Are you kidding me saying that Nicky didn't get touched by an Rutgers player? This is what upset me about some fans, there was CLEARLY take down of Nicky Anoike by Kia. I'm not here to argue about the clock, because there was obviously something wrong there, but to say that no Rutgers playuer touched Nicky, is total BS..
tenn and pat summitt always seem to get calls to help them out, example, vs baylor a few years back in the ncaa tourney, of course the refs paid baylor back the next year by helping them win it all...if not the refs, the time keeper can always help too.
All I know is Rutgers should be the #1 team in the nation. They beat UCONN and should have won against Tennessee, two of the top programs in women's college basketball history. The NCAA needs to take disciplinary action against these officials, but I know they won't.
I couldn't care less about women's college basketball...and even I think Rutgers got jammed! That was horrible. If this happened in mens b-ball, it would be the lead story for days.
whether you believe the wireless whistle argument or not, the fact still remains that the refs were from the big east and they had ultimate power in reviewing the call and the game clock. what did they decide? look at the score board...
Which is why they should be suspended and fined. I can't believe a group that stupid would be allowed to officiate a college basketball game. Even a child knows that there is no pause in time at 0.2 seconds. The refs were incompetent and do not deserve to still have a job.
i'm gonna throw my 2 cents in. somebody had to purposely stop that clock. that was to obvious. tennesse is a great team, but they needed some help from a clock operator last night. if the ncaa can't do something about that then they suck ass.
You're facing the #2 team in the nation with a chance to win and move up in the rankings. You wouldn't care? This is the kind of game that can take the wind out of a team's sails. I feel bad for Rutgers. They should have won.
in thompson-boling arena the clock cannot be stopped by a clock operator. it is wirelessly connected to the whistles of the officials and therefore can only be stopped when the whistle is blown by the official. don't blame the clock operators on this one; congratulate tennessee for a great game :)
Where do you get this whistle-operated shot clock garbage from? If the shot clock was operated by the ref's whistle, they'd have to blow it again to start it and they couldn't blow it more than once at a time or the clock would be starting and stopping and starting and stopping. Whistle-operated shot clock. Who ever heard of such a thing?
So, somehow, no news outlet knows this, even ESPN. No one has mentioned this, but somehow you seem to know something that no one else does. That's awesome!
I couldnt possibly care any less about womens basketball, but this was an injustice of ridiculous proportions. The clock operator purposely stopping the clock because they assumed a foul was going to be called... absolutely ridiculous and Rutgers should be awarded this victory easily.
What a cheap win for Tennessee. No way should they have gotten to shoot those free throws. The officials are complete idiots for letting this form of cheating happen and they should be suspended and fined for it. Any moron could see that the clock operator stopped the clock long before any whistle had blown. What a horrible way to end a great game. Thanks for screwing up, refs.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
first of all, it's GIRLS basketball, so no big deal.
but second, refs are flat out terrible, always have been always will be.

What I don't understand is how the refs can actually go over to the scorer's table and look at video, and STILL get this wrong!

ive been a fan of rutgers womens basketball for about 5 years
i was also the ball girl for them
seeing sometihng like that happen to rutgers is unexplainable
how can refs be that stupid to not see the clock studderd
it happend once again when rutgers imbounded the ball
the clock never went at .02 seconds
all the refs care about is the money, unfortunately
rutgers got ripped of
hopefully they will face them again during march madness
and rutgers will get the win they deserve

The question is how will Rutgers respond after this?
This is a test of their character. They still have the remainder of the season, and then the NCAA tourney....
True champions rebound from adversity.

Fortunately they have the tournament to prove they are the best team.
Unlike football.....

I agree break! Rutgers needs to be worried about basketball in the playoffs and not worry about what Imus or others say.

So they cheated too, obviously. This is THE most obvious cheating incident in NCAA history

Sports bodies NEVER blame or fix referee mistakes. It's disgusting.
Also, it just goes to show (AGAIN) the filth and corruption that fills the SEC.

the wireless whistle claim is not valid. this same arguement has already been discussed on ESPN and the likes... they came to this conclusion:
if this was how the clock was being controlled, why would the clock have started up again after the whistle stopped it? it wouldn't.
rutgers was robbed.
