so weit sind wir in Bayern auch nicht, denn ich denke dass diese Fahrzeuge von BMW mitgezahlt wurden, damit die FF sie übernimmt und BMW nicht alles unterhalten muss.

What excatly are these trucks

They are used to transport Containers with special Equipment that is only needed in rare cases, such as NBC accidents. There are not many cases, so it would be useless to equip them into trucks, cause the trucks wouldn't be used enough. They're are stationed in Containers and the Firebrigades have one truck that is able to transport the container that is needed. [there are containers for oil accidents, for breathing protection, for medical stations and so on] (sorry for my bad english =P )

The UK also has very similar vehicles to what you've described, most fire & rescue services across the country have at least one for their area. They're part of a government programme called New Dimension and the vehicles are called Prime Movers.
