So my phone work fine but every time I put on my lifeproof case, the water re-appears and last night I left it in white rice with no case or screen protector on and this morning it's still showing up. So how do I fix this?
After the rice didn't work for me rogers told me to try freezing the phone in a freezer so I did and then put it back in rice then after doing that it works perfectly now!!
if yours still doesn't work then try vacuming .....put the vacum hose at the ear jack and the power jack and suck the moisture out after vacuming put the phone back into rice for a longer period of time. Sometimes the phone gets enough mouisture in that it won't dry out with the rice method within 24 hrs so try leaving it in for 3 days or even a week!
putting a water damaged iphone in rice really works! I dropped my iphone 3gs in the tub for up to 10 seconds yesterday and i took it out and tried to turn it on but it didnt work. I could see the moisture inside the iphone through the camera lens. So i searched online and found the rice method. I left my iphone in a tray of rice for approximately 18 hours and checkedif there was moisture in through the camera lens, but poof moisture was gone, I put it on charge and it turned on :-)
mine didn't still work, i spilled some water on it yesterday.. and i watched this video yesterday also and i followed this trick, and i leave it for about 24 hrs. it still not work for me, is there anything i can do? is it too late?
HELP ME!!!! Mine fell in the water and I tried it but it didn't work and I left it in my drawer for about a month and forgot about it. Then Yesterday I tried it and it worked perfectly fine!!! The screen worked perfect but the middle button doesn't work!! I didn't fix it with anything. I just left it lying around in my drawer!!!
It works!! I saw this video yesterday after my phone mysteriously dropped into a glass of water ... I noticed a white streak running across the screen when i was trying to see if it worked. Long story short I tried the rice trick overnight and it works prefect today. Thanks for the tip, hope it will help more people like it did me!
@caits1997.. The only thing I can think to do is replacing the button. Maybe it shorted out. I have replaced mine on my iPod. There are videos showing how. So you know I'm NOT a tech guy or anything. It's just cheaper to try to fix it then replace and it's worked out for me.. Good luck.
My i pod touch fell in the shower yesterday and nothing really happend to it besides the speakers not working but i didnt mind. after a while of listening to it with my headphones the screen turned really darkso overnite i left it in a bag of rice.i woke up in the morning and turned it on to see if the dark screen had gone away.and it says i have to plug it into itunes.i cant turn off my i pod becuz the power off slider doesent work.i plugged it into itunes and it said itunes couldn't connect..
fuck when mine was watered i thought that i closed it bescause i didnt saw the water beacuse it was because it was behind the case and i thought that i closed it so tried to open it and it couldnt open i tryed to take off the case and it was full of water my fucking causin destoyed it and now she isnt byuing me a new one FUCK HER
Its idiots like this that are making our jobs harder. We fix water damage on Iphones and if you follow this misinformed idiots advice you will likely damage your phone further. This will likely cost you more to put right when you finally see sense and take your phone to a repair shop.
Water damage causes damage to batteries corrosion on other sensitive electronics like back-light coils. No amount of rice or other idiot-inspired home grown solutions will work.
Thanks for the help man. So far it seems to work. I turned it off cause it got hot fast and I figured it may have water still in there holding in heat but I'll try in another few hours
@666mellow Is there ever a time when its to late to use this technique? I havea new iphone already but i want to sell the old one.can u use brown rice.
everyone says to turn it off straight away but it wont let me turn mine off because the touch screen isnt working, should i just leave it so the battery runs out?
The rice must absorb all the moisture in the container. I also seen a few vids where people would submerge their phone in 99% isopropyl alcohol which does work very good for cleaning electronics and is non conductive.
ok so my iphone was in our pool for about 4 hours (don't ask me how i feel like such a twat!) everything works except the screen, would apple replace the screen or would i have to do it myself, also if you shake it you can still hear water in it. I've just put it in a bag of rice but i have completely Fucked up my iphone. Is it worth trying to fix or shall i just claim it under insurance?
@666mellow i didnt read that but oh well, actually for some reason it works now? i'm really surprised and happy! but i'm keeping it in the rice, idk how but nothing really happened to it, it was in water for like 10 seconds or less and i guess what you have to do is dry it out then put it in rice asap, and ur ok, the thing is wen it was still wet everything was fine cept for the mic and sound, the screen was fine, so yeah thanks!!!!
@666mellow my phone fell down the toilet and then went all funny the screen flickered then went off and then tried resetting itself for a while i put it on a radiator then dried it out with a hair dryer and then in rice for a couple of days now everything works but the home button, any ideas on how to fix it?
question if you could answer this asap that would be good, but i just dropped my ipod touch in water and i grabbed in in like 10 secs or less idk, i turned it off, dried it off, then blow dried it for about a minute, it was really hot so i think ther was no water in it so it was good, then i got a ziploc bag and got rice and then put it in it. and thats wer it is at right now, wat should i do?! just wait? and also the only thing that doesnt work is sound and the mic everything else is good!help!
@ash3344 I guess rice works as rice soaks up water almost like a sponge.. although I bet the rice would get into the charging dock, headphone and sim card space haha
i went on vacation and i got a tiny bit of water on my phone and did this trick but it DID NOT WORK!!!!!! its horrible! how do i fix it after the fact? PLZ REPLY!!!!!
this is my second day in the rice, i just tried to open it but couldnt. when i plug it to charger i saw the no battery sign on the screen. maybe i should wait to the end of third day. hope it works there is nothing to do we are gonna wait :((
@xplicitlypink....... I used enough rice to have the phone totally covered and I had the lid on. I have no idea if that matters or not, but it worked for me. Hope it works for you too.
my husband went into the swimming pool with his iPhone in his pocket, we put it in white rice, does it matter if you have a lot or a little rice? and should i keep the lid on the container or leave it off?? your help would be appreciated!
