyes, but if your reading a magazine especially national geographic then it isnt as bad

  • I came across this video because I was researching everything I could about the iPad2, before making a purchase. Then, I started researching and comparing several different e-Readers. After all that, I think I might purchase a Kindle... I think.

  • as far as youtube reviews go, that had to be one of the most comprehensive and well-thought-out reviews I've seen.

  • The Amazon Kindle is the best contender in regards to reading...

  • reading from an iphone or ipad is like looking into a flashlight for a long period of time, e-ink is great and super energy efficient! It is a good way to consolidate your reading materials!

  • reading from an iphone or ipad is like looking into a flashlight for a long period of time, e-ink is great and super energy efficient!

  • I think the iPad is a piece of monstrocity to be honest. And it would really ruin your eyes if you are to be reading for long periods of times on it. I have the Amazon Kindle and its perfect, does what I need it to do.

  • what's the battery life on that book thingie?

  • thumbs up if you still read normal books -.-

  • @TEVOanimations lol @ 4 likes in 3 months for those who still read normal books. God help our society.

  • @TEVOanimations Lolololol only 4 nerds read REAL books... sop living under rocks! -.-

  • @TEVOanimations An ebook is a real book, without destroying trees for paper. ^_~ You should not be snob about reading on paper. That said, I do agree that having a paperback or hardcover is nice and I always end up buying a more 'physical' version of a book if I really enjoyed the story.

  • @TEVOanimations yep like a normal person, this guy swears ereaders replaced books, no normal person uses an ereader

  • @alexnzxVersion2 I guess I and a lot of people I know are not normal persons.

I have a very big personal library, but I also use a kindle, I don't see how that makes me different from a "normal" person

  • @TEVOanimations NOTHING REPLACES PAPER AND INK

  • Fast forward it to 2:51!! You need to work out if you get as weak as this guy..

  • great review. and for those below who are looking for an iPad for free, simply google something like: freegiveawaysonline.info

My 17 years old daughter just received one not long ago and I couldn't believe my eyes. Can't remember the address...

  • I love reading on my ipad1 I mostly I read pdfs.

  • if wish i lived in america. The iProducts are a lot cheaper there than where i leave

  • 10 days quite a bit more??? lol thats like 96% more efficient

  • Sony PRS is much much better than the nook... and it's full touch sensitive!! ... so compare that to ipad.

  • IT'S INK!

    IT'S UNREAL INK!

    IT'S E INK!!!!111ELEVEN!!!

  • @fischtyp Good man.

  • how can some one what to read book on a ipad like this you fucking asshol

  • pause at 0:15

  • If you are interested JUST for reading books then eInk is your choice, i have a Kindle at the moment and i can say with certainty that it's the best purchase i have made in a long, long time. The display is like paper and i am not exaggerating here.

  • this guy must get all the girls

  • Kindle's eink screen is much faster. Overall, looks to be the best ereader out there. that iPad is horrendous....

  • wow the eink looks like a real book

  • ipad terrible on eyes

  • 10 days of battery life versus 8 hours ...

e-ink display is perfectly visible in the sunlight, iPad is not....

    e-ink reader is cheaper.....

... :-) well, e-ink has some big advantages

  • I HATE EREADERS WITH A PASSION.

  • Very balanced and clear review. Why can't all reviews be like this ?

  • or you could just buy a book and you don't have to worry about any thing

  • @e1i5l8 Yeah, but now people like to waste money on products just because there is a half eaten apple on the back of it! HAHAHA :)

  • I am getting sick AND tired of people comparing e-readers to tablet computers. Just because the two products look similar to each DOES NOT mean that they should be compared to each other. That's like listing the pros and cons of a pen to those of a stove. Kudos to the reviewer. No bias at all.

  • @infoherper Next review: Letter openers vs. Machetes!

  • 1:35 voice crack

  • the next genertaion students will use ipads for books

  • @Anceszable I doubt it, unless they want serious eye strain from hours of reading an lcd screen.

  • You can't compare an ebook reader with a tablet computer.

  • Be honest

If u really like someone right now,

or can't get them out of your head,

Then copy and paste this on 10 vids within 5 minutes,

    And whoever you are missing,

    Will surprise you tomorow

  • 10 days is 24 times longer than 10 hours, not 10 times longer.

  • APPLES and oranges.... get it?

  • i cant decide should i get a ereader!!????

  • kindle

  • i like the nooks eink better

  • as much as i like apple... the eInk reader is much more advanced than the iPad cuz it's eInk O_o

  • @bodyboarder3452 what?

  • @yos2100 hiii :)

  • love e readers

  • Give me a break, any device that doesn't have e-ink is a total crap as a reader.

  • @drkarnov i agree i have a kindle and it does read better then the ipad

  • Its no secret to anyone that americans don't like books. That's why the iPad is such a success, they don't use it to read anything.

  • great comparison for anyone, especially those who have husbands who want to run out and buy every single new digital gadget! hehe.

  • @nikhil7337 Like Reading glasses that could be cool :D

  • Excellent review... you should review some more products.

  • I liked the review a lot. Good job!

  • I didn't read a book!

  • why read when you can watch it in a movie or be it in a game

  • @ImSuchaGamer have you ever read a book, where the movie is available?

I don't think so, 'cause the books are often a lot better :D

  • turn down the brightness level on the apple ipad.... discomfort level shrinked.

  • $259 for a nook/kindle/ereader and $499 for an ipad...I don't think so. More like $190 max for a kindle/nook/ereader
