  • not

  • nice air intake

  • were u flooring it?

  • I know I see you don't have an upgraded sprag, but is a VB upgrade and tranny cooler all I need to effectively run 300-350whp?

  • did you just slap on the turbo kit and did nothing to the engine, or you have to get some new parts to the block too in order to make it hold the psi the turbo boosting?

  • wow, who gives a shit if it's auto, this thing pulls. Love the sound too.

  • What's the point of going fast? ur still going through that street anyhow

  • @artbking1 to show what the car can do......thats the whole point of the video, idiot.

  • Were you running a thicker hg with that kind of boost pressure? Or diff internals?

  • i actually just bought a 01 is300 and im looking for a good site to get performance parts from.

i used to have a 98 VR6 GTI and would use ECS tuning so now im trying to find a place to do the same with the IS but so far i havent had much luck with anything that has as good of a variety for the IS as ECS had for the GTI

if you could toss me some info on any sites you used that would be great. also where did you find your LTuned parts?

  • @fnkmastadb is300 uses the same Engine as the supra so look in that direction, also alot of parts you'll see used are homebrew kits or hybrids

  • do these cars last long turboed and auto ?

  • im not a big fan of high speed. ima chicken. i will never go faster than 90 mph

  • plese let me know how much it cost to do all of this and please let me know who did it cuz i so wana turbo my is300

  • I think if my car sounded like that I would never get rid of it!

  • i wish i had streets liek that where im at

  • it just dont seem right to me.. i mean, automatic turbo? its cool then, its your car =)

i just want that PSH! every gear shift =)

  • @MrKaoVue Automatics are ideal for turbo setups b/c no loss in boost and the pshhh sound is the wastegate.

  • @T67GS300 pshh sound is the wastegate? Nice try bud, better luck next time.

  • @Triple88a Im not even going to engage in a argument with you. I dont think you know what a wastegate is. Do some research dude because that IS a WG. Dont let your ignorance overpower your intelligence.

    - Turbo 2JZ owner

  • @T67GS300 I am running DIY boost so i have plenty of research. Psh sound refers to the sound the bov or a dump valve makes. I assume you're talking about the gushing sound in the video?

  • Quick question bro, how accurate are the Stewart Warner boost and fuel pressure gauge?

  • This looks like some Minnesota backroads for sure. South Minnesota?

  • @EmX3Ed I was thinking the same thing, man! I'm from west of the Cities near Minnetonka.

  • @slaphead93 just to prove to people like you that is better for boost, any other questions?

  • automatic= no turbo lag

  • that is beast but manual would be abit better

  • fuckin SWEET. even wit an auto lol

  • ur ac still work?

  • @ditimedia93

Of course! nothing was changed with it.

  • @kaptain86 nd this is ur daily driver?

  • I didn't even know IS300's came in manual. I thought it was all auto. I could never find an manual IS300. Only RHD altezza's

  • can i get the same results with an 05 is300

  • @deptofmisc

yep. ww .my.is - go faster forum - new to Forced Induction thread

  • @kaptain86 what turbo did you have? i really appreciate your help! i wanna turbo my car bad....

  • @DontMessWithTexas45

    my.is/forums/f90/kaptain86s-proefi-na-t-update-post-1-6-29-10-a-293673/

    Should answer your questions :)

  • @deptofmisc you will most likley get better results, lets just hope you do yours in a 6-speed

  • what kind of gauges are those on the dash?

  • @goodkid4355

autometer boost, autometer fuel psi, and it was an aem wideband.