We were swimming in this really showlow drought because it doesn't rain in Houston anymore so we were going across this Log and then my friend jumped in the water and the water was deep enough to get his iPhone 3GS with otter box in his pocet I tried to fix it and he got pissed and came to my house and got it , and heres the funny part he got it yesterday
I fucked my iPod up with windex :/ I was cleaning my iPod when a little bit droped in the hole and my iPod has a little pink thing in my screen I can't get rid of :/
i just dropped my iphone 4 in a puddle with a otter case it was still working when i got it out but my music was playing and as soon it the water the water shut off.... u think it will work????
@thomashaddock1 yes. wallmart sells it. it takes moisture out of the air so no mold gets iun ur house.. just pop ur phone in their and close the lid.. mine was fixed in a day or two
yoo no lie im doing this right now as we speak..and if its a succsess find my profile on youtube :smil3y204 cause my video im going in..in a good way :) wish me luck..mind you mines didnt drop into anything it was by a winown that had baracades and it came thru the child proctected screen so yeah....
It makes me happy to hear that you turned it on when it was all effed up too. I did that and then read repair instructions and I was like crap. I killed it. I'm going to blow it dry a bit and then leave it in for like 3 days. It was never submerged in water, but it was under the sprinkler for who knows how long, collecting water and stuff. ugh.
it was hard not to but i didn't check till the third day. i was worried any water world cause a short. mine seemed totally dead till i plugged it into the charger. hope it works for you too.
well i am thirteen and it was raining out and we went outside during band class and i rolled in a puddle with my ipod in my pocket.... and like you commented on someone else your not a tech guy but yeah my ipod was on and the screen was turnin on and off and the touch screen didn't work and i can't turn it off.... but i think it died so i hope that works the screen is faded and i put it in rice and i think i am going to leave it in for four days cuz i have no idea how long it was in the water..
@TheWerewolfgal Rain residue stays on the circuit board after it dries. You need to open it, and clean the board and backlight connector with a q-tip and isopropyl alcohol.
My orange/black stickers for ribbons #1 and #3 fell off. Does anyone know whether I can order new ones somewhere? I need to send the phone back in to apple and I'm helpless!
can u use brown rice? mine just fell in the coffee- less than 5 secs.. it was kinda hot :( dried it and tried to blow dry it. and now in the brown rice... do you guys think it ll work :(
my iphone works and stuff but after a while it goes in stanby and when i try to turn it back on it doesnt turn on or when i plug into charger it wont turn on until next day.
Today I decided to go swimming with my iphone 4. Not a good idea for all of you thinking about it...
Forgot I had it on me and it sank in the deep end. Worried about pressure, chlorine, and the water. Was probably under for a good 30 seconds or so so the pressure must have made sure water filled everywhere! It was off and can't turn on. Have taken it a part and soaked it in fresh water for 2 minutes and now it's in a tupperware container filled with rice. Fingers crossed!!
@joeflux.... I don't know what that would do. I'm no tech guy. This is just what worked for me, but I would think the sooner the better so the water doesn't have time to damage things. I left mine in for three days... Good luck.
HELP!!! my phone was on when i dropped it in water. At first, the phone was working but couldn't read the sim card. After a few minutes, it keeps restarting and now its just in a blank screen with the apple logo.
dropped mine in beer at the hawks celtics game. after ricing and blow-drying, mine is coming on but still only for short periods, and only with the wall charger. it won't trickle charge with the usb going to the computer. the wifi says NO WIFI. did your wifi come back on too? I guess I'm gonna toss mine in the rice some more. i used the same container as you but filled that shit to the top with rice. wondering if only halfway like you did is better....i'll get back to you. thanks for sharing.
@EVERYONE.......... Yes I would like more sleep.. Thanks. I have two kids under 5. and no I'm not stoned but I wish I was. Work and Life does not allow it.
Best thing to do is to take iPhone apart, (real easy) and blow dry the inside with warm air.or if u have access to air hose take sim card out and blow thru holes at top.. Start at top and work way to bottom. My wife dropped her iPhone in COFFEE. YES COFFEE..wtf..but that's what I did and phone work like a charm...or u can dip the phone into rubbing alcohol..and put in sun and let dry for few days...
mine went in to the washing machine then to the dryer will this work???? i dint know it had been washed so wen i found it in my jacket i tried to charge it but it only turn on a few seconds to the unlock screen then it turned off!! help!!
i got the white screen of death after i soaked it in rice for 24 hours. was still able to plug it in and charge it, so i reset my ipod successfully. but still a no-go. any suggestions?
I was actually in spain and ran in to the ocean with my ipod touch 3rd gen 64gb in my swimming shorts. Got out after about 40 seconds but was in spain so had no acsess to a computer so i left it in the sun all day but it was the first day of the holiday so had to wait two weeks until i could plug it in. Can anyone please help me-100% true story :( it was my beloved ipod help????
drop my iphone 4 in the toilet today :-( and it was off when i got it out. so i hair dryed it and found this video. its now 7 hours later i took the phone out and the home buttom wasent working. hair dryed it again now it does....... but the iphone 4 wont charge! any idea what might be wrong do i need to wait longer? i see you put 2-3 days but everythingt else is working fine 7 hours later.
yea, recently dropped my iphone into water. it was under for a good 10 seconds. my iphone's in a ziploc bag. been 12 hours and there's still moisture inside the camera hole thingy.
@aminman15 ..... No I didn't. Turning it on when there is still water in it is when a short can happen. Get it as dry as you can before turning it on or charging it. Good luck. I hope it works for you to.
i washed my ipodtouch 4g and i used the rice feature everything works excellent now no shorts or anything just water damage behind the screen.. and the camera doesent start
thank you for posting this video! I spilled water on my iphone by accident today, and i found the rice method to recover the damage. i was a little hesitant to try it, but your video helped me believe that it would work. thanks!!! :)

