I was at this show. My junior year at Tulane. To this day, one of the very best, if not the best, concert I ever attended. I recall they turned on the houselights and no one would leave. One of his first concerts in the South I think. A good friend worked security for concerts at Widener College outside of Philadelphia and had written to me telling me if I ever got a chance to see this Springsteen guy to go. Thanks, Bill! An amazing show!!!!
I was there; had just turned 16, & begged my dad to drive my brother & I 2 see this guy Bruce Brookshine or Brooksheen or something like that, I didn't know. I just heard his new song, Born to Run on my transistor radio & it grabbed my soul; it did something to me, I can't explain. So my brother & I went & screamed our heads off. He was about 12! The next day, the WRNO DJs played softball against the E-Street Band at Audobon Park! Can you imagine?
So my boyfriend had no choice - he drove me there & I watched the game from behind the backstop. Afterwards, I collected autographs from Bruce, Roy and Clarence. I still have them. Now, Clarence had a football jersey on # 69. Rest in peace Mr. Clemons. Your saxophone music was amazing; just gorgeous! What a sweet memory I'll never forget. MGC, Metairie, LA
@LordDeliverUs Thanks so much for sharing these memories with us! You're so lucky that you've seen them back then......I "met" Clarence in Dublin 2 years ago and I got his autograph - he was so nice, friendly and modest.....He will be missed sorely.....