  • it sounds nice man, sounds like supra probably because of 2jz engine

  • nice car by the way lovin the sound on that turbo

  • hey i got aquestion its about both automatic and manual.. in ur opninion wat u think sounds nicer with an hks exhaust???? just an opnion thanxx dude

  • auto is actually better for straight lines. no lag on shifting compared to manual, unless the manual has anti-lag

  • ILLINOIS! me too

  • is this ur daily? and good for u on the comment killer

  • first i must say the car seems fast. congrats on that. however, that bit of unnecessary text in the beginning about you not caring that it's auto was well.....unnecessary. if you really didn't care you wouldn't have to express it. that statement was almost the same as saying "yea i know it's auto....kinda sucks but *here comes the excuse* i don't have to work as hard driving the car". Nothing against you. just next time if you really don't care, then you don't have to mention it.

  • LOVE the cars can't stop saying it!!!!

    I had an IS200 :p

  • @torfsstijn what ever happended to it????

  • @bama23

Without joking. It was my first car (it was always dream for me as, since they came out) I had it 3 days and i crashed it at a lamppost :s I had big dreams with it, I wanted to fit an kompressor, other rims, etc.

Now we are a couple of years further, I never crashed again.

I was a poor driver back then, and I couldn't handle the car on a wet surface :s

These days I can drift with it pretty good, but the 2liter model is really slow original..

No turning back to the future :(

  • @torfsstijn why is it always a lamp post lol

  • @sgntslaugh73r

    Indeed :D

  • Dude were do you do all this at i wana go there i dident see another car on the road and it looks like a fun road to really go fast haha

  • people don't know that auto in the is300 is faster. I have owned both and know people who have em still.

  • Up state new york?

  • @mikewilbs

    No, it is in Illinois.

  • at this point, is it running fine, no problems? how many miles since you had the turbo? have exact car as you. how much did it run you to get the car to this point?

  • Wow, nice IS300. I had to use an engine from a junked one to build my last Supra. Which was automatic. Gotta love autos, you can cruise around the city without all the footwork. +1

  • whats wrong with auto? every car these days are auto. manual cars are fading

  • auto is faster cause it never lose boost.

  • @phatdrifter something tells me you don't know much about transmissions...

  • @jackertheman77

i had a supra t67 auto smoking others like its nothing about to put in the TH400 well maybe a TT tranny.

  • the problem to be automatic is not a speed problem.. but the drivetrain loss is bigger with a auto tranny .. still nice anyway

  • do you have a BOV installed?

  • Nice ride bro! Like the song too!

  • This is interesting... I have a 01 is300 auto.... of course and i always wanted to turbo my IS for that extra power. Just some quick qeustions.

1.Do you ever use your tiptronic to shift?

2.Do you ever shift using L-2-3-Tiptronic-D

    3. When your rolling on the highway, do you just gun it to race someone? or do you downshift with tiptronic so you can spool better?

  • yo man thats sweeett im thinking of getting an is300 are they good for racing?

  • Absolutely beautiful, I'm glad you have an automatic, they're just as fun to drive. Plus, they keep their boost when it shifts, no waiting for it to spool back up each gear.

  • Automatics are for people who rock!

  • great comment! The important thinkg is that is a lexus....

  • crazy bad ass car!! no lague turbo because of the transmission automatic: I love it! sucker! damm!

  • No blowing off and wasting boost between shifts.

    Automatic: 1

    Manual: 0

But.... manual is still better lol.

  • nice...sounds like it was done right...im looking into is3 cuz of the 2jz backround....i herd the ge motors are pritty expensave to turbo...how much did she run you to do and how much of the work have you done if n e at all? if i do end up making the invstment im not sure if i should just do the full 2jz-gte swap or just turbo the ge..but from what i understand they are both on the pricy side

  • For 7k I'd get an Aristo motor and R154 and use the stock ecu while saving massive loads of cash. Power delivery is superior as well. Similar horsepower. Nice boost job though. 7k is alot for only 382hp. But as long as you are happy with it that's great.

  • Dam with the music, and the car, and the way the camera is positioned. i feel like i'm in a real need for speed video clip xD this is awesome! i got the GS300. same 2jzge motor, non turbo. But that bitch bucks xD

  • what was your top speed and what size is your turbo

  • turbo and auto for the win!!!

