He still scored a 1000 points in the league. There aren't a whole lot of people who have done that. However, Isles fans are a little dillusional when it comes to Sneaky Pete's legacy. Even if Hunter didn't knock him down it is very questionable if he was ever going to evolve into a great player. Year after year, he pulled a disappearing act in the playoffs and 93 wouldn't have been any different. He's was still a special player but he was never going to be one of the greats.
@dome1972 The points production drop-off after the injury speaks louder than your uneducated comment.
Besides, he is 1000x the player Kirk Muller ever was, which began the Islanders' infamous General Management bonehead moves all throughout the 90s.
In retrospect, we should've hung on to LaFontaine, who as I understand wanted to stay on the Island, but the salary increase for a cheapskate organization like NYI was too much to ask.
The Islanders are the saddest franchise in all of sports.
Really? That's cool. We got the chance to meet him in December and he was a nice guy. We saw him last week too, but he didn't stop to sign anything, unfortunately.
He was my coach for a season, and let me tell you he's a great guy.