I'm going to blow it dry a bit and then leave it in for like 3 days. It was never submerged in water, but it was under the sprinkler for who knows how long, collecting water and stuff. ugh.

My Phone dropped in the water yesterday, (the toilet, infact.)
And as you mentioned, around the camera there's condensation / water i can see in it. Is there any hope for my dearest phone? :(
Sucks that I've only had it for 2 weeks..

mysticking12345 8 months ago
well i am thirteen and it was raining out and we went outside during band class and i rolled in a puddle with my ipod in my pocket.... and like you commented on someone else your not a tech guy but yeah my ipod was on and the screen was turnin on and off and the touch screen didn't work and i can't turn it off.... but i think it died so i hope that works the screen is faded and i put it in rice and i think i am going to leave it in for four days cuz i have no idea how long it was in the water..
TheWerewolfgal 9 months ago
@TheWerewolfgal Rain residue stays on the circuit board after it dries. You need to open it, and clean the board and backlight connector with a q-tip and isopropyl alcohol.
brainslay3r 8 months ago
@brainslay3r i didn't do that and it's okay i guess it's a magical miracle

Kaniela1986 9 months ago
@Kaniela1986 Idiot why would you soak it

13gamefan 9 months ago
@joeflux.... I don't know what that would do. I'm no tech guy. This is just what worked for me, but I would think the sooner the better so the water doesn't have time to damage things. I left mine in for three days... Good luck.
666mellow 10 months ago
66mellow, what if you wait 2 weeks before putting it in rice, how long do you leave it in rice? i tried 1 day and no luck, still broke.

HELP!!! my phone was on when i dropped it in water.