  • that car more than makes up for the auto with its awesomeness, awesomeness overrides all else, siiiiccckkk

  • You know because it's an automatic you don't lose boost every time you shift, so it's probably faster as an automatic anyway.

  • does the boost cover up the vvt, or do they work together? i obvesly dont know anyting about 2js

  • my brother has a lexus 300, non turbo, but his has the triptotronic tranny on it, this one doesnt??

  • @shockeyshock

it does have one look at where his thumb is thats where the shifter button is in the steering wheel

  • I have a 2001 IS Ive been thinking about upgrading. Its also an Auto. I wanted a manual but they didnt make very many manuals so they are too hard to find (still in good shape).. Id be happy with a well performing auto IS.. Kinda like a sleeper around town..Im not trying to go racing, just enjoy a well built car.

  • For the same price I would have a used Aristo motor with VVTi and use the stock ecu. You have dont a fantastic job on that IS. Those with manual trannies such as myself should recognize the stock auto tranny is heartier than the manual tranny IS300, which usually necessitates a swap and extra cash for the manual tranny you would really want.

  • Im pretty sure that car is shifting faster than most ppl would be able too with their manuals

  • sounds like u have a screamerpipe?

  • i prefer auto too. u dont have to work as hard to drive it. lol im just to lazy to constantly shift up and down XD

  • Very nice car. I just don't understand why you prefer auto. But it's ok.

  • Soo was ur vb upgrade the toyomoto one or did u had srt or pfs work on ur vb? Oh lastly i need help on the gauges setup u have, that 3 pod is from the sti right? what size and are those aem gauges?

    Thanks

  • black betty :DDD

  • this is one bad ass auto turbo is300 props to your build man.

my dream car but i want a stick [; lols.

  • i heard is300 manual is messed up. thats why there are a lot more auto is300s on the streets

  • lol I have to admit that I like to drive stick every once in a while but I prefer to drive auto daily. and true autos are typically faster especially when they're build for speed (ie ferrari, GT-R, etc) how does the factory auto handle the extra power? had any trouble or premature stress on it or the rear end? I've got an 04 is300 that i'd love to get 340 out of. thanks for the help

  • yea can automatic tuned the gear to shift faster... because automatic always pull the gear longer.. thn our car like can go faster than manual

  • 02DodgeRam1500: Double clutch mate haha either that or learn to flap them flippers a bit quicker!

I do say though.. I'm not sure if its the same in the states. But back home Downunder, the IS tranny won't manually shift into first. Which proves to be a prick off the line, because you can't snap first into second and get the revs where you want them.

Bottom line is: An auto is ace to run up the quarter. As long as you have a high stall and a good shift kit to get the boost you deserve.

  • all these stupid people that think manual is soo amazing are the one that always miss 3rd gear so i mean is really more of a jealous issue since we have not much room for error with an automatic.

  • ......

  • .....

  • sick!! how come no one put turbo on IS250= =

  • Like the video I have an 03 auto that I'm getting a custom turbo kit built for. I was curious how the auto's sound and I love it! Please post more vids, maybe some with you using the E-Shift.

  • bad ass, go eat some bmw's for lunch

  • wow mad props it sounds good and yeah SICK AUTO IS...badass video i just ordered my turbo kit today...what are you running for engine management???

  • props to you on a baddass auto IS!

just picked up an 03 auto IS300 today:)

  • great car. i have an 04 is automatic i want to turbo how do you go about doing this. did you do it yourself or get shop or someone to do? steps and pricing please help please!

  • is that a stock tranny with that turbo? if it's stock, does it cause you any problems so far?

  • @seanyp2206

It is the stock automatic with a valve body upgrade and transmission cooler.

  • how much did that all cost you? Turbo + transmission upgrades?

  • @kaptain86 just wondering are u having any transmission problems yet"?i wanna turbo my IS but am scared of messing up the automatic transmission.

  • @DontMessWithTexas45

No problems yet, been boosted for around 30,000 miles I think.

  • @kaptain86 how much horsepower was added?

  • @DontMessWithTexas45

Stock Auto HP is around 180ish to the wheels, the car put down 373 at 12 psi, probably around 350ish at 10 psi daily.

  • @kaptain86 was this your daily car?

  • @DontMessWithTexas45

It was my daily car until late 2009. I drive it every week still, not as often though.

  • btw auto is quicker down the 1/4 mile

  • Nice bro! Car looks like she's running great and real strong :D

  • the cool thing about the IS is that even when auto you can still pick your gear in the corners, which is mainly where manual cars own. Oh btw the auto will shift much faster too....so really the manual vs auto argument is unfounded. nice work sir

  • is it stock engine and tranny like no supra swap?

  • @alienboy366

it is the 2jz-ge motor that came in the car, no swap.

  • That thing sounds Fucking AWESOME! Regardless if it's auto or not!

  • sounds awesome man! Love boosted inline 6's soo much.

  • a automatic is faster on highway anyways although you cant drag out the gears who cares my car is auto and is still decently fast i got problems with mine though

  • who gives if a shit if its auto, shits sick dude, anything boosted is fun, good job

  • amen to that. Plus it builds boost between gears...something manuals can't do unless you somehow brake boost at speed.

  • Hey man, I really like how you're modding with the automatic tranny. At least you can keep your boost up between shifts, unlike the manual trannys.

  • hey im planning to turbo mines,,, whats the first thing i should take to consideration ,, what kit you have and wat the price

  • my class mate hada same is300 and he got into a 2jz engine. Its sounds like this but he got blow off valves wich make the sound complete;) but its expensive work too congrat for the vid. nice one;)

  • too bed its an automatic lol just kidding love it its nice sounds good too

  • sweet : P

  • The video description is so negative lmao.

    the car is awesome though.

  • so im curious you did a valve body up grade im new to the is300 i am a big supra guy (kinda obviously) but i am looking for a dd with an auto i was thinking supra then im like no i want 4 doors so the is300 would work perfict im just curious how hard is the vb upgrade and what exactly does it do im also new to auto trans i have owned 1 out of 11 cars so please help let me know thanks for the advice and i think it is sick that the auto holds up to the hp and torque of a turbo motor

  • I did the mild valve body upgrade that consists of adding 3 pins to the portion of the trans that controls the shifts. Basically it allows the car to shift faster. I also added a trans cooler to help keep temps down. The install itself is not too bad, just needs two people and some mechanical skills.

  • I just add a screw to every accumulator of the tranny to shift faster like your car except the 4th gear, i'll goig to call you to show you the new vid.

  • @trdnismoguy I shure would like to see what that supra runnin next to a 2010 zr1 vette. sounds like the both u two are playin hair dryiers! LOL!

  • hmmmsounds like just an open cone filter....well maybe thats just me...

  • Sounds great.

  • this car sounds amazing with automatic trans

  • how much did it cost to get it like this?..really nice car

  • Wasn't cheap, a 2jz platform is a lot more expensive than a domestic platform.

Ford and Chevy (and other domestics) can make a lot of power for cheap.

  • auto is is stronger, the 5spd the comes with the is is the w55 which is a very weak trans

  • But isn't the automatic better??? Because there's no turbo lag between gears.

  • when ur reving can u hear the blow off valve since its automatic?

  • You don't hear the BOV when revving, you hear it when you let off the throttle just like a manual car.

  • ur an idiot and obviously have not rode in a nice forced induction vehicle. That is the sound of induction or if ur that retarted its the sound of intake.

  • Out of curiosity.. do you still have this car.. and how is the tranny holding up if its still boosted?

  • Still have the car and the trans is holding up fine with the VB upgrade and trans cooler.

  • please refrain from posting about things u dont know. Unless u have own an IS300 than u woudnt be aware that the w58 manual tranny is junk, which will have to be swapped to a r154 or v160 in order to handle the power curve of a turbo setup.

  • wrong. im using a w58 on my turbo supra with 350+ WHP...

  • i am srry i meant w55 (Stock Is300 manual) the w58 is the soarers trany which does hold up....

  • @ovariesniper

W58 is crap, I had it in my NA-T Supra and it blew on 450BHP . Every NA-T Supra owner's weak point was usually the W58 tranny, they'd either upgrade to the R154 or V160. Keep in mind that 450HP for a Supra is almost nothing and I'm a new IS300 owner, so my scaling is a bit off lol.

  • Yeah dont think the R154 is the solution either lol, theres people on their 3rd r154 tranny, i think is just luck when dealing with old tranies. Theres actually something interesting happening the tranny off a saturn Sky seems to be an exact match like the r154 and is said to handle mad power so some people are testing it, since is new technology who knows it may be the best route yet. Just curious you are running a VB upgrade and a trans cooler right? with that the auto can handle like 430+

  • lol probably a rotary.. what a tool.

  • thats what i was thinking lol

  • dont compare rotary to piston

  • i take it you own a rx7 look on youtube for the is300 turbo vs the rx7.

  • hey man where did u get those gauges?

  • I own a '01 SBM... First american version inline 6 125k miles goin' strong the only problem would be the water pump that had replaced at 70k... other than that minor wear and tear... so my opinion on this car is reliability = excellent. Now it's another story if ur a moron and u mess wit it...

  • how is your tranny holding up pushing 385? I'm gonna guess that you'd already done a vb upgrade and tranny cooler? Have you done anything else?

  • I run around daily at 9 psi not the 12 psi that it dynoed the 385 at. I do have a vb upgrade and trans cooler though.

  • whats that for a anoying noice when he gives speed

  • that would be boost (turbo spooling up)....music to my ears.

  • Its actually an external wastegate.

  • I agree with you

  • Awesome...I want one...

  • is a lexus is300 a good first car?

  • yes

  • if you're not an idiot

  • so, no. Get a piece of shit you have to deal with when it breaks and then get an is300 after you've felt like a douche for being stupid a few times

  • i was wondering the same thing. does anyone know there reliability?

  • ProEFI standalone installed and tuned.

    Car made 385 rwhp @ 12 psi and 349 rwhp @ 8 psi.

  • car seems slow for having that much hp trees move awfully slow in the video when your passing them...

  • try passing the moon

  • jesus turbo spool = sex.

  • so u got an automatic transmission on the car with the turbo? how this work out for u? is it almost like a standard or a lil slower than the standard? i was lookin for a standard is300 so i can turbo it but wen i search all i see is automatic and im thinking of swap out the automatic for a standard... so how is the automatic turbo? thanks

  • What state are you in? Almost looks like Ohio.

I just moved up to the Adirondack Mountains in June. These roads are serious. Can't wait to get my car up here.

  • Central Illinois, sorry not Ohio :)

  • what is you setup, im looking at a Is300 but the base numbers are crappy

  • its an entry level kit with a 60-1mm turbo and running at 8 psi around 340ish rwhp.

  • the is300 is an old car, you have to compare to the cars of it's time... not based on whats new lol

  • Your right at least it has lots of potential, wasn't this model compared to the m3 4 door that was rated @ 248-250hp (i dont want to start no war jap vs euro please just asking)

  • no, not just the m3 it was going after the entry level cars from most makers but, if you want a good comparison compare to the 325i, M3 to me is a higher end car than the 325i although they have the same chasis... I have an is300 myself and personally that can only be described through driving it... i've owned many lexus befor this one and it doesn't feel like driving a boat if you know what i mean lol

  • the stock IS put down around 185 rwhp - crank was around 215 hp.
